    The care home has spacious bedrooms that are fully furnished with en-suite facilities, several have Juliet balconies overlooking the gardens. There are comfortable communal lounges with space to chat to friends or more privately with family. There are easily accessible bathing and shower rooms with specialist equipment and lift access on each floor. Spacious dining rooms with the facilities for families to make their own refreshments and beautifully presented gardens.

  • At St Martins Care, they understand how important it is for families to maintain contact with their loved ones and the importance of the sustained and supported involvement of a resident’s families and friends. They also recognise that residents should have full choice over who they wish to see or be visited by.
    In normal circumstances, there will be no restrictions on visiting hours other than those requested by residents collectively or individually. The only exception may be in the incidence of an infection outbreak, where staff will refer to the Outbreak Management and Isolation Nursing Policy and Procedure.
    St Martins Care Limited will always have regard for the current national guidance in relation to visiting rights and they are determined to do all they can to ensure families see their loved ones as much as possible.

I was very anxious about my husband going into care but the staff put my mind at rest. They are lovely and very helpful.
His needs are met and more. There is plenty of activities to keep them busy during the day. Meals are in abundance- plenty of food is available.
I’m very pleased with his stay.

My mum is living with dementia and has been a resident in Washington Manor since early February 2023.
All staff I have encountered are exceptional and give it a very welcoming feel.
Mum is calmer and enjoys socialising with other residents, whilst we are comfortable in the knowledge that she is
safe and looked after. It is always a pleasure to visit.

My mam was a temporary resident at Washington Manor for respite purposes. Mam had always lived independently and the family were surprised when she decided to stay longer on a trial period and then to become a permanent resident. From the beginning mam was made to feel welcome and although I worried
about her loss of independence it was clear she was happy there and felt safe. Being able to bring some of her personal possessions helped to make her room feel familiar too. From my visits I have found all the staff there to be caring, supportive, friendly and cheerful and they have built up a great rapport with mam. The team there have always been very helpful with any requests I have made and it is a great comfort knowing mam is well looked after.

My father had been in Washington Manor for sixteen months until he passed away in February. He was very happy during his time there and settled. It was his home. The staff were excellent at looking after him due to their care and attention. They gave us the most wonderful gift of another 12 months with

My brother originally moved to Washington Manor as a temporary resident, however, after four months he asked to live there permanently. The manager and the team gave him a warm welcome. As a family, we had flexible visits in the early days to help my brother settle in. We have had good communication
with the manager and her team and they have supported my brother with his individual care needs.

I find the care home very friendly and find the staff okay. I would like to see the residents upstairs to do a few more activities.

My mum moved into the home in April 2021 and from day one the staff have been so helpful and supportive. Mum is very happy, settled and safe and that is down to the amazing care she receives as she has dementia and needs extra care and patience. It's a fantastic home and I would highly recommend Washington
Manor to anyone who is looking for a care home for a loved one. The management and staff put their heart and soul into caring for everyone, I honestly don't know what we would do without them so thank you one and all, you are all doing a fantastic job.

My mom-in-law moved into Washington Manor last summer. As a family, we were of course apprehensive about moving her there from her own home. I am happy to say that from day one all the staff have been very friendly and supportive. Before her moving in date, they gave us extra access to her room so it
could be set up, and she even spent a relaxing afternoon in the lounge, chatting and making new friends. Due to lockdown restrictions earlier in the year, she had felt so lonely and so excited to move into her new environment. She likes the building and often says the staff “are friendly and care”.
Since she moved into Washington Manor we have had no concerns about the level of care she received. My mom-in-law has Alzheimer’s, so of course, there are times when she needs a little extra attention, and the staff there have been very supportive of her needs, this can be a medical issue or just someone to sit and talk to her.

My mam was admitted to Washington Manor in June after a spell in hospital. She had had a number of falls during the previous months and needed 24-hour care. Choosing a home for mam was proving difficult until I visited Washington Manor. Straight away I felt at ease as everyone was very welcoming and
the place was airy and clean. Mam settled in quickly and always speaks highly of the care she receives. Through the hard work and dedication of the staff mam's general wellbeing has improved greatly and she is now more her old self. She is eating well, is more communicative and is slowly becoming more mobile than she was. I feel this is due to the care and support provided by all the staff at the home. Nothing is too much bother and everyone is friendly and happy to give me updates on mam's progress. The manager was particularly flexible over visiting when my sister came from abroad to see mam. We both really appreciated this and would like to say a big 'thank you' to all staff.

My Mother has been a resident at Washington Manor for a month now and I cannot praise the staff and management there highly enough. They have done everything possible to make my Mother feel welcome and at home. While I have not been able to visit the home due to Covid, I have frequently spoken to members
of staff who are happy to update me on how my Mother has been and answer any questions I have. My mother has told me that she is happy there and that all the staff are "lovely". I hope to be able to visit in the near future and meet the people who are doing such a wonderful job of caring for my mother.

The staff are so lovely and caring. The home is lovely and clean and I can't fault it at all. My mam is very happy and she loves the staff. I'm glad as it is a lot of worry off my shoulders, knowing she is settled. I would recommend Washington Manor.

My uncle moved into Washington Manor in December 2020. I only visited him twice, due to Covid restrictions and that was in a visiting pod, so I didn’t go inside the home. When I visited him, he had settled in well. He said the home was “top class”. He was nicely dressed in his own clothes and looked
well. He looked more like his normal self than when he had been in his own home. He spent time in hospital before he moved into the home but I wasn’t able to visit him there.

My parents went to Washington Manor at very short notice for respite care. My father, the main carer for my mother who has dementia, fell and broke his ankle early on Christmas day and is unable to walk.
By teatime they were installed in two interconnecting rooms - the staff made one into a bedroom
and the other a sitting room by moving furniture.
My parents are very comfortable, they say the food is good, staff are very kind and nothing is too much trouble.
Although activities are limited at present, my father has enjoyed playing dominoes with other residents and having the opportunity to play the piano.

Washington Manor has fulfilled all my wishes for the best care of my parents. They are efficient and friendly, the premises are clean, light and well decorated. My parents managed to get rooms next door to each other and spent their last months together. The staff knew them well and catered to their
individual needs and treated them with respect and friendship. They allowed my father his independence and freedom and gave my mother the high level of personal care she needs. My mother has been bed-bound for over a year and needs feeding and yet her skin is in excellent condition, her mouth is clean and she still has a good appetite. No one could have looked after them any better. It has put my mind at rest when I am unable to be with them myself.

My mother has lived at Washington Manor since December 2018, due to her ongoing care needs. In the time my mother has lived there she has been treated and received excellent care and we can't thank the staff and carers enough for her care. It has been challenging for all during the current pandemic,
but keeping in touch by telephone we have been informed and updated on her health and general wellbeing.


Once again we can't thank everyone at Washington Manor enough and hope the new normal arrives soon so visits can resume.

My dad arrived here as a very unsettled, confused old man with a broken shoulder. Since he's been in their care, you would think my dad has had a personality transplant. He's so settled, happy, relaxed and content. I have never seen me dad look so healthy in such a long long time, and that is down to
the amazing care he's receiving from all the staff there.
My dad can’t speak due to a bad stoke and within 3 days of being in there they knew what my dad meant when he needed a drink, and for that I take my hat off to yous, because you are taking the time and having the patience to get to know his needs, honestly, thank you so much. When I was told my dad had to go into care, me and my family were absolutely heartbroken and distraught as you hear so many horror stories. We were more anxious than most through Dad's lack of speech, but the smile and the content on his face and his body language tells a happy story. On my first visit, I just had this really good vibe and my mind was totally put at ease.

The staff are lovely, very approachable and caring and have been very good with Dad since he came in on 4th of January 2018.
The peace of mind for myself and the rest of the family since he came in is lovely and being able to visit whenever suits us as well.

Meet the Team (2)

Helen

Helen Clark

Job Title: Registered Manager

Joined: 2022

From a young age, Helen cared for her dad. This gave her a real passion for caring, so much so that she knew straight away that she wanted to work in care. Helen completed her NVQ level 2 and 3 in school in 2013 and, after that, she worked in several jobs before going to college. In 2016 she had her daughter who is now 7 years old. Helen then returned to work and undertook roles in the community as a carer, something that she really enjoyed. During COVID, Helen chose to take some time out to look after her daughter before deciding to get back into work and joined the team at Washington Manor as a part-time care assistant. She soon realised that she absolutely loved working at Washington Manor and after a few months was promoted into a full-time senior care assistant role. After excelling in that role, Helen was promoted to Deputy Manager and, in January 2025, to the Registered Manager. Helen is really looking forward to taking on the role and new responsibilities. Helen is the perfect example of how someone with the right skills, attitude and determination can progress and develop their career at St Martins Care and she is committed to make a difference to the lives of all the residents of Washington Manor.


Angela

Angela Needs

Job Title: Deputy Manager

Joined: 2020

Angela has been working in the care sector for over 20 years. She joined the team at Washington Manor in October 2020, starting as a care assistant and was very quickly promoted to senior care assistant. Angela has completed her NVQ Level 4 in Health and Social Care and has recently completed her Moving and Handling Train the Trainer course meaning she can train all her colleagues within the care home.
Angela really enjoys supporting the Senior Care Team with the online systems the company uses to deliver excellent care, such as PCS for care records and Camascope for medication management. Angela was promoted to Deputy Manager in January 2025, and says that she is really looking forward to the opportunity to learn new skills and to putting her 20+ years’ experience into practice. “I am looking forward to supporting the team and ensuring our residents receive the very best care.”
