Mt stay at St John's House has been a happy experience in every respect. Good food and a calm, pleasant room adequately furnished. Every member of staff with whom I have had the pleasure of meeting has been friendly, capable and willing to do all they can to help. I could not have wished for better

Dad has been a resident at St John's for the past three years, and over this period, the standard of care has been outstanding. There are a number of individual carers who are fantastic and have helped my dad through a very difficult period, but the whole team work together to ensure the atmosphere
there is very friendly and caring. I would not hesitate to recommend St John's to anyone.

Care home is clean, nicely decorated, welcoming with lovely grounds. Multiple activities for residents. Staff have been amazing - excellent care, thoughtfulness, managed extremely well during Covid- visiting pod great. Easy to contact staff with any queries. Well managed.

My mum arrived at St John's in December 2018, and the care she has received since then has been excellent. In particular, the manner in which the staff and management have responded to the pandemic has been simply outstanding. Communication has been very clear, comprehensive and regularly updated via
a very effective residents group chat throughout the whole crisis. The home always puts the needs of residents and their families first, and during 2020, they invested in a superb visitors 'pod' that met and went beyond Government guidelines in order to facilitate continued visits. This has been brilliant for the well-being and peace of mind of both residents and families, as it has enabled us all to see our loved ones through very challenging times. The staff at St John's are always friendly and welcoming, and they take a genuine interest in seeking feedback about the service they provide in order to ensure residents are happy and well looked after. I am delighted that Mum is in their care.

My mother-in-law has been a resident at St Jonh's since December 2019 and has received a consistently high level of care throughout this period. Due to Covid, St John's has had to overcome a number of serious issues, and the staff have at all times showed compassion to both resident and relatives and
maintained their high standards.

Mum has been at St John's for just over a year now, arriving just before Covid and subsequent lockdown. I cannot praise the staff more highly for their care and dedication and mum is very happy and extremely safe.
The staff have been so professional in their approach to Covid, making sure that everyone
is safe at all times. Due to the distances involved, I have not been able to visit, but staff are always available to set up a Whatsapp video link. I receive regular updates of events and activities (which are many) and photographs too, which are great when you can't be there in person.
Mum continues to tell me how lovely all the staff are and how "nothing is too much trouble, you only have to ask". She is certainly very happy and is kept occupied with all the organised activities. I never thought I'd see my mother flower arranging!
Great service from a great team.

Throughout the Covid-19 scenario, the staff have gone above and beyond in their efforts to keep the residents safe. The visiting pod has been excellent in maintaining weekly visits, and the recent face to face and hand-holding sessions have enabled relationships with loved ones to be rekindled. My mother
is well cared for, and although doesn't join in with the activities anymore, she is always grateful for the time spent helping her, and she especially looks forward to mealtimes where she can't rate the food highly enough.

In the past, St John's House has cared for both my Grandmother and my Aunt, so now that I need some respite care for my Mum, I had no hesitation in contacting the Home again.
The staff were always very kind and considerate, and I know that hasn’t changed, despite the challenges they have faced due
to Covid etc. My mum, although confused, has been an extremely independent person, and I was concerned that she may not settle... I needn’t have worried. During our phone calls, she tells me how lovely all the girls are, and says they can’t do enough for her. There is a real family atmosphere, plus beautiful surroundings.
Add to that the wonderful food (Mum had lost interest in food before respite), and I think I may have trouble getting her to come home!
Thank you everyone at St John's, for all your hard work and care, which is enabling me to have a break, and keeping Mum safe. I would happily recommend you to my friends and family.

My mum moved into St John's after a spell in hospital last year.
The staff team are fantastic; they have and continue to give time to my mum to listen to any concerns or worries she may have and to reassure her. They are very good at maintaining regular communication with myself regarding Mum, and
nothing is ever too much for them.
The home has continued to offer day activities throughout the pandemic, which has been brilliant, and the caring attitude of all the staff has been wonderful.
The home has been Covid-free, which is a fantastic achievement and shows the staffs dedication and commitment to their job and the residents they look after!

Mum has been at St John's for getting on for three years. It continues to be a friendly, happy, safe place for Mum to live her best life. Despite the difficult times we have been through in the last twelve months, the staff and management have worked incredibly hard to keep St John’s Covid free whilst
still allowing residents to do as much as they can within the house and grounds and also to keep relatives as involved and connected as possible.
The visiting pod has worked extremely well and is to a very high standard. Face to face visits is shortly to commence in accordance with government guidelines.
Mum continues to enjoy the lovely food and takes part in a varied range of activities.
I have total confidence in the way Mum is cared for and in recommending St John’s.

My mother in law has been resident at St John's since December 2019 and has been looked after with superb care and attention at all times. The staff are brilliant and her and all the residents', welfare is at the top of their agenda. As we approach this 2nd lockdown they had sorted an amazing airtight
room for us all to visit our loved ones. So lovely to see them again at no risk to them or us. When or if the time comes I'll be booking my place there!

St. John's House started its preparations for the Coronavirus Pandemic back in February 2020. Anticipating likely lack of government support, they invested in quality PPE for staff from the beginning.
Throughout, there has been a health and safety COVID-19 regime, to protect residents and staff from
contracting the disease. Visits are allowed, under strict 2 metre distancing with a visiting relative for 30 minutes, indoors in a large room if the weather does not permit outside visits.
In August, the staff organised a Beach Party, with residents making the decor and everybody involved. Raffle and a visit from Mr. Whippy to the grounds, which are extensive as the house is in a rural setting.
Relatives and staff are kept informed and consulted on a regular basis about house rules, and how to protect our loved ones. Even if that means quarantine, following an outside (hospital) visit, until a negative test can reduce the 14 Days. Highly recommended.

Mum came to stay for a period of respite at St John's in a particularly difficult and challenging time for all.
The team put our minds at rest having taken all necessary precautions/testing, etc. with no Covid-19 cases being present.
After Mum's initial settling in/getting familiar with her surroundings,
she loved it at St John's.
Mum's room was delightful on the ground floor, allowing her access to the beautifully tendered gardens whenever the mood took her. Mum is a bit of a country girl at heart and loved the wildlife in the gardens and the flowers. The train between York and Harrogate made her reminisce of the milk and coal train her and her four brothers used to see as children, picking coal off the tracks for home [this was after the war when everything was on ration!]
It was good that I could still visit mum too, even with the horrid Covid-19 going on.
It was very reassuring to know Mum was safe and happy whilst at St John's House.
Thank you for making Mum happy.

Amazing caring staff who always go the extra mile and have indeed been steadfast during the covid19 pandemic.
Mum is happy and settled and loves the staff! The accommodation is outstanding immaculately clean and every area is welcoming. Visitors are welcomed like extended family and the home honours
an open door policy, we are encouraged to visit at any time on any day. My family and l celebrate each day that we were lucky enough to relocate Mum to St John's.

Outstanding care for my mum of the past two and a half years. Their actions during the pandemic have been outstanding- for example, purchasing PPE on a continued basis from late January- a precautionary investment that proved to place St. John’s ahead of many other homes, and sadly even the NHS!
Whilst
the situation has been very worrying, their safe practices have contained and eradicated any risks, whilst proving their usual high standards of love and care.

My mum has been a resident at St John's for nearly 3 years, she gets the best care and everyone goes the extra mile. During the lockdown, the staff have all made WhatsApp facetime calls to our loved ones, and we now can have visits, socially distancing in the garden. My mum is extremely well cared for
and is very happy there.

My mum, who is aged 89 and crippled with Arthritis, became too infirm for the family to look after. Very reluctantly we were forced to make the decision, with her full agreement, to relocate her from The Channel Islands to St John’s Care Home which is in the village of her childhood and where she spent
almost all her adult life.
From the moment I walked into St John’s I immediately felt the warmth and care of the staff - it felt like walking into a rather upmarket family home-from-home.
My mum settled in immediately and was made to feel so welcome by every staff member. The food is delicious and there is relevant entertainment most days with lovely private gardens for outdoor walks and afternoon tea. The care, patience and empathy for the residents is outstanding. My mum has been a resident at St John’s for almost 12 months now and during that time she has received impeccable service from the lovely staff.
I have absolutely no hesitation in recommending all the staff at St John’s House!

My mum moved into St John's a couple of years ago - she is a very independent person and we were so worried how this difficult transition from being a house owner to being a resident would go. From the moment she moved in, it became her home, due to the warmth, kindness and respect she was given by
the whole team. As relatives, it’s kind of like a second home to us too. During the COVID-19 crisis, the management of St. John’s ensured that both residents and staff were provided with all they needed to feel safe and confident during a time of high anxiety and turmoil. The protective measures were put in place immediately and the team were way ahead of most places. As a family, we have felt so included and well informed; communications simply could not have been better. I applaud St John's, both the management and the incredible team, for all they have done and continue to do to keep our loved ones not only safe, but to keep them happy and engaged through such a challenging period. Thank you!

My father has been at St John's for 11 months, and thanks to the care he has received has lived longer than expected by his doctor. St John's is outstanding in every way, and what is most difficult to describe is the atmosphere. I visit regularly at all times of the day, and each time there is a friendly
welcome by the team, they use my name and make me feel welcome. They are not only kind and utterly professional but bring humour and fun to their profession. During the pandemic when we are all aware of the issues in care homes, St John's consistently goes above and beyond to keep everyone safe and well. We have regular updates and photos, they make video calls so I can chat face to face, and today for the second time they provided access to my dad for us to meet in the garden. I could not wish for him to be anywhere else. He is content, happy, cared for and in his own words said "You don't have to worry about me being here, I've got everything I need, it's lovely"
