Charlotte Grange is an excellent care home.
The staff are very capable, friendly, professional, helpful, considerate and always there to assist all the residents.
The care home is very clean and tidy and recently redecorated with colourful themes for the residents to enjoy.
My mother feels very secure
and happy.
All the staff are very cheerful and seem to enjoy their work, which reflects on the residents.
There are plenty of activities, bingo, dancing, singing, pantos, hairdressing etc and the meals are very good.
There is a real family feel.

My dad is happy here. He likes the staff and residents. He doesn't participate in activities much, he's just happy watching the world go by and doing his word search. He is always sitting in the lounge and he is very contented.

I came here August 2016 to be most welcomed by staff. I'm allowed to keep my scooter indoors. I continue to find it most welcoming as it is a purpose built building. It is excellent.

Since mam has been in Charlotte Grange Residential Care Home, I didn't know such a lovely place existed. I worked in a care home for 13 years and I've been to a few care homes when I was working as a carer, you notice things. If my mam hadn't have been rushed in this home, she wouldn't be alive today.
She broke her hip and has COPD. Mam was laid up at home, all she wanted to do was sleep and eat (well I say eat) she didn't want to eat until we kept saying "if you don't eat, you'll be back in the hospital". Taking mam into Charlotte Grange was the best thing that could have happened. From coming through the door of the home, I looked at my sister and said "this is home" I got that lovely feeling you get when buying a home. I have never known such lovely, kind, caring people who treat all the residents like family. Day, evening or through the night, nothing is a bother for them. The boss of the home doesn't strut about with a badge on, she helps with the carers, she's very good at her job. Also, I never say are we going up the care home, I say are we going up 'me mothers', as thou she was in her own home. Carers cuddle the residents as though they were family. It's lovely to see, it's like one big family. Seven days a week there are activities put on for everyone, it's a lovely atmosphere to be amongst.

During my Mothers stay within the Middleton unit of Charlotte Grange, she was treated with respect, dignity and care. When visiting, it was obvious that the staff cared for other residents in the same manner. My mothers room could have done with a spruce up but not sure about others.

My in-laws came into Charlotte Grange in April undernourished and unable to care for themselves.
Within 2 weeks the difference in their mental well-being and physical appearance was significantly noticeable.
Three months later they are happy, clean, well fed and continue to improve due to the caring
staff.
We live a 6-hour round trip away and their key workers are always very welcoming and update us on how they are getting on. They also telephone us with health updates when necessary.
We have noticed that the staff treat all residents equally despite varying individual needs.
Some of the stress of having to place 2 elderly people in permanent care has been alleviated by Charlotte Grange.

Current Review Score: 9.2 (9.227)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.2 (9.227) out of 10 for Charlotte Grange Residential Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.3 out of 5 from 9 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.349 for Charlotte Grange Residential Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (49 Excellents x 5) + (47 Goods x 4) + (8 Satisfactorys x 3) + (2 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 106 Ratings = 4.349

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.878 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Charlotte Grange Residential Care Home is based on 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.9

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 46 registered maximum number of service users is 9.2. 9 Positive Reviews ÷ 9.2 = 0.978

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
