Larchfield Manor has a very homely and peaceful atmosphere. My mother is in a recently decorated, en-suite room, which is kept clean and tidy. The staff are friendly and are very caring and attentive to my mother’s needs. The family are confident my mum is in a safe and secure environment.
If I should
need care in the future, I would be very happy to become a resident.

My mother has just become a resident at Larchfield Manor and I can confirm that all the staff, especially the managers, have helped her to settle into her new home. They have done everything in a very professional manner. The home is run in a friendly way and everything is clean and fresh. The food
always looks and smells delicious and the residents are treated with dignity and respect. I would have no hesitation in recommending Larchfield Manor to anyone who is looking for a nursing home for a loved one.

My Dad and his partner went to Larchfield Manor for respite care. Dad struggles to get around, aged 94 and his partner needed support having had a number of falls. The staff made them welcome and immediately put them at ease with a friendly approachable manner. They were shown around and given an insight
into the runnings and activities available. For example, they were delighted to see the pet pony.
An assessment of their needs was carried out in a clear and professional manner.
Dad and partner decided to stay after the respite care and were able to move in a few of their personal belongings.
Issues do arise but staff keep us well informed and decisions are made together. We feel very comfortable that they are being well cared for.

My mother and father lived at Larchfield for five years together and my mother an extra three. No matter when we visited the staff were always seen to treat any parents with dignity and care. They always kept us informed and rang us if they were concerned about my parents. They always went the extra
mile in caring for my parents e.g. playing music on their own phone to my Mum when she was dying, to soothe her. I would recommend this home wholeheartedly as the staff really care.

My parents both entered Larchfield Manor in August 2017. The care they received (up to them passing away in October 2018 and March 2019 respectively) was exemplary. They were full of praise for all the staff and my wife and I were consistently impressed by the efforts that the home went to in looking
after my parents. Both my parents felt really comfortable in the home and thought that their bedrooms and the panelled dining room/hallway were lovely. In short, we would have no hesitation in recommending Larchfield to others.

Larchfield Manor is much to be recommended.
The care and attention that my mother receives is excellent at all times. In addition, all the staff are invariably kind and helpful not only to my mother but also to all of her family and friends.
We continue to be most grateful to all concerned.

Dad moved into the Coach House at Larchfield Manor in September 2018. Since that time the home has exceeded all of our expectations. Dad is treated with the utmost dignity and respect by the amazing staff and management and we could not be any happier with the treatment and care he receives.
We visit
him most days and always get a lovely reception from every one of the staff - it really is home from home and there is always something for Dad to do if he chooses.
As a family it was not an easy decision to make moving Dad into a care home, however him being in such a warm and friendly environment helps us all relax knowing he is safe and well cared for.

Mum is a current resident at Larchfield Manor and I am pleased to say that she has settled in very well in her first five months of care. The home has a very positive feel to it and the staff are caring, friendly and very professional. Mum is happy at Larchfield and she looks to be well looked after.

Thank you.

I cannot express enough how overwhelmed I am at the care, in every aspect, that has been given to my mother whilst staying at Larchfield Manor. The home itself is well equipt clean and tidy with beautiful meals and lovely activities but the manager and the whole team of staff are second to none. I cannot
have asked for anywhere better for my mother to be in.

My wife (who has Alzheimers and mobility problems) has had two respite breaks at Larchfield Manor during this summer and I cannot fault the standard of care given to her. The staff treated her with compassion and understanding and were always attentive to her needs. She was made to feel welcome from
the outset. The home, though not luxurious, offers an acceptable degree of comfort throughout its various rooms and there is always a good range of activities to keep the residents occupied. The garden area is attractive and offers plenty of seating for residents to enjoy the outdoor space.

My brother spent over six years at Larchfield. He was settled and contented there. All the management and staff were very helpful and friendly. They always kept me informed of any change in my brother's condition. He was encouraged to join in the activities, which he enjoyed, especially the quizzes.

Nothing

was too much trouble for the management and staff, which made me feel confident that my brother was well cared for. I cannot thank them enough for everything they did to make the last years of my brother's life so comfortable and homely.

My mum had an unfortunately brief stay at Larchfield. She had been living at home with mild dementia but then had a bad fall which left her a bit wobbly and more confused so she was unsafe to be on her own. We were very nervous about her going into a home and she was horrified when she saw the sign
saying "Care Home". However, from the second the manager welcomed her into the property, she felt wanted, valued, calm and safe. I cannot fault any of the staff at Larchfield, every one of them were caring, considerate and capable. Mum went from never wanting to go in "one of those places" to being the most content and happy we had seen her in a long time. Unfortunately, due to complications from the fall before she went to Larchfield, she had to be readmitted to hospital and now into a nursing environment. The ambience of the house and gardens is wonderful if you want something more traditional than clinical and modern. I stayed for lunch with mum on one occasion and the food was delicious.

The standard of care, which is the most important factor, is exceptional. There was not a single member of staff we had dealings with who did not show outstanding levels of compassion and care in the way that they carried out their roles.

My mother was in Larchfield Manor for 2 months for respite care. Her ground floor room was extremely pleasant - always warm, lovely outlook onto the gardens, en-suite facilities, fresh and pleasant decor. Staff were always respectful, friendly and professional. Dining room - always set with tablecloths
and flowers. Lovely grounds - very well kept. Decor in the main areas a little tired and could do with updating in the future but overall a very positive stay.

My grandmother-in-law finally decided it was time she went into full-time care as her anxiety was becoming too much for her and she no longer wanted to live at home on her own.
It was a very difficult decision for her to make and one that couldn't be rushed. From the moment I emailed the response and
general attitude of the staff has been beyond our expectations. I emailed bank holiday Monday and got a phone call the next day, we were invited to come and have a look around on Wednesday and she was allowed to move in following a home assessment on Friday. The staff have been amazing treating her with respect and dignity but also a sense of humour which is hugely important in this kind of role. As a family, they have made us all feel very welcome and the visitors who have been to see her have been very impressed with the care and the building which are both very welcoming. The rooms are lovely and cosy and the communal facilities are very homely. Overall, very impressed.

Since Mum moved to Larchfield we no longer have to worry about her care. We know that she is safe and well cared for. The staff really do care about the residents and are always ready to have a chat with the family. Mum can be stubborn and quite difficult, but the staff are patient and understanding.
She couldn't be better cared for. Thankyou to all the staff.

My aunt could not cope at home due to anxiety. She spent 6 weeks at Larchfield Manor following which she is now confident to return to her home and lifestyle. Regular meals and medication plus rest and relaxation has made a huge difference to her demeanour.

Mum went to live at the Coach House/Dementia unit 3 years 8 months ago. She felt welcomed and safe. She had her privacy and yet was encouraged to join in the numerous activities. Nothing was too much trouble.

We cannot praise the management and staff enough. As her dementia progressed she received

more attention, help, love and care. Above all the care, which was wonderful, it was the love which shines through the staff at Larchfield.

At the end of Mum's life, she needed nursing care which is not really the facility offered, but with their big heart, knowing the end was near, they nursed her with end of life care to help and she passed away after 4 days. At ALL times if we were not there we were kept abreast of her situation as it changed. When she did pass, the staff who were on duty all came to say goodbye to her. I think that says it all. If you are looking for a place where your loved one will have great care and you will have peace of mind, look no further.

Current Review Score: 9.7 (9.687)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.7 (9.687) out of 10 for Larchfield Manor is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 9 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.830 for Larchfield Manor is calculated as follows: ( (88 Excellents x 5) + (18 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 106 Ratings = 4.83

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.857 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Larchfield Manor is based on 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.9

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 47 registered maximum number of service users is 9.4. 9 Positive Reviews ÷ 9.4 = 0.957

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
