Winters Park Care Home, located in the historic market town of Penrith in the Lake District, provides personalised residential and residential dementia care to older people.

Winters Park Care Home is a clean, well maintained, friendly and caring establishment.
The staff are professional, attentive and efficient.
All matters pertaining to my father's care which I have raised have been dealt with promptly and appropriately.
I am impressed and pleased with the care he has
received.

My mother has been a resident for several years and the quality of her care has varied mainly in relation to the quality of staff and their management. Recent staff recruitment has been encouraging and the current acting manager inspires significantly more confidence. My mother's challenging behaviour
at times stretches the patience of all staff but with one or two exceptions, their response is impressive.
Food quality has been variable - apparently poor at times. When the cost of care is compared with an apparently similar provision in London and the South East, it appears to be very high. However, the cumulative effect of very good care by the vast majority of staff has seen a great improvement in my mother's mental health.

This was my second visit to Winters Park to see my 91-year-old aunt who has now been a resident for 10 months. I was happy to find that my first impressions were confirmed. The atmosphere was so pleasant and everywhere was so clean and orderly. A beautiful place. My aunt is so happy there and calls
the staff "the girls" and the "young men". Everything and everyone first class.

I have been visiting a service user in Winters Park for the past few months - usually twice a week, and have found everyone, without exception, to be kind, helpful, sympathetic and upbeat.
Staff and are happy to do whatever it takes to make my visit go smoothly, and communicate change of plans/ times
with no fuss.
Senior staff, nurses and domestic staff call me by my name, a nice touch!

Placing mother in a home at 99 years old was a difficult decision. Winters Park was the place. Care is excellent, the care people are superb. I can visit mother at any time. The home manager is a lovely lady.

The staff at Winters Park Care Home have kindly and professionally looked after and cared for our 99 year old mother since she went there for emergency respite care.
She is now happy and well, benefitting from the companionship of others, good food and the stimulation of activities on offer on a daily
basis, while still being able to have her quieter moments in quiet lounges and her room which looks onto gardens, which are enjoyed outside on warm days.

I came into Winters Park to see my father 2-3 times a week. I find the staff very helpful and cheery. The home is currently undergoing refurbishing and is looking very good to date. I think my dad's room could do with a refurbish too. Overall I'm very happy with the care dad receives.

My cousin is extremely happy and content at Winters Park. The staff treat her with the utmost love and respect at all times. The home is clean and welcoming to everyone. The manager is very helpful and approachable any time and available at all times including at weekends. We couldn't be more happy
with everything at Winters Park.

My mother passed away on March 10th 2018 at the age of 96 after almost 4 years in Winters Park. She was very shaky and uncertain when she arrived after a sequence of falls and infections. Gradually, she gained confidence and her health stabilised. She often said she felt safe and praised the food. The
staff were quick to spot medical problems and call out the GP. We think we were lucky to find such a good care home; outstanding care from very nice people.

My mother has been at Winters Park for 14 months and has received excellent care and support over a very difficult period. She has to attend hospital appointments every month and the staff accompany her and see to her every needs. All the staff are so kind and patient, I would have no hesitation in
recommending Winters Park as a caring home for relatives and friends.

My grandmother is a resident here and appears relatively happy, she enjoys the food and repeatedly tells us how good it is. Nana gets on well with other residents but isn’t a fan of the activities provided which include quizzes and games but knowing my nana this is probably more a personal preference.
The
home is a little dated but always clean. Nana's room is a reasonable size and includes an en-suite toilet which could do with updating.
Staff appear kind and caring, but I have found one particular senior member of staff a little unapproachable but Nana seems to get on OK with them. She does however on occasion complain about the noise of doors banging in the night but I suppose this cannot be helped as there must be some activity in the home at night.
There may be areas that require improvement but on the whole, my family are happy with the care my nana receives.

Winters Park is a good care home. Nice carers, good food and décor, nice grounds and near town. Pleasant fellow residents.
The outings are well arranged but the games are routine, new ones needed I think.

Whenever I visit my friend I am always made to feel welcome. When I am there on weekdays it is interesting to watch the activities taking place (and sometimes joining in) and to see the way that the residents respond to the activities co-ordinator, everybody is made to feel a part even those who do
not find it easy and they receive all the help they need which helps to draw them out. The staff work hard and always find time for the residents.
