I think it is fair to say that my mother arrived at St John's under difficult circumstances. She was very unwell and quiet down after a prolonged period of illness. St John's has been a ray of sunshine in our family's life. We could not have asked for better care, mental support or, quite frankly, love.

All staff are very welcoming, very caring and treat residents with dignity. All very approachable to take through problems we may be having with Mum's health or needs. Very "on the ball" with Mum's care and getting a doctor/nurse for medical issues. Mum's room is always very clean, the laundry is beautiful
(as Mum will say), and Mum is always clean and well-groomed.

It’s such a special calling to care for the elderly. There are so many levels of need to be met and different personalities and life experiences to accommodate. At St John’s House, where I have been visiting my mum every week for the past six months, I have always felt in awe of the community of coworkers
who make this home feel so very homely. The open-door policy is an aspect of the relaxed and respectful attitude towards the residents, yet I know for a fact that there is always vigilance and an appropriate level of shepherding when needed! When joining in with the wonderful Jubilee celebration, I got a personal taste of being welcomed in and cared for by these lovely people, and felt almost guilty to leave them with all the clearing up and the continuing care of the residents at the end of it. I can’t thank everyone enough, from management through to the carers, caterers, handyman and gardeners, for making this as good a new home for our mum as we could ever have asked.

As far as my brother and I are concerned, we could not have made a better choice than St John's. I cannot praise the staff too highly; they are friendly and efficient. Mum's lack of mobility does not stop the staff from encouraging her to join in with some of the activities. The standard of hygiene
is excellent. The room is clean and well decorated. It is fair to say Mum is reasonable content and considers St John's her home. Recently, they celebrated the Queen's Jubilee with residents and relatives, and it was a wonderful occasion for all. Well done, St John's.

My uncle was in St John's House for respite. We were very happy with the care he received. Staff seemed conscientious and accommodating; they had a good system in place, despite Covid restrictions. Overall, very pleased.

When my mother entered St John's, she was in a low state of mind and very fragile, both physically and mentally. They have done wonders for her with the care and support of the staff (who are absolutely excellent) and the well-running of the whole establishment. We would have no hesitation in recommending
St John's to anybody and would publicly like to thank everybody for their fun, and the support and care are given to my mum - absolutely outstanding.

St John's is the most bright and friendly care home I have ever come across. The staff are incredibly friendly and always keen to help if I have any queries or concerns about my dad. He is so well cared for and very happy being a resident there. Dad loves the food, and he is fascinated that everybody
knows him personally and that he always sees the same friendly people who are looking after him.

St John's House is a beautifully kept home and garden. The very caring staff are vigilant and reassuring to the elderly residents and are always on hand. They do their best to provide stimulating activities, and the trips out are very popular. I feel confident in my mother's care, and she seems happy
and untroubled. Her requests are always listened to and care is taken to provide food that she likes.

My mother moved into St John's six months ago. She had become unable to care for herself alone any longer. Right from the start, she was made very welcome by the friendly, attentive and professional staff. Despite the Covid restrictions in place, we had no real problems with visiting and phoning - and
things continue to improve as restrictions are further lifted.
The home is clean and welcoming. The gardens are beautiful. Her personal care is exemplary. Food is good. She has easy access to chiropody and hairdressing, and there are lots of organised activities for the residents.
I highly recommend it.

Just been to the first garden party and had a great time. The staff are fantastic and very caring. Having been into a lot of homes, this beats most hands down for facilities and things to do for the residents, which keeps them motivated.

Mum arrived at the home as Covid hit the UK. She has been looked after and cherished, despite our difficulty in visits. This month it became clear Mum was ill "end of life", and the home has been exceptional in giving her a loving and caring environment, giving her much dignity and supporting us through
the emotional time.

I can’t thank St John's House and in particular, the manager for her help and care in the last few weeks as my Grandma enters the final days of life. They’ve been wonderful to my family and me and there aren’t words that can show that. My grandma has been in St John's House for the last couple of years
full time and has always been treated with dignity and respect, she has been comfortable, well-fed and clean. Whenever I’ve been to see her she’s had a smile on her face. You’re always greeted with a smile and there is continually a smell of home-cooked food wafting around whilst residents play games and enjoy the company. Thank you all! You’ve made my grandma’s final years happy.

Despite Covid restriction over the last 22-months, we have been able to visit my mother, whenever the restrictions have allowed. St John's have made facilitates available (Skype, visitors pods, PPE for room visits). Activities have continued throughout, although some have had to be restricted (Summer
Fayre, Christmas Party). We appreciate the way St John's have managed the situation throughout Covid.

5-stars genuinely is not enough for this outstanding care home. My dad has been lucky enough to have some respite care here, and he truly comes alive when he visits. He has made lots of friends, and the staff cannot do enough for him; the residents really are at the heart of everything the staff do.
St John's is a joyous place, and I feel so very fortunate to have found somewhere so exceptional for my dad.

I was warmly welcomed by both staff and several residents alike. There was a good choice of food on the menu, and the meals were presented extremely appetisingly. I thought there should be a member of staff in attendance throughout mealtime. I didn't think staff should be using their mobile phones whilst
on duty. I didn't think the shower area was suitable.

Our Care planning system is electronic, and staff input all contacts on small phone handsets that they carry at all times - I apologise if this was not clarified with you and want to reassure you that staff do not access their own phones during the time working with residents. Our staff do supervise mealtimes and are always in or close to dining areas; they work hard to provide assistance whenever required but also respect privacy whilst people are eating and socialising. We do offer a choice of assisted bathrooms and shower areas and am sorry if you did not find that they were suitable. Many thanks for your feedback and for choosing to stay with us.

My husband's first respite at 63 years, he seems young to be in a care home, St John's House reassured me from the beginning, they were considerate to my needs as well as his. Despite Covid restriction and ensuring everyone's safety was paramount. The staff here so kind and considerate and ensured I
had a relaxing break away. He enjoyed his stay - enough said! Thank you.

My mum needed full-time care and with our busy and working lives, we needed help. Mum would not accept a 'live-in' carer. I brought her to St John's House as a trial/holiday. She did take a while to settle and it was the hardest thing I've done in my life but the amazing, caring and wonderful team made
everything slot into place. I don’t think I’ll have her long now as I see her deteriorating but at 93 she has the best care and attention I could ever want from them and I can WhatsApp video and visit her regularly which she enjoys. When my dad passed two years ago at 93 I promised him she would be ok and with the help of the fantastic team at St John's House I feel I have fulfilled my promise to him. They were together from the ages of 14 and 16, so a lifetime. Thanks again everyone.

All members of staff were kind, compassionate and always willing to make a special effort to manage the extra care Mum required.

After a week's respite last year, my mother moved into St John's House as a resident a few weeks ago. It's obviously a difficult time for both staff and residents, but I feel that everything possible is being done to enable the residents to enjoy fulfilling days, despite Covid restrictions. The care
home is well run and well managed, and communication with relatives is excellent. I have found the staff to be friendly, kind and helpful, which adds to the happy atmosphere I feel when visiting. Above all, I feel that the happiness and welfare of residents is the main priority of St John's House, which means everything to me.
