Chichester Hall is a Cumbrian care home that has up to twenty admission places for elderly care purposes, including for individuals with mental health issues or mild dementia.

The home has an excellent inspection record with regulatory bodies, thanks to a team of professional carers who strive to maintain a relaxing and homely environment, while adhering to modern care standards.

My mum has been in here for some time now and I feel happy she is looked after very well and she is content and happy. All the staff are friendly and caring. The building is clean, well kept, and homely, which to me is very important.

My parents were residents at Chichester Hall for just over 4 years. In all that time they were treated with care and respect at all times and when they came to the end of their lives all the staff could not have been more kind.
They were treated with dignity and kept comfortable at all times, seeing
to their every need. I cannot recommend the home more highly.

Thank you so much for your kind words, both Mum and Dad were a pleasure to care for, and we all miss them greatly, as a family you were all very supportive of them and the home and it is very much appreciated
Thank you all once again,

My parents, both in their 90's and with varying degrees of frailty and dementia, moved into Chichester Hall when my husband underwent heart surgery earlier this year. This was the only home in the area to offer a really large double 'bedsit' and they even bought a double bed for them. The staff have
all been truly great, I have no qualms about the quality of care and their support to me over these difficult months has been much appreciated.

Mum thoroughly enjoyed her week here, in fact, she didn't want to come home. It's taken a long time to persuade her to try anywhere, but after we had the first visit to show her around she loved it.
It's more like a hotel than a care home.
Lovely clean rooms, staff are more like friends and Mum enjoyed
the food.
As a family, we felt so happy seeing Mum safe, comfortable and at home in her surroundings.
Five stars.

Staff were very welcoming and friendly towards my husband and commented that he had a smile for everybody which was reassuring that he was happy being looked after and willing to help in any way.
The establishment was very clean and the food seemed to be varied and plentiful.
On departure, my husband's
possessions had been laundered and packed into his suitcase from my inventory.
All items present and correct.
Most impressive.

My aunt has been a resident at Chichester Hall now for a number of years.
We travel quite a distance to see her every couple of months and are always welcomed by staff and offered tea and cake. My aunt is safe and well cared for. Special thanks to the lady for keeping us up to date as my aunt doesn't
always want to communicate with visitors. The atmosphere at the home is friendly and homely.

I'm always impressed with the home when I visit. This also applies when I phone the home enquiring as to the wellbeing of my sister-in-law. The staff are always friendly and helpful. I rate them, first class.

The home is always lovely and warm. Meals are always lovely. Visitors are offered a drink on arrival. Care staff and kitchen and cleaning staff are always friendly and helpful.
It would be good if some of the more mobile residents were able to have a little trip out now and again, even just down to
Silloth to see Christmas lights. Appreciate availability of staff an issue, more activities would be beneficial too.

Whenever I visit mum, the staff are always friendly and welcoming. Mum tends not to like being in the lounge - very large with people sitting around the edges - usually sleeping with no care staff. In an ideal world, I would like to see more interaction with these residents. Mum enjoys chatting with
the staff and likes her room which has beautiful views.

My mam receives excellent care at Chichester Hall where she has been a resident for over a year now. The staff are always very welcoming, kind, caring and very friendly and you can visit any time. I feel my mam is very well looked after and very safe in Chichester Hall and the food is of top quality
and always has a varied menu. I am so pleased we chose this home for my mam to stay. Excellent.

My parents received excellent care at Chichester Hall. We were welcomed at any time of the day. Staff were caring, professional, continually keeping us updated on my parent's health. The support we received as a family was superb. The home also has excellent relations with the G.P practice and district
nurses. I would recommend Chichester Hall to anyone.

First class standard of care by all members of staff who clearly went the extra mile to ensure this comfort and care was always available for both residents and relatives, especially so during my mother's last days when their support was much appreciated.

The staff are great, very hard working.
Understaffing is obvious though, even if staff are very, very hardworking, often it's difficult to find anyone.
The home is very welcoming, everyone is really friendly and helpful and nothing is overlooked.
Residents are happy and looked after and treated as
part of the family.
It's nice that the home isn't made to seem clinical - it's more like a family home.

As I live a few hundred miles away, I have complete peace of mind that my mum is in the best place possible. Chichester Hall is a secure, yet homely place which is large, light and airy. The atmosphere is quiet, calm, peaceful and restful. All the dedicated staff go about their caring duties in a most
professional, calm, quiet and caring manner. They are all obviously dedicated to their vocation and treat residents as if they were their own family. Management is led efficiently, diligently and respectfully. All residents are clearly well cared for with respect for their individuality and are well known to all staff. Everyone is approachable and they prioritise the needs of the residents.
Communication from the care home to myself as a relative is excellent.
My mum appears to be happy, settled and has now been a resident at Chichester Hall for over a year. She tells me that she is well cared for and doesn't need to ask for anything.
The food is of top quality and there is always a choice for all residents.

Current Review Score: 9.4 (9.441)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.4 (9.441) out of 10 for Chichester Hall is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 6 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.6 out of 5 from 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.841 for Chichester Hall is calculated as follows: ( (58 Excellents x 5) + (11 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 69 Ratings = 4.841

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.6 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Chichester Hall is based on 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 = 3.6

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 20 registered maximum number of service users is 4, which has been reached with 6 Positive reviews. Points = 1

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
