With a team devoted to enriching the lives of their residents, Ashwood Park has a warm family feel the moment you walk through the door.

Providing residential, nursing, dementia and palliative care, the team also offers respite care breaks, which are ideal for family carers who would like to plan a short break themselves, knowing their loved one is in safe hands.

The team support the residents to play a very active role in how their home is run, and there’s a resident ambassador who provides feedback on everything from the menu to the activities on offer, as well as welcoming new staff and residents.

There are so many engaging activities, from baking and pamper sessions, with manicures and hand massages, to singalongs with the piano. The residents enjoy regular entertainers, who fill the home with music.

Mealtimes are a real highlight of the day, with the chef preparing delicious home-cooked meals and freshly baked cakes for afternoon tea.

Ashwood Park has a beautiful hair salon, for regular appointments with the mobile hairdresser, and there is a secure courtyard garden, home to ducks Pip, Hamish and Bonnie!   

There are so many spaces to relax with loved ones, who are welcome at any time, from the welcoming lounges and garden room to the café. And there is a private family and friends Facebook group.

The local community are embraced into life at Ashwood Park. Local school children regularly visit to enjoy activities and sing with the residents. And there are regular visits and outings with their fellow residents from Sanctuary Care’s neighbouring home.

Many of the residents love animals, so there are lots of visits from everything from dogs to animal therapy sessions with owls, guinea pigs and rabbits.

And there’s plenty to do outside the home, with trips to the Easington Beach, shopping centres, cafés, garden centres and the local school, the marina and pub lunches.

From my dad going into this unit, the care he has received is fantastic. The staff are amazing and he could not be in better hands. The food is lovely, and his clothes and pyjamas are laundered every day. I cannot fault anything about this care home. The staff really are fantastic.

My wife who was suffering from Lung Cancer spent two months in Ashwood Park Residential & Nursing Home in Easington Colliery, unfortunately, her cancer was terminal, and there was no chance of recovery. The staff at that home were fantastic nothing was too much trouble to them they not only looked after
her needs but my family's too. She could not have had better carers not only did they look after her physical needs but she made friends with all of them and they went above and beyond to make her last few weeks as comfortable as humanly possible and just for that alone my family and I will be eternally grateful. I hope the staff read this review I hope they know how much they are appreciated.

All the staff in ICP are hardworking, lovely and helpful, and kind to me. My husband has been receiving the best care from all of the staff involved with his care, nothing is a bother to them. The food is very good as he has built up his weight as he had lost a large amount in hospital. Great staff
upstairs and downstairs.

Had my covid test, staff were friendly. My husband and residents were watching the telly, the atmosphere was calm and they looked content. The only tears were from my husband when he saw me. The staff were sociable, the senior was helpful in a query I had about my husband's hospital appointment.

My stay at Ashwood was enjoyable in every way. Not having been in a care home before, the experience was new to me and I found it all very pleasant while I healed after my fall. The staff are lovely and always kind and ready to help in any way. The meals are good and varied. The rooms are clean and

Every member of staff I have dealt with from management, nursing, caring, cleaning and laundry, nothing has been too much trouble. Everyone does their job cheerfully in what can only be difficult times for care homes. In a nutshell, I have no complaints at all.
I have not given a mark next to activities
as due to covid outbreaks in the care home there have been no activities in January.

Ashwood made my dad feel very welcome considering how he was feeling leaving hospital. He had never been in a care environment and although his medical needs have changed he likes to try and keep his independence. Although for physical reasons he couldn't do this the staff were excellent to keep him
positive and always reassured him and provided him with dignity and conversation to keep him interested. He was very reluctant initially having to stay but after leaving 8 weeks later I think he will miss the company and staff and reassurance you offered. Communication was very good throughout. Thank you from all the family.

My father was resident on the ICP unit for several weeks. The care he received was outstanding and has undoubtedly helped his rehabilitation. The staff are lovely, helpful and hardworking people. We are very grateful for the care he received. I understand the catering was excellent too. If the owners
could give the rooms a little refresh it might be approaching perfection at Ashwood Park! Thank you to all of the super staff.

My mother-in-law was well looked after. The staff were always cheerful and bend over backwards to be helpful. When we needed to phone, we always got through straight away and were never rushed or fobbed off. We were kept informed at all times. All the staff are very hardworking and need a medal.

Since my friend came into Ashwood Park nursing unit she has been treated with care dignity and respect, both on a professional and personal level. The staff took the time to get to know her and have tended to her every need and though sometimes situations due to her illness have been somewhat distressing
and frustrating the staff have worked through it and given me reassurance. All of the staff here have also made me feel welcome whenever I visit. They have my utmost respect.
