Anchor's Millbeck in Norton is a purpose-built home supporting up to 30 older people to live a comfortable lifestyle. The home is situated a short distance away from local shops and amenities, within a leafy village setting and continues to welcome new residents.

The home strives to deliver a range of residential care services, including respite care and long-term care for those who can no longer look after themselves. Millbeck also provides care for older people living with dementia.

The care team gets to know customers and work with them to organise wellness activities, which match individual and group interests, both in the care home as well as in the local community.

Each customer’s individual needs are regularly assessed to ensure their care plans meet their lifestyle requirements. Meals are cooked fresh, from locally sourced and seasonal ingredients where possible, and by highly trained chefs and kitchen staff.

Anchor is England’s largest provider of housing and care for those over 55 years of age and has 60 years of experience as a not-for-profit provider of services to older people.

I visit my auntie once a week. I find staff are pleasant but very busy, meaning residents can become a bit isolated in their rooms and they could do with some motivation to go out or get involved with indoor activities which are good at this care home. The laundry system is a bit haphazard with clothes
going missing and getting mixed up, but they are trying to improve.

We have a full programme of activities and trips based on our resident's interests but we respect their wishes if they do not wish to participate. My mum has just spent 2 weeks in Millbeck for respite, first time ever so we were apprehensive but from the moment we went through the doors, we were met by friendly, pleasant, helpful staff from the housekeeping, admin, carers and catering.
The chef even made my mum a birthday cake as it was her
92nd birthday whilst she was in there.
We are hopeful for a long term room when one comes available. Millbeck is clean and kept tidy and is an absolutely refreshing change from others we had researched.

Millbeck is conveniently located with a pleasant outlook from resident's rooms and communal areas. The staff are friendly and very helpful, treating the residents with respect and caring for their dignity. The food choices are very good and the catering team will accommodate special requests/needs.
The garden areas could do with a bit of care, but as it is early in the season I am sure this will be all in hand.

Millbeck has a friendly welcoming atmosphere.
The management is always available and extremely helpful.
The staff is caring and understanding, nothing is too much trouble.
The cook and her staff are always ready to help the residents with any dietary needs.
The home is well maintained and interesting
new features have been painted on some of the corridor walls.
The gardens are well looked after and give a lovely feeling to Millbeck.
My mother is happy and settled in this lovely, caring environment and I would not hesitate to recommend it.

I discovered this care home by chance when I drove past one day and I called in and was made to feel very welcome and a member of staff offered to show me around and answered questions. What struck me immediately was the homely feel it had and there were no unpleasant smells commonly associated with
care homes. I then made an appointment to speak with the manager with a view to my father being placed here. After this, I managed to get Dad promptly placed where he was for two years and one month. The staff were very accommodating and I never felt worried about asking them for help. They all treated my father like he was a member of their own family. He quickly settled and loved joining in with all the activities which were numerous and varied. The staff were very good at communicating with me whenever they had any concerns about my father's health. My Dad passed away in February and from the outset, I felt that I had made the right choice of home for him.

I attended the 'Millbeck's Got Talent Show' and BBQ on Saturday July 22nd. The event was truly inspirational. The manager, her deputy, the activities co-ordinator, along with the staff and the chef had done an amazing job in engaging the residents in such a wonderful experience, followed by an excellent
meal. The residents sang, played percussion instruments and one read a poem. The staff also joined in the entertainment.


The effort and care taken to involve the residents was amazing, the whole room was filled with smiles and laughter. The experience has really motivated my mum and helped her feel part of a special group.


The friendliness, care and devotion of the staff makes Millbeck feel more like a family than a care home. I do not live in the Norton area but I would never dream of moving Mum closer as Millbeck cannot be matched for its level of care and dedication towards its residents.
