Feel my mum is really well looked after and cared for. Carers treat her like their own. There is always a friendly, welcoming atmosphere no matter how busy they are. She seems happy, healthy and contented in this environment.

After a very challenging time, I would like to thank the staff of Abbotsfield Care Home for their care and compassion for my aunt. Living several hours away, it is difficult to see her as much as I wish I could, but the staff have been excellent in keeping me updated with any changes. On my latest visit,
I found her clearly well cared for and content. The staff of Abbotsfield have done an amazing job managing long-term health issues in addition to more challenging new ones, and I feel they always consider my aunt's health and well-being in everything they do. Many thanks.

My mam moved into Abbotsfield in November and we are absolutely delighted with her care.
She is well looked after by incredibly caring members of staff who have a wonderful relationship with the residents.
It’s a joy to visit my mam at Abbotsfield and we are always welcomed. The staff are wonderful
and very caring and go above and beyond to make sure my mam lives as comfortable life as possible whilst she battles with dementia.
She is very happy here and that makes me happy too knowing that she is cared for and looked after.
The home itself is always clean and tidy and immaculate. The ladies work so hard to make sure the environment for its residents is in very good condition. The lady who does the laundry is wonderful and knows whose clothes belong to who.
I couldn’t ask for a better place for my mam to live. It’s such a comfort knowing she’s happy and well cared for.

Mum has been in Abbotsfield for nearly 2 years. It is friendly, warm and welcoming. The staff take the time to speak to residents and get to know about them and different aspects of their life. The care that has been given to Mum cannot be faulted, it gives myself and the family peace of mind that she
is safe and being well cared for.

My mum has been a resident here for a few years.
I can not fault the care given to her. The food is very good.
The staff are always nice and caring. My mum loves sitting out in the well-kept gardens with me when I visit. I am happy my mum is a resident here.

Excellent care home for my dad with dementia. Dad has settled well here in a caring environment and that means the world to us as a family. Dad seems to have found his feet here and he often tells us the food is lovely. they treat visitors with kindness and we feel confident with Dad's care generally.

My Dad has been at Abbotsfield for the past six months. He settled well thanks to the reassurance, care and attention given to him by the staff. They also helped us as a family to adjust by keeping us informed and answering any questions we had. Dad is happy and content in Abbotsfield. It has a family-run
feel, with much laughter and enthusiasm exchanged between residents and staff. I feel they know Dad well and have a real connection with him, understanding his needs and respecting his wishes. There are many activities to join in with which enhances life for all, especially as the staff get involved in everything! The Halloween decorations were impressive and I look forward to seeing the Christmas festivities.

My very dear friend of over 35 years who is like a mum and grandma to me moved into the care of Abbotsfield late last year. The care and professionalism of the majority of the staff is of a high standard. Some of the staff treat my loved one as if they were a grandparent which is lovely to see. I am
kept informed the majority of the time regarding care provided and when this changes. The staff have been extremely good at managing the whole Covid situation to date.

Current Review Score: 9.3 (9.252)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.3 (9.252) out of 10 for Abbotsfield is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 6 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.6 out of 5 from 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.652 for Abbotsfield is calculated as follows: ( (46 Excellents x 5) + (22 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 69 Ratings = 4.652

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.6 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Abbotsfield is based on 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 = 3.6

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 26 registered maximum number of service users is 5.2, which has been reached with 6 Positive reviews. Points = 1

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
