Elwick Grange offers residential and dementia care from a pleasant setting close to the centre of Hartlepool. The modern, purpose-built care home has a highly qualified team that provides the very best standards of care.

Team members receive the latest dementia training and offer one-to-one sessions with residents that have proven to be effective in helping them to retain a sense of self-esteem and independence. At Elwick Grange, residents are encouraged to live as independently as possible. The home has access to shops and a local library, and regular trips are made to nearby attractions in its minibus.

All the staff are very friendly and best of all treat residents visitors with respect and humour. When visiting we have joined in with quizzes and always have a good laugh.

Mam has had a rough time with her health lately. The staff have been really great helping us navigate the challenges. The staff have even travelled and stayed with mam when she needed to go to hospital and we were not able to go. They have kept us up to date with all envelopes and are always very understanding.
Mam is always cared for and her appearance is always good. Nothing is ever too much trouble.

Mam has had a couple of falls lately which have needed hospital visits. These have been quite worrying for us as a family. Throughout all this time staff have been fantastic in supporting us, caring for mam and listening to our concerns. Even supporting me in putting my concerns about poor care in the
hospital into perspective, so that I could alert the correct people about the failings in mam's care at hospital.

My mum entered the home in December 2023. The carers and all the staff are very attentive and caring. She was poorly when she arrived having dementia they stabilised her and she picked up, but has been unwell recently and all of the staff have been very good and kept us well informed of everything.
She has started to pick up again. They have helped us massively with their experience of caring for dementia patients liquidising her food which makes her have all of her meats and she has started to put weight on. We are happy with this home and so is she.

Mam was recovering from a serious bout of flu when we were informed of a bell. As soon as she moved in she was given a full health check and all meds were looked at and some changed. Improvement in Mam's physical health and her attitude to everything around her changed for the better - she has dementia.
The atmosphere in Elwick Grange is fabulous! The staff are so caring and friendly to residents and their families. I feel very lucky that my Mum is living there. I have the utmost confidence in all aspects of her care. As soon as you go in there is a calm, relaxing atmosphere. Thank you all so much!

Best of the best. Lovely clean environment. Fabulous staff which accommodates residents' individual needs - care is second to none. Overall very happy with our experience with the care home. All staff/cleaners and management made a difficult time so much easier when transitioning a relative here. 5

My mum has been in Elwich Grange Care Hoe for five weeks now, and I can honestly say, I have never seen her so happy. She has dementia, and going to Elwich Grange has made her happy and engaged. She was sad, depressed and disengaged before this. The food is fabulous, and the staff are amazing, caring
and happy... That reflects on the residents too. They have the things to every day to interact with the residents and lots of entertainment. The best thing we ever did was to move Mum here.

My mother is a new resident at Elwick Grange, we had to get her a place at short notice when my father died suddenly. This was a very difficult time for us and we have been very impressed by the kindness of the staff. Everyone seems genuinely caring and there has been a very warm atmosphere every time
we have visited. I have been delighted to see pictures on social media of my mother joining in a variety of activities.

My mother-in-law is a resident at Elwick Grange. Really pleased to enter a home with such an upbeat and bright atmosphere. Not at all what I expected from a care home. The staff were all very pleasant and obviously knew the residents well with plenty of interaction between them. Well-presented home
which was smart yet still had a homely feel to it. I am very happy knowing that my mother-in-law is in a good place at Elwick Grange.

The staff are always amazing but always go the extra mile on celebrations. The fireworks party was enjoyed by everyone and they had lots of interaction which is always good. I think they enjoyed the hot chocolate and marshmallows best!
The Remembrance display was fantastic, I tried to get photos in
the local paper but wasn't successful.
I'd recommend this care home to anyone.

Ever since my mom was placed in the care home, she has had a smile on her face every day. All the staff treat her with respect and dignity. She couldn't have been placed in a better care home because this one is perfect in our opinion.

Since we arrived with short notice we have been welcomed, cared for, and understood.
When upset or just with queries we have been advised, listened to, and supported.
There seem to be lots of activities which we have received photos of and have joined in.

Wendy Winspear

Job Title: Home Manager

I’ve worked for Care UK for 15 years now. I’d been working in retail, but a family member worked here at the time and told me how good the home was, from the management down, and how well the team got to know residents and their families. It sounded like a place I wanted to be a part of.


I started as a domestic assistant and have worked my way up the ranks, doing all the training I could, including Care UK’s special training aimed at home managers of the future. It took confidence to put myself forward to be the Home Manager, but I’m so happy I did because I absolutely love my job.


My walkarounds are some of my favourite times of the day when I get to speak to residents and families. We have a brilliant team at Elwick Grange and the best thing about working here is being able to play a part in providing quality care to residents and enabling them to live happy, fulfilling lives.


Any spare time I have I like to spend with my husband, family and friends. I enjoy travelling to new places for days out or weekends away. I also enjoy reading, and I do try to keep fit.
