The Granby offers elegance and style and is a place in which residents feel pampered and cared for. The home provides residential, nursing, and respite care.

The Granby has undergone a full refurbishment, the modernised home includes a welcoming reception area, lounge and bar area and stunning dining room. All rooms have been tastefully redecorated in a number of elegant themes. In addition to this, the home also has a café, wellbeing suite and a luxurious cinema that residents can enjoy.

The lounge at The Granby is the perfect place to enjoy afternoon tea and socialise as it looks out across the famous common, The Stray.

There is a superb collection of reading material including books, magazines and papers in the decadent library; now called Lord Byron’s library as this is where the famous bard wrote some of his literary works.

Residents can be treated to a new hairstyle in the hairdressing salon or even relaxing aromatherapy or reflexology sessions in the privacy of their own rooms.

There are attractive grounds in which to relax or take gentle exercise. For the more adventurous there is a seven-seater minibus equipped for wheelchair access which means residents can enjoy excursions both into Harrogate town centre and further afield. A range of recreational activities take place in the beautifully restored and original Crystal Ballroom.

The standard of accommodation and care afforded at The Granby is second to none, with every resident being actively encouraged to retain their independence in order that they lead as full a life as possible.

My mum arrived at Granby in December 2019. She was recovering from a hip operation and had, over the previous 6 months, experienced some isolation and disorientation. As a family, we visited her at home 2-3 times a week. However, these visits were not enough to create a happy home environment for her.
Despite initial misgivings about her moving to a care home from both her and us, Granby has been the best decision we could have made for her. The staff and management are first class, the facilities excellent and the team who engage with the residents to keep them occupied and entertained could not work harder. My Mum has gone from a frail old lady to an active engaged resident with a happy future ahead of her. Throughout the threat of the pandemic, The Granby has remained strong and resilient in their care of the residents. It has been heartbreaking not to have seen my Mum face to face for 6 months, but we have stayed in touch thanks to technology. Mum is safe and well. Thanks, Granby team.

We booked and paid for 2 weeks' respite care in The Granby but left after 5 days. We had to stay in our room from 11.30 Monday, July 6th to Thursday, July 9th at about 3 pm to confirm that we were COVID free - rather a tedious ordeal. We expected to be able to use the garden but this didn't seem possible.
On arrival, we were welcomed to a drink of coffee but surprised to find there was no decaff available. Also, a request for tonic water on Saturday evening (taken daily at home for cramps) was unavailable. I'm sure that if we had been permanent residents we would have solved these issues as all the staff were very helpful, but overall we were very disappointed with our stay.

I have never met such dedicated staff, they have kept the residents safe through this virus, and although we have been unable to visit they have kept us informed and we have FaceTime. They care about my Nan she is always happy and looks well cared for.

My mother has lived at The Granby for a number of years and the standard of her personal care has generally been high, and always delivered with cheer and kindness. The care team have excelled themselves over the past four months during the pandemic keeping all the residents safe and secure and providing

I can only say how reassuring it is to know that our Mum is being cared for so well, especially in the present circumstances, the staff really care and it shows, nothing is too much trouble for them. The activities are great, Mum loved the recent Hawaiian garden party. Thanks to the lady who organised
our Zoom call. I really can't thank all of the staff enough for all their patience and hard work, which is carried out with love and understanding.

After some hospital treatment, I came here for respite care. I found peace in the quiet and sunny aspect of my top floor bedroom with its wonderful view over Harrogate's Stray. Days later I was encouraged to have meals in the beautiful 'Willow' dining room, fully lit by chandeliers and decorated in
chinoiserie style. I enjoyed the vegetarian food provided. Not having to think about planning meals, their preparation and cleaning up afterwards was a great relief. Likewise, to have laundry taken away, washed and returned, sometimes within hours, was appreciated. The several interlocking lounges were all comfortable for relaxing in and tastefully decorated. The staff were flexible and happy to please and the interest groups were just starting up again with enthusiasm.

Whilst my mother was resident at The Granby, she was fortunate to have a beautifully appointed room facing a long stretch of a public park. It made an easy transition for her from independent living to being cared for. The transition was also assisted by the wonderful facilities and catering The Granby
offers, in such a beautiful environment. A home from home. As importantly, the kindness and care of staff and the overall friendliness shown to her made my siblings and I realise that we had made the right decision in moving her there. Never an easy decision for anyone. My wife and children referred to The Granby as Granny's hotel (much to my mother's amusement!). It was so lovely to visit her there.

The staff are caring and helpful and since the covid-19 situation, they have gone above and beyond to ensure that we have contact with mum. The activities, entertainment and food at the home are excellent and any issues

I have always found the staff friendly, co-operative and eager to help.
They show concern and real care for the welfare of residents. They are friendly and know my name, even though I am only a visitor.
These people do a splendid job under difficult circumstances sometimes. They should be proud.
Perhaps the catering could be more imaginative - residents need tempting to improve appetite!

From the moment that we first enquired about respite care for Mum, it was our first foray into care provision and we weren't sure what to expect. The team at The Granby could not have been more helpful. They went out of their way to support and assist us and mum could not have been looked after any
better during her week there.
The staff are warm and friendly with both guests and relatives and the facilities are of hotel standards. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend The Granby.

My elderly father-in-law was a resident for 2 weeks after breaking his hip, in between being discharged from hospital and returning home. It was an ideal step along the road to recovery, allowing him to build up his confidence, strength and independence after spending 2 months in hospital. By the time
he left, he was able to use his zimmer frame and walk over 100m using it. He was very well looked after by the care staff and was very pleased with his choice to stay there. The administration and organisation of his stay by the care home management were excellent and we felt we had been given a personal and professional service by them. We can thoroughly recommend it.

Ruby graduated with a BS in Nursing Degree in 2000. She began as a nurse in United Arab Emirates working in the private medical team for the president. In 2004, she returned to Lebanon as a nurse in the accident and emergency department before becoming Deputy Nurse Manager and being trained in advanced nursing diagnostics. In 2009, she got a job with one of the best Ophthalmology surgeons in Lebanon. She managed three clinics as well as assisting in surgeries, and diagnostic procedures. In 2017, she obtained a CELTA, which enabled her to work as a school nurse and an English teacher before she moved to the UK.


Ruby is a proud mother of two girls and enjoys reading, studying languages and acapella choir singing in her spare time.
