Nunthorpe Oaks is a beautiful home which has recently undergone a stunning refurbishment. With a warm family feel the moment you walk through the door, it feels like home from home.

Providing residential care, the team also offers respite care breaks, which are ideal for carers looking after loved ones, who would like to plan a short break themselves.   

There are spacious lounges and a garden room, as well as a new bistro-style café area. And there’s a hair salon and nail bar, for regular appointments with the mobile hairdresser, plus pampering sessions with facials, manicures and hand massages.

The gardens are beautiful and are the perfect spot to relax with loved ones, who are welcome at any time. Nunthorpe Oaks also has a private family and friends Facebook group, where families can see what their loved ones have been enjoying doing, even if they can’t be there in person.

The residents enjoy so many activities, with music from local choirs and musical entertainers to karaoke. The home even has its own choir. There are regular gentle exercise sessions, crafts, knit and knatter, baking and cocktail evenings, as well as trips to local parks, shopping and garden centres and coffee shops.

In the dining rooms, the residents enjoy delicious home-cooked meals prepared by the chef, who was proud to be crowned Best Performing Chef for the entire region at Sanctuary Care’s annual Chefs’ Conference (2023). From roast dinners with all the trimmings, to fish and chip Fridays and lighter bites like home-made soups. And there is home-baking every day for afternoon tea, with the chef’s cheese scones and cakes always going down a treat.

The local community are embraced into life at Nunthorpe Oaks, with regular church services and hymns in the home to visits from local school children.

Very clean environment. Staff always welcoming and helpful. The only slight problem is food for Mum due to her dietary needs. She cannot eat eggs and cheese. Staff very encouraging to ensure engagement with activities. Thank you.

Everything about this home is great, the manager and assistant manager are very approachable and always willing to talk nothing is ever a trouble.
Every single member of staff always go the extra mile to make sure the residents are well cared for and treat with dignity. There is always some kind of
activity on, they all really seem to enjoy their job and it shows. They really are all so lovely, friendly and treat everyone with respect - I visit a lot and never once have I seen anything other than fantastic care. Mam is happy there and having dementia can be a little bit of a challenge at times but they calm her when she gets anxious and always reassure her. She likes all the staff and it means a lot to know she's in safe hands and happy especially when she didn't want to ever go into a home in the first place but they won her over and she is very happy and content - massive thanks to each and every one of you, great teamwork.

The staff are always very helpful, friendly and always smiling. The home is always clean and has a lot of activities going on every day. The food always looks delicious and always have a tea trolley coming around. I have been visiting for over six months and would recommend Nunthorpe Oaks to anyone

The care given to my dad is exceptional. The staff are all so good and patient with him. The food is very good and well-balanced. He is very settled here and it makes such a difference to know he is somewhere lovely and taken care of and safe. Would highly recommend.

This home is outstanding in so many ways. The care my brother is receiving is second to none. I have never seen my brother so happy. The residents are all happy. We are very happy with the care and support provided to our family member at Nunthorpe Oaks. The atmosphere is warm and friendly and all areas of the building are spotless and inviting. During December staff made lots of effort to provide a good atmosphere for all residents which Mum really enjoyed. Mum had a fall in late December and the staff went above and beyond to help her and stay with her until help arrived. I always find the staff helpful and friendly and willing to talk to
me and answer any questions. Well done to everyone.

The staff are to be congratulated for all the care provided. Christmas and New Year were memorable with all the special decorations, excellent food, like a 4-star hotel and the Christmas and New Year parties. I have also enjoyed an outing to a particular place, the first time since February last year.

Mum recently suffered a fall and sustained a badly broken upper arm, for which the only treatment was to put the arm in a sling. The care and support from the team at Nunthorpe Oaks during this difficult time was amazing. So much so that we, the family, managed to salvage one week of a two week holiday,
confident that Mum was in the best possible hands. Can't thank or praise them enough.

Super, friendly, supportive staff. Great communication between staff and family. Always plenty of activities going on. We visited our aunty to celebrate her 100th birthday. The people that were working at this care home were so friendly. They had put on a lovely party to help her celebrate and even provided a beautiful cake. It was my first visit but I was really impressed by this care home.

Overall the care, facilities, activities and staff are good. My father says the food has improved recently but before that not enough variation in the menu. Most desserts are served with cream, the goujons too hard to chew and how about a little more fish/seafood on the menu?
