    The care home has spacious bedrooms that are fully furnished with en-suite facilities, several have Juliet balconies overlooking the gardens. There are comfortable communal lounges with space to chat to friends or more privately with family. There are easily accessible bathing and shower rooms with specialist equipment and lift access on each floor. Spacious dining rooms with the facilities for families to make their own refreshments and beautifully presented gardens.

  • At St Martins Care, they understand how important it is for families to maintain contact with their loved ones and the importance of the sustained and supported involvement of a resident’s families and friends. They also recognise that residents should have full choice over who they wish to see or be visited by.
    In normal circumstances, there will be no restrictions on visiting hours other than those requested by residents collectively or individually. The only exception may be in the incidence of an infection outbreak, where staff will refer to the Outbreak Management and Isolation Nursing Policy and Procedure.
    St Martins Care Limited will always have regard for the current national guidance in relation to visiting rights and they are determined to do all they can to ensure families see their loved ones as much as possible.

My mam went into Washington Manor in May 2024. Since then the difference in her is brilliant. The staff and management are 100% attentive in every aspect of the role. The overall care given to my mam is brilliant. So pleased she is being looked after by the manager and her team.

My auntie has lived in Washington Manor since January 2024. We visit regularly and are always made to feel welcome. The home has a warm and homely feeling to it. The staff are excellent and friendly. They treat my auntie with the dignity and respect she deserves. We are able to enjoy lunch with her
whenever we like, the food is lovely and has a real home-cooked feel to it. Would definitely recommend Washington Manor!

Washington Manor, avoid! I'm disgusted. I've complained to the care home, Adult Social Services, and Care Quality Commission. Concerns included poor infection control procedures. I saw a staff member pour water into the same beaker used to give medicine to everyone in my dad's corridor. My wife saw
this the week before, but I said no home would put residents' health at risk. I was wrong. They admit this is not in line with IPC standards.
No records exist for applying dad's cream after 1st May. I raised concerns about personal hygiene. Records show dad was showered 3 times in February, two times in March, and none in April! His clothes were frequently dirty and unchanged for days including socks and underwear. I was disgusted they claimed my complaint was motivated by money when I was told my dad would have to pay for another four weeks as I removed him with 1 days' notice. This makes no sense as I was offered a fee free month if I kept him there. He now looks cleaner, healthier, and stimulated in his new care home.

We are a proactive and responsive provider and addressed concerns raised immediately and appropriate action was taken. This was communicated to you by the manager. The records show that support was provided every day with washing and dressing and often the resident would dress independently which is so important to maintain and encourage positive mental health and well-being. The records also show an individual who was enabled and supported to maintain a good diet, encouraged to maintain independent living skills and participate in activities that had meaning and interest to him. We apologised for the error with the beaker and that the records did not always reflect our standards. We refute claims that a free month was offered as this is not our policy. A contract was signed that clearly stated 4 weeks' notice to be given by either party but as you have been informed we will not be chasing this debt. We wish your father well for the future and are happy he has settled in his new home.

Yet again I have visited my father to find him in a state of neglect. He was dirty, his nails are filthy and far too long, he did not have his false teeth in but he was expected to manage to eat his lunch. His lunch was not cut up, no specialist cutlery was provided and no one was helping him to eat.
A young lady went and got his dentures from his room.
He cannot manage to feed himself if the food is not cut up, the tray table is set at over 8 inches higher than he can reach when in his chair. He can only use one hand and he stops eating, not because he is no longer hungry but because he is fed up trying to get the food on his fork and into his mouth. We provided specialist cutlery for him to use but that has disappeared. This is not care it is neglect. No one should be left in this state, he is skin and bones and that is because he is malnourished. He says he wants a haircut and his beard and moustache cut but he does not have the capability to go and put his name on the list.

We are in regular contact with his next of kin who has not expressed any concerns about your father's care but we are always open to discussion and thank you for your feedback. We always advise family members to speak with the onsite management team immediately if there is anything they are concerned about or feel does not reflect our high standards. Management are available Monday to Friday and we operate an on-call system for out of hours so are contactable 24/7, as are the senior management team via our website or head office. You should never leave the building feeling anxious about the care of your loved one and we would welcome discussing your concerns further if you wish to contact us to put your mind at rest.

We found Washington Manor as Mum started to deteriorate with her illness. The staff have been extremely supportive throughout and make Mum comfortable and safe on a day-to-day basis. I love the open nature of the home, allowing visits at any time and seeing first-hand daily activities and round-the-clock
care.

The home has a welcome atmosphere. The staff are friendly and helpful. They try to engage the residents to join in communal meals and activities. Sometimes it seems that requests don't always get passed on or actioned as quickly as we would have hoped.

As a family putting Dad in to a home was a really difficult decision, but seeing how he settled from the moment he stepped inside the door was mind-blowing. Management and staff really made him feel welcome and put him at ease, talking him through the progress. I myself have worked in care for 19 years

Washington care home is an excellent-run care home with high performance from staff and management. Residents are well looked after with a home-from-home experience. Staff have really good communication skills with residents. The staff are caring, kind and most of all friendly. Staff have up-to-date
training courses to give them professional knowledge in all aspects of their job. There are activities on a daily basis which is excellent at keeping the resident's minds stimulated which they enjoy. Washington care home has excellent hygiene as cleaned on a regular and daily basis. The food is cooked to an excellent standard and has a variety of different meals with a snack trolly attend the rooms with tea, coffee, biscuits, cakes and fruit. I can honestly say Washington Manor is an excellent care home and would recommend it to any potential resident. I am really enjoying my stay at Washington Manor which is so different from the experience I was expecting.

When it comes to the stage when one of your parents are struggling and needs care it is a worrying time. My dad arrived at Washington Manor after trying everything we could to let him live at home with Mam, but after losing his hip bone and not being able to get around the choice was made for us. We
wanted somewhere close to Washington and his family as possible and when we were told that it would be Washington Manor that was a plus. The place is wonderful with very high standards, the staff are fantastic and always chatting and making sure Dad is fine. He always says how lovely the food is and is really happy every time we go to visit. It was their diamond wedding and the staff set up an afternoon tea for him and my mam which was a fabulous touch. I live in Spain and it makes my life a lot easier knowing he is well looked after. Thanks to all the staff who work there. Top team

Visited my husband’s mother at the home recently. We are 4 hours away by car so it was really important to us to like the home and the staff during this first visit.
The care home staff are so friendly and welcoming and gave us an update on our family member. They seem to offer so much interaction
for the residents which is vital when dealing with early-onset dementia. We are really appreciative of their regular social media posts and videos.

I have previously had poor experiences with care homes and was very apprehensive about my father being admitted to one. He started off as a temporary resident and has been accepted for a full-term placement. I am more than happy with the care and attention he receives more importantly he shows no sign
of distress when I visit. The food is of a high standard and the staff are always helpful and will answer any questions promptly and honestly. I visit at varying times and the standards are consistently high. It is never any trouble to make him a drink when requested and always comes with a smile and more importantly to him a biscuit!
Activities are geared to the time of year which helps with orientation.
It is very reassuring that he is looked after to a consistently high standard and can have things from home for his room. I have no problems recommending the home to anyone who like me was initially apprehensive.

My sister arrived at Washington Manor withdrawn, paranoid, hallucinating and very depressed. With the encouragement of all the staff, she is now socializing with other residents and joining in the afternoon activities. She is well thought of and well cared for. The staff here are amazing.

Helen

Helen Clark

Job Title: Registered Manager

Joined: 2022

From a young age, Helen cared for her dad. This gave her a real passion for caring, so much so that she knew straight away that she wanted to work in care. Helen completed her NVQ level 2 and 3 in school in 2013 and, after that, she worked in several jobs before going to college. In 2016 she had her daughter who is now 7 years old. Helen then returned to work and undertook roles in the community as a carer, something that she really enjoyed. During COVID, Helen chose to take some time out to look after her daughter before deciding to get back into work and joined the team at Washington Manor as a part-time care assistant. She soon realised that she absolutely loved working at Washington Manor and after a few months was promoted into a full-time senior care assistant role. After excelling in that role, Helen was promoted to Deputy Manager and, in January 2025, to the Registered Manager. Helen is really looking forward to taking on the role and new responsibilities. Helen is the perfect example of how someone with the right skills, attitude and determination can progress and develop their career at St Martins Care and she is committed to make a difference to the lives of all the residents of Washington Manor.

She joined the team at Washington Manor in October 2020, starting as a care assistant and was very quickly promoted to senior care assistant. Angela has completed her NVQ Level 4 in Health and Social Care and has recently completed her Moving and Handling Train the Trainer course meaning she can train all her colleagues within the care home.
Angela really enjoys supporting the Senior Care Team with the online systems the company uses to deliver excellent care, such as PCS for care records and Camascope for medication management. Angela was promoted to Deputy Manager in January 2025, and says that she is really looking forward to the opportunity to learn new skills and to putting her 20+ years’ experience into practice. “I am looking forward to supporting the team and ensuring our residents receive the very best care.”
