We go to visit our dear friends at their home (we do not feel that we are visiting a care home). We are always made to feel so welcome by all the staff and feel like family visiting. Our friends are constantly asked what they want and are allowed to make their own decisions. We have been surprised by
the homely atmosphere. In the past when visiting homes we have been glad to get out!

My 94-year-old father has been a resident at Alba Rose for over 4 years. The staff have always been excellent at handling his physical and psychological difficulties. Management are very responsive to any issue raised. A particular strength is the employment of an activities supervisor. I can truly
say that this care home gives their residents a better quality of life than any residential home that I knew during my working life as a GP.

The home is very well organised and staff always available to be of assistance. The home deals with all resident's hospital appointments, including transport. The staff really motivate the residents, encouraging them to join in with all activities they organise. They have worked exceptionally hard during

My wife spent four weeks in Alba Rose whilst I recovered from a heart attack. The home is well run and the staff kind and helpful. Given the Covid restrictions, visiting access was good and the home is making great efforts to ensure safety.

My aunt has been a resident at Alba Rose for 2-years now, and it is very much home for her.
The surroundings are comfortable and homely with a beautiful garden and lovely views from the public rooms and terrace.
She is looked after very well by the wonderful dedicated staff who are unfailingly kind
and caring.
In normal times, there are loads of activities and trips out, but they are on hold at the moment.
Despite the difficult situation, the residents are kept happy and occupied.

Alba Rose has provided my mother with exceptional care for the past four years. She has a comfortable, spacious room where she has her own furniture so that it has always felt like home. The staff have always shown a warm, caring attitude and, until the present lock-down, have provided a very varied
and stimulating programme of activities, especially the weekly "coffee run". The new management has taken over seamlessly and maintained the standard of care as well as greatly improving their communication with me, both from Alba Rose and from head office. On the most re-assuring aspects of my mother's care during the pandemic has been the stability of the staff with a low turnover, and the absence of agency staff. A recent visit to the garden marquee was well organised and successful.

The staff at Alba Rose are extremely caring and professional and over the past months particularly have responded to challenging and ever-changing conditions to provide tailored care to the residents and support for their families.
The nature of the building means that staff have had to adapt practices
to residents' requirements and have provided a secure environment for residents during Lockdown and the means for relatives to visit safely as soon as possible.
Staff are in regular contact with us and have really grown to know and understand my mother in law for which I am grateful. Her often complicated care needs are taken seriously and proactively dealt with wherever possible.

My grandmother spent many happy years at Alba Rose. Her health and well-being really improved during her time in the home. It was always very clear when we visited how tremendously caring the staff were towards grandma and the other residents. I always felt the home had a lovely family atmosphere. Grandma
loved her room and the views out of the window across fields. A big Thank-you to all the staff at Alba Rose for making such a difference to My Grandma.

Providing Alba Rose residents with tasty and nutritious meals falls to the home’s experienced and talented Head Cook, Claire Field.
Claire previously worked as a cook in cafes and as a school dinner lady before coming to Alba Rose seven and a half years ago.
That experience stood Claire in good stead for the demanding but rewarding task of providing great, home-cooked meals to residents with a wide variety of personal preferences and dietary needs.
“Mealtimes are something that residents do look forward to and so it is very important that we give them something that they are going to enjoy,” says Claire.
She is trained in providing food in a care setting, which includes catering for those with special dietary needs and those with dementia,
“I also make it my business to know the residents and to understand what they like and don’t like – this is their home after all and you wouldn’t cook yourself something you don’t like, would you?
“Whether it is different choices of vegetables, portion sizes or whatever, we cater for all of their tastes to ensure they get the meal they want.”
Claire describes the food as traditional home cooking that is determined by the residents.
“We try different things from time to time and if they like it, it will stay on the menu,” she says. “At the end of the day it is the residents that decide what they want to have and that is how it should be.”
There is a choice but if a resident doesn’t fancy any of the options that day, Claire is always happy to make something different.
“As long as they are happy, I’m happy,” she adds. “I’ve had a good day if someone says, ‘thank you, I’ve enjoyed my lunch’ – that means a lot.”
