Anchor’s Firth House is located at the heart of Selby, in a quiet area within a mile of Selby Abbey. The home is Veteran Friendly Framework (VFF) accredited to be able to provide personalised care for veterans.

The home provides residential and dementia care for residents in single en suite rooms and continues to welcome new residents.

Anchor provide care for older people living with dementia care and provide training to ensure their approach is best for people living with dementia.

Staff work hard to build relationships and ensure all aspects of the service provided is focused on personalised, compassionate care. Firth House offers residential, dementia and respite care.

Firth House Care Home is a very welcoming place both outside and in, when you arrive the staff that you meet are efficient and bright and cheerful (as my mum-in-law says, full of fun). The decor is bright and pictures on the walls, furniture looks inviting to sit in, not all mish-mash and odd bits of
furniture.
My mum-in-law landed on their doorstep (from hospital) at tea time and had a good night's sleep which says a lot as she is a very anxious/nervy person. We leave knowing she is well cared for and, most importantly, she is happy.

After a difficult decision of my grandma, who suffers from dementia and needs a care home, when looking around Firth House we felt that the atmosphere and feel of the home was the right place for her instantly. Since being in Firth House she has joined in activities and enjoyed singalongs it's great
to see this side of my grandma again and the Christmas activities and family lunch were a lovely way to spend time with her for her first Christmas in a care home.

One of my weekly visits in November coincided with lunchtime for the first time since Mum moved to a non-solid diet. I was expecting she would have some kind of soup but instead, she was asked whether she would like quiche or lamb casserole. She chose quiche and it came beautifully presented with separate
sections of pureed quiche, mashed potato, broccoli and peas so she could enjoy the different tastes. It was lovely to see.
Mum has been at Firth House Care Home for over two years now and her care is excellent. The staff are kind, attentive and always friendly. Mum always looks well cared for whenever I pop in and her room is always clean and tidy.
We really couldn't have chosen a better setting for her care. The staff at Firth House are like a second family to her.

Staff at Frith House are welcoming and efficient. Covid restrictions were implemented and maintained strictly. During lockdown, staff kept us well informed about the visiting arrangements. They also provided relevant information about residents. Many of the staff have worked there for years, and that
means there is a wealth of experience. In pre-Covid times, a wide range of activities was operated, benefiting residents. I have visited a number of care homes, and I consider that Frith House is well managed by committed and enthusiastic staff, meeting needs in a caring and sensitive way.

Mum recently moved into Firth House, having spent several weeks in hospital. The staff couldn't have done more to make her feel welcome and settle her in, and she keeps telling me they are all very kind and look after her well. The home is kept very clean, and the food always looks tasty and appetising
with a good variety and voice. All the residents seem very happy and well cared for with plenty of activities to keep them entertained.

Knowing mum is well looked after and cared for gives us so much peace of mind as a family, following a fall mum was in hospital before social care took over and she was placed in a home. Her property went missing, she hardly ate and the staff hardly knew her, my daughter found Firth house and we haven't
looked back, she is safe and happy and I couldn't ask for more. We are very happy and as is mum!

My husband has been a resident of Firth House since July 2020, through the difficult struggles of the Covid epidemic. The Home is very well run. Management is friendly, experienced and efficient. Residents are treated with love, care and dignity and it is a safe happy place to live. Would definitely

On the whole I am satisfied with the care and services provided. It's difficult to judge from the few times I have been to Firth house. Recent times must have been very difficult due to the health situation, but I'm sure everyone must have been doing their best to cope and adapt. Although my mother
can be stubborn and refuse help, care, taking part in activities etc. a little more encouragement could be used by the staff.
Access to the garden with a member of staff to get some fresh air and also have a cigarette from time to time would be very welcomed. It's one of the few pleasures in life that she appreciates and would like that to be taken into consideration. Thank you.

I feel that Firth House is a well run, caring, friendly and welcoming home. The 'Covid period' was extremely stressful and I felt my sister was always safe. The staff I have spoken to are always helpful and pleasant and nothing too much trouble and my sister's needs are always well catered for.
The
Manager and Deputy Manager know all the residents and their interaction with my sister is brilliant.
I am delighted my sister is a resident in Firth House and have no cause to be anxious about her care and wellbeing, all her needs are continually met. The weekly activities programme is always a very interesting and an exciting mix.
I would completely recommend Firth House to anyone who needed that 'special, caring place' for a loved family member.
