Nunthorpe Oaks is a beautiful home which has recently undergone a stunning refurbishment. With a warm family feel the moment you walk through the door, it feels like home from home.

Providing residential care, the team also offers respite care breaks, which are ideal for carers looking after loved ones, who would like to plan a short break themselves.   

There are spacious lounges and a garden room, as well as a new bistro-style café area. And there’s a hair salon and nail bar, for regular appointments with the mobile hairdresser, plus pampering sessions with facials, manicures and hand massages.

The gardens are beautiful and are the perfect spot to relax with loved ones, who are welcome at any time. Nunthorpe Oaks also has a private family and friends Facebook group, where families can see what their loved ones have been enjoying doing, even if they can’t be there in person.

The residents enjoy so many activities, with music from local choirs and musical entertainers to karaoke. The home even has its own choir. There are regular gentle exercise sessions, crafts, knit and knatter, baking and cocktail evenings, as well as trips to local parks, shopping and garden centres and coffee shops.

In the dining rooms, the residents enjoy delicious home-cooked meals prepared by the chef, who was proud to be crowned Best Performing Chef for the entire region at Sanctuary Care’s annual Chefs’ Conference (2023). From roast dinners with all the trimmings, to fish and chip Fridays and lighter bites like home-made soups. And there is home-baking every day for afternoon tea, with the chef’s cheese scones and cakes always going down a treat.

The local community are embraced into life at Nunthorpe Oaks, with regular church services and hymns in the home to visits from local school children.

A lot of effort was displayed by staff in ensuring my mum's transition into a care home was as easy as possible for her. It is lovely to see her developing relationships with the staff, who treat her with dignity and have good banter with her. This is a good outcome for mum and the whole family. We
feel happy that she is safe, comfortable and cared for. Thank you and well done.

Dad's care has been excellent and all of the staff have been lovely and caring. Dad has flourished in the time he has been here and we haven't seen him looking so well for a long time. He is joining in lots of activities and loves the company of the other residents. All the staff are so cheerful and
support my dad. We are kept connected with my dad through Skype which has given us great peace of mind.

Mum was taken in here after she had a fall and fractured her wrist and ribs on Christmas day. The staff cheered her up and the food and service to my mum was excellent. She was never alone there and even though she was diagnosed with dementia, she was and is still very bright. She has had two more falls
since and once again been admitted to this home she was looking forward to seeing them all and rang me today to say don’t worry about me I'm happy here. This means the world when you know they are happy. Thanks guys, your work means the world to us.

Mum has been at the home for about five years. I know mum has always been looked after very well. The staff have worked tirelessly through the Covid epidemic and always manage to keep smiling. What a wonderful place. We, as a family, could have not found a better place than this. The care, compassion, empathy, quality choices were over and above. I have seen quite a few care homes in my time, but this one is at the top of the list. Having worked in the care industry, I would very well recommend

Nunthorpe Oaks is a lovely care home - very well suited to my mother's needs. The staff are very attentive and as a family, we're content in knowing she is being well cared for. Over the Christmas period, the home was beautifully decorated with lots happening to keep the residents entertained. Families

Mum took a while to settle into Nunthorpe Oaks but the staff took time to get her needs and personality. She gets the best of care and is really happy to participate in events. The new manager is a great improvement and now that renovations are complete, the home looks lovely. The food is excellent
too. The care staff are doing a great job in these difficult Covid times.

This is over and above a care home. The care is amazing, as are the carers. The food is excellent, and the rooms are so pretty, functional, accessible and so clean. The facilities are brilliant, with various meeting and seating areas, both quiet and buzzy, and even a bistro restaurant as well as a dining
room. What I did notice is that the encouragement to mix has meant that the home is alive and has something for everyone. I cannot praise this home for my dad enough, and both my brother and I agree we made an excellent choice. It is light, bright and happy and gives very good vibes. Their Covid precautions are excellent.

My mum came into the home at the beginning of May 2021. We have found most things have been good. A few issues with the booking in system for visits but overall we are very pleased. I do think we could be advised on a regular basis how our loved ones are doing, especially when my Mum arrived, there
seemed to be no one to speak to, I had to look for the manager in the end. The Covid testing lad tended to be the only one who knew how she was doing. He wasn't a carer but tried his best to fill me in.

Our residents at Nunthorpe Oaks come first. I love interacting with them and supporting them to feel happy and fulfilled. We have so many lovely activities going on to enrich their lives. I am deeply passionate about involving the local community in life in the home, keeping those community connections alive for our residents to enjoy.
