The third unit is 'The Mews' it has been recently refurbished to give the home an extra 10 self-contained apartments all with a shower/wet room and all upgraded facilities.

The care centre has a friendly and very experienced care team.

Kirksanton Care Centre is a very calm and positive environment. The staff are friendly and caring and take time to relate to residents as individuals. As a family, we are kept informed of any health issues. The room is very clean and pleasant, and we were able to hang personal pictures. Overall we feel
that the residents are safe and well cared for.

Mum has been living at the Kirksanton Care Home for two years now and it was great to see her looking so well and so content when we recently visited her, all thanks to the staff at the home who are always professional, friendly and extremely helpful. This was especially the case during Covid, their
good communications and pragmatic approach was a great comfort during those difficult times. Mum has dementia and diabetes and to see the ongoing care and attentiveness by all the staff is wonderful. We don’t get to visit very frequently, so the photos of the activities and celebrations on their social media page are great and, apart from anything else, Mum always tells us with a big smile that the food is wonderful! We are very happy, as a family, that we chose Kirksanton to look after Mum.

Mum has been in Kirksanton Care home for 11 months now. I couldn’t be happier with her care. She is so happy there and she tells me that. The activities are stimulating and creative which is so important for the brain, and you can see the works of art displayed everywhere. Most importantly Kirksanton
is a community, the staff are wonderful and so committed to what they do. Every single one of them really cares about the patients and they engage and laugh and joke with them at every opportunity. The food looks fantastic and clearly is, as my mum has put on weight. I can’t rate this home and the staff highly enough. It’s the staff that make it such a great place, they care and they connect with the residents. I hope the management of the home sees this and recognises it because it’s what makes this such a nice place to be.

My dad moved up from Devon to the Kirksanton Care Centre a few months ago and I was obviously worried about the transition and how he would settle. Kirksanton is a lovely place in a beautiful setting which helps, but the key factor is always the staff team who have directly with him. Everyone has been
great, very friendly and helpful and that will be a key factor in him settling down and feeling as at home as he can. Their caring outlook and understanding and patience have made all the difference.

I fully understand restrictions placed in care homes this past 18 months due to COVID19 making visiting almost impossible. However, my frustration due to lack of visits is met with a deep sense of understanding by all staff. All, in my opinion, are doing a wonderful job in looking after my partner.
This is a very well maintained care home filled with staff who are a credit to their profession.

My mother is settled nicely in the home. She likes all aspects of the care, has no complaints with food or the care given by the staff. I am also happy with the standard of care given. All the staff are caring and friendly and keep me informed at all times with the wellbeing of my mother. I am glad
we chose Kirksanton Care Centre for Mother.

All the staff are friendly, helpful, polite and attentive to all the needs of all residents. They are regularly organising activities for all residents to get involved. From phone calls and on their website it is obvious that all residents and staff are enjoying the interaction. All meals are first
class. We are glad we chose Kirksanton Care Centre for our elderly relation. She is treated like a member of their own family caring for all her needs.

I have found the whole staff team to be very caring, not only to the residents but also their family and friends. The management has also been very supportive to me. I can honestly say that my Aunt looks the best she has in years since moving here and I no longer worry about her. So thank you to you
all.

In the past few weeks, I have been coming up to Kirkstanton Care Centre for meals and games. I liked the different activities they put on each week, like bingo, chair exercises etc and the staff are lovely, they can help you if you are struggling or need a hand. Each week is different and you always
have something to do. The staff are always helpful, nothing is too much trouble if you just want a chat or help with anything.

Current Review Score: 8.5 (8.521)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.5 (8.521) out of 10 for Kirksanton Care Centre is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.6 out of 5 from 4 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.9 out of 5 from 4 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.646 for Kirksanton Care Centre is calculated as follows: ( (31 Excellents x 5) + (17 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 48 Ratings = 4.646

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 3.875 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Kirksanton Care Centre is based on 4 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.375

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 40 registered maximum number of service users is 8. 4 Positive Reviews ÷ 8 = 0.5

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
