My wife and I searched for some time for a decent care home for my father-in-law. We visited Larchfield Manor and spoke to the manager's deputy, who gave us a tour and showed us two rooms. The garden-facing room was perfect for my father-in-law as he loved the outdoors and the view of the birds and
squirrels. The deputy's open manner and willingness to answer all our questions was reassuring and we moved my father-in-law in. Unfortunately he had another heart attack after three days and had to be hospitalised until his death, but we felt we had placed him in a safe home, even for that time, compared to other care homes. I have no hesitation in recommending Larchfield Manor.

Homely place for residents and families. The staff work hard and are caring and committed. The residents look contented and the managers are approachable though often very busy. They listen.
As a family, we have been able to visit our loved one and it feels like 'home'. So we are happy and reassured.

Mum moved into Larchfield on Friday. I was incredibly anxious about how she would feel about it, but my sister and I had looked at a few places beforehand and there was no doubt in our minds the moment we walked through the door at Larchfield that it was the place for Mum. Laughter all around, carers
ready to help with any questions or issues, and a place that felt and smelt more like a family country house than a care home. Mum has a bit of dementia, mobility issues, and deafness. But she has been made to feel so welcome by the lovely staff that it feels like a dream situation! The staff are just some of the wonderful staff who have made Mum feel at home. I had no idea that there were places like Larchfield! I can sleep at night for the first time in ages, knowing that Mum has people around her who care and who will come to love her. Thank you!

Mum has been a resident at Larchfield Manor for almost two years now and couldn't be better cared for if I was doing it myself. The staff and management quickly and seamlessly adapt to her ever-changing needs, always with respect and dignity, but with great humour and fun too. Nothing is ever too much
trouble for the staff, who seem to genuinely enjoy their interactions with all the residents. The management is very approachable and happy to discuss any worries or queries. Mum was adamant that she would never go into a care home, yet, from her very first day, she loved Larchfied and I would have no hesitation in recommending this home.

Following a fairly traumatic period where Mum sadly passed and Dad's ability to live independently was reducing, moving into a care home became the only option. We were very apprehensive of how Dad would take the transition but finding Larchfield Manor was an absolute godsend.
There is a homely feel,
not clinical, the care staff are wonderful and nothing is too much trouble. Residents are treated with dignity and respect and it is very evident the care team genuinely care. I can see on Dad's face he likes the interaction and banter they give him which is neither rushed nor forced. Residents always seem comfortable and content.
The management team are equally wonderful, very responsive and proactive, and always have time to talk things through. They clearly put a lot of effort into maintaining a happy team and make it look easy.
I am very grateful to Larchfield Manor for how well they look after Dad and would highly recommend this home.

Having visited relatives and friends in care homes on numerous occasions I know that such places come in all shapes and sizes, and some are better than others.
So when the time came to find a care home for my wife, my family and I knew the importance of 'getting it right'. We knew it didn't need to
have been built yesterday, nor lavishly appointed. Essentially it would be a home-from-home, well-run and have a team of well-trained and experienced staff.
Few stones were left unturned during the search and, eventually, it was found that Larchfield Manor ticked all the boxes. The big day came and my wife was lovingly welcomed by all into the Larchfield family, and she quickly settled in.
As expected, round-the-clock care is on hand, smiling faces frequently offer cheery words - sometimes even a song - and, if necessary, a comforting hug. My wife loves her room, the food is good and she shows all the signs of being happy and content at Larchfield.
Thankfully we made the right choice!

We were very fortunate to find a home for our Mum where the management and staff are very caring in what they do. Nothing is too much trouble. Mum has been well looked after since the end of May 2023.
Mum was very disorientated at first but was encouraged to join in activities and meet others. She
now has lots of friends and acquaintances. We also found a family member who lives there as well, so Mum gets quick visits from her grandchildren too. Visiting times are flexible as long as meal times are considered. There is a garden at Larchfield Manor where Mum can be taken to sit outside. Overall everyone working there is very understanding and takes Mum's mobility limitations into consideration.

Very caring personnel, who treat their residents with respect. The management and staff are always prepared to help both residents and visitors. The staff appear to enjoy the residents and make an effort to get to know them at a personal level.

Dad moved into Larchfield Manor following a fall and a period of time in hospital. He was very unsure, anxious and confused when he was admitted, along with having a range of physical care needs. Larchfield were fantastic from the very start; they helped Dad settle by providing him with lots of reassurance.
They quickly sorted out a moving and handling assessment, as well as equipment that was needed, and liaised regularly with the General Practioner and District Nurse to sort out a range of ongoing health issues.
He is now much less confused and far less anxious. He is enjoying taking part in the various activities and the staff have clearly spent time chatting to him, as they can often tell me things about his past that he has shared with them. Thank you to all the team.

After a minor fall, our mum ended up in hospital, medically fit, but her mobility was declining rapidly and she was very reluctant to return home. As I rang around trying to find a place at short notice, Larchfield Manor stood out immediately as demonstrating a depth of experience and understanding
I wasn't finding elsewhere. When we visited we were impressed by the residents and the staff, all of whom were very present in a setting which felt very much like home. Luckily for us, there was a space, and the team supported us to make a swift (covid-safe) transfer.
We brought my mum back to a lovely room with views across the gardens. Since then as we've settled her in nothing has been too much trouble. We were encouraged to hang her bird feeders up on the bushes outside, and within seconds a coal tit was feeding. And the delicious food is tempting enough to persuade my mum to eat. Thanks to the endlessly helpful team who have made this difficult move very positive and easy.

Mum sadly only spent a month in Larchfield Manor but I couldn't have asked for a better place for her to spend her last weeks. She had a beautiful room, bright, spacious and warm in a beautiful setting just off Leadhall Lane. The team that looked after mum were absolutely fantastic! Nothing was too
much trouble. Our family was made to feel so welcome on every visit. Thank you all so much for helping us through this very difficult time.

My mum went in there straight from the hospital, the staff and management were very welcoming and nothing is a problem for them. They were very happy to accommodate my mum on anything she wanted to put my mind at ease as I didn't know what to expect. When the time came for mum to be a permanent resident
and the social services were wanting to move her, I was in no way going to let mum move as we were happy that she was settling down well, so we were adamant that she would stay where she was, and the home backed us up and spoke on our behalf. The decoration is not up to everyone's choice, but it's the care and attention they give to the residents that count as far as I am concerned.

I wanted to thank the Manager and her lovely staff for getting my mum back on the road to recovery.

She had fallen very ill and eventually returned home from hospital and fell ill again with little cognitive ability. Without their help and that of other staff, I’m sure she wouldn’t have been able

to go home.

Her time at Larchfield was a happy one and the staff and fellow residents were really lovely and helpful. We were very pleased and lucky that mum had been placed there as it was close to her home which she loved. Her room was perfect and the food was something she looked forward to - as well as the interaction, games and having her hair and nails done. She enjoyed looking out onto the lovely garden.

She is doing well and has come on leaps and bounds and is more her usual self. Thanks to all concerned for their help.

Mum's care was managed under tricky Covid 19 conditions and ever-changing visiting rules across the UK which was hard but well handled by the management.

I would like to thank the Care Home Manager and her staff for the wonderful care provided to my late mother during the last four years of her life. Kind, caring and totally professional. She could not have ended her days in a safer, more caring or loving environment and I feel lucky to have had Larchfield's
support. Cleanliness and hygiene were always exemplary and the staff were just incredible. The Care Home Manager and the team have managed the home in a very diligent manner during Covid and lock downs. Thanks all

My mother lived at Larchfield Manor Care Home from 2007 until her death in 2021. During her stay, my mother needed progressively more assistance and care as her capabilities diminished and the home readily evolved their care package in response.
Inevitably in the fourteen years of her stay at Larchfield,
a variety of issues and requests arose and these were always addressed in discussion with the management team in a very effective and productive manner.

On her 89th Birthday, my mother asked us to find her a home where she could be looked after and she would not need to cook or shop for herself. This was a shock to us as my mother had always been extremely independent, having been widowed 35 years previously. At this time my mother was deteriorating
in health and we were all concerned for her safety as she continued to live alone. We began to make enquiries and thankfully Larchfield Manor was recommended to us. My mother moved in two weeks later and, thanks to the care and commitment of all the staff, I am delighted to report that we have just celebrated Mum's 95th Birthday! As a family, we are more than aware that Mum is still with us because she lives at Larchfield Manor. Mum cannot speak more highly of all the staff and we have always found them to be extremely friendly, professional, caring and supportive in all situations. We would not hesitate to recommend Larchfield Manor.

My mother is settling into Larchfield Manor. We're currently still dealing with Covid restrictions, with the staff managing the balance of safety and contact with my mother well. My mother is enjoying getting to know the helpful and kind staff. She is being encouraged to settle in including a lovely
birthday celebration for her with a cake to share. The grounds are beautiful and my mother enjoys watching the birds from the window and the seasons changing. Communication with us about my mother's needs is good despite the current Covid restrictions. It seems a cheerful, happy place where the needs of the residents are prioritised.

Every member of staff who has looked after my mother has done so in a friendly, caring manner, with an attitude that suggests that they enjoy their work.
The food is excellent. My mother was very thin on admission and has slowly gained appropriate weight.
There are daily activity sessions attended
by most residents. My mother was encouraged to attend and supported when she did so. The activities are now one of the high points of her day.
Friends and relatives are free to visit throughout the day. I have become used to being welcomed and commonly enjoy a cup of tea and a cake with my mother most afternoons!
The atmosphere at Larchfield Manor is much like a friendly club. I strongly recommend a visit if you or a relative are considering residential care.

Looking for a residential home for our 90+ mother, we were recommended Larchfield. So we visited and talked freely to staff and residents. We were impressed and rightly so because from day one, the quality of service was apparent. Mother was not the easiest resident - she was reluctant at first and
it took time for her to feel at home. But, gradually, she blended in. Food and drink were always available and a trolley constantly seemed to be doing the rounds. Tea and cakes for visitors also. Most important to us was to be able to visit when we wanted (absolutely!) and take out as we wished (of course!). The gardens were not used by many but she loved being able to walk around and do a bit of weeding/dead-heading of roses, things she was used to at home. Never a harsh word from staff - not even heard from afar. It was a place we could trust implicitly until the day, a year and half on, when she peacefully passed away.

Current Review Score: 9.7 (9.687)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.7 (9.687) out of 10 for Larchfield Manor is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 9 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.830 for Larchfield Manor is calculated as follows: ( (88 Excellents x 5) + (18 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 106 Ratings = 4.83

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.857 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Larchfield Manor is based on 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.9

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 47 registered maximum number of service users is 9.4. 9 Positive Reviews ÷ 9.4 = 0.957

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
