I find the all the staff at Cedar House very friendly. They've always got a smile when they open the door. If we've got any problem, it's always sorted. Dad is very settled now and it's lovely to see him getting involved with the activities. We are very happy with his care.

The staff are always very friendly and helpful and my mam seems to be very happy there. They do lots of activities and parties for the residents and it's a happy place. There are always plenty of staff at work so there is always someone at hand if needed.

My mam has been very well looked after since being in the care home. It took her a while to settle in but now she seems quite settled. She enjoys joining in with the entertainment and likes going on trips out. They always have different themes depending on the time of year which makes it feel homely.
She can help with tidying up especially in the garden which gives her some independence, she always enjoyed looking after her home and garden which makes her feel more at home.

Cannot fault the carers. The main issues have been mam's underwear keep going missing. We have had to keep buying more pairs to replace the missing ones. We take the washing home, so I don't understand how they go missing.
With mam being in bed 24/7 and cannot drink on her own, who's giving her frequent
drinks? When we go sometimes no cup and she is very thirsty when we take her tea.
I know staff are busy but it would be nice to have someone pop in every now and then to give her a drink. Otherwise mam seems settled.
Mam always complains food is cold, I've had to take it down to be microwaved a few times when I'm here as she won't eat it.

Care of my mam is very good. Always on the ball with health situations, the home does activities that try to include as many as possible and if relatives are in the home at that point, they include them by joining in, making them cups of tea etc. I always feel welcome when I visit and feel informed
with her care. Thank you.

The residents are looked after amazingly by the caring staff.
The staff likes to engage with the residents and have them participate in the activities/ party events the home holds.
There is always a lovely homemade available at meal times with various choices, too.
The home is constantly cleaned
and always has a fresh smell in the air.

The staff are amazing, they are always friendly. My mum-in-law has been a resident for eight months and she has settled well.
The staff look after her and I feel confident that they know her and understand her needs well.
When she was poorly recently they were quick to recognise it and act on it calmly,
caring for her throughout.

The care and kindness delivered by the Cedar House team cannot be overestimated. It has been such a reassurance to my father and me that my mam is being cared for by such a caring and professional team. The past few months during the pandemic have been difficult but I have been able to trust that Mam
is being cared for so well and we have been so well supported.

I am very happy with the care given to my parents within Cedar House. They are always treated well by staff who are very caring. They are always clean and well presented. Their room and clothes are always clean. They are always in their own clothes! I would definitely recommend the home to others.

My parents were both admitted here because they were unable to look after themselves and I selected this place because I knew two previous residents who lived here and were extremely happy.
Sadly my father died very suddenly a few months after moving in, but the staff were amazing. My mother currently
lives here and is extremely happy.
Her main topics are the food, which she loves, even eating things she has never eaten in her life before and her room which is quite spacious and has a garden view.
My private views are that the staff are amazing, easy to talk to and to get on with, and if there are any problems at all they keep me in the loop. Nothing seems to be too much trouble for them and should I need to talk to them there is always someone available to allay any fears about any worries, especially this year, which has been a very hard year for them.
If anyone asks, should I look at Cedar House as a place for my parents? I would say yes without hesitating.
Thank you all.

From the day my Mother-in-law was admitted for respite, she has never looked back!
Her health has deteriorated with age, however, the staff at the Cedar, have and are supporting her needs!
The staff have been a great support to Mam during the last 7 months of this pandemic as we have been unable to
see her 1:1 since March. Knowing she is happy and safe is a great support to us all, as a family. Thank you to all that work at the Cedar.

I find the care home adequate for purpose, without a lot of stimulation for residents. Staff are always friendly and helpful while looking after the residents and treat them very respectfully.

During the time my mother has been in the home, I have always found that she is being cared for and well looked after.
Time is found to look after her and explain things to her. All members of staff from the manager down to the cleaner are very pleasant and helpful under very difficult circumstances.
No
problem is difficult to them and have found them able to find a solution to overcome this.
I appreciate the time and patience everyone has shown to my mother and would definitely recommend the home to anyone.

Current Review Score: 9.6 (9.649)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.6 (9.649) out of 10 for Cedar House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 8 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.8 out of 5 from 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.849 for Cedar House is calculated as follows: ( (80 Excellents x 5) + (12 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 93 Ratings = 4.849

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.8 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Cedar House is based on 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.8

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 32 registered maximum number of service users is 6.4, which has been reached with 8 Positive reviews. Points = 1

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
