Welcome to Field View.

Located in Blackhall Colliery, a former mining village on the North Sea coast of County Durham close to Peterlee and Horden, Field View is located on Hesleden Road between Castle Eden and Hartlepool. Nestled behind Yohden Care Complex and surrounded by fields and grassed areas the home is a tranquil environment for residents who are looking for general or EMI dementia residential care.

There is ample car parking at the home for visitors and the closest bus stop from the home is located at the Hardwick Hotel on Middle Street which is a 0.5 mile stroll to the home which is visited by the 23, 24 Sapphire, 55 and 206 IndiGo bus.

The home is a single storey, purpose-built building, which has a secure, central courtyard containing outdoor seating and raised flower beds for green fingered residents who enjoy gardening and an accessible green house at the front of the home ideal for growing the home's own fruit and vegetables.

Inside the home, you will find a coffee shop where hot drinks are available complimentary, a modern lounge with Radio, TV and DVD player, comfortable dining room serving breakfast, lunch and dinner, pub room, activities room and hair salon where residents can come and enjoy being pampered weekly. All bedrooms are en-suite with furniture provided with communal shower rooms and spa bath amenities.

They have a dedicated activities coordinator on site and residents enjoy activities in and out of the home as well as 1 to 1 time.

They have a 5-star award in Food Hygiene (July 2023) and were proud to be a winner of the MMCG Christmas Cake competition in 2019. They believe food is a huge aspect their care at Field View and residents enjoy a cooked breakfast, choice of lunch and dinner meals, supper and hospitality trolley with drinks and cakes throughout the day.

Field View gives me more peace of mind than I ever thought possible after making the hard decision to move my mother into full-time care. The staff treat residents like family members and go out of their way to ensure the comfort and safety of all residents. My mother has been here for several years
now and I hope she continues to thrive.

My aunt did not want to come to a care home. However, she was unable to live alone any longer. She has now settled into Field View and joins in activities. She is well cared for and looks much happier than when she was living alone.

The staff are extremely friendly and work hard, but the home is understaffed, which is a shame. The home is clean and well run. The office staff are very approachable and knowledgeable.

I was at Field View care home for four weeks, on arrival I was shown to my room and there was a card and two gifts. The card said 'welcome to your new home, we want you to feel at home' and I did. Nice room. All the staff were professional and also very friendly, caring and cheerful. Everyone of the
staff looked after the residents as if it was their own mother, father etc. I would send any of my family and would trust the staff to look after them. I cannot praise all the staff highly enough. If any care homeowners want to run a rest home, go no further than Field View as an example. I would like to say a big thank you to you all.

My mam has been living at Field View for just over a month and we couldn't be happier with the care she is receiving. As a social worker myself, I was very careful in selecting Field View and both me and my sister are 100% happy with the decision we made, as is my mam! The communication is excellent
and in the period before admission, the Home Administrator was incredibly kind and helpful as we tried to navigate the added stresses of finding a safe and suitable home for my mam during COVID times.
My mam is completely happy with her lovely, light and comfortable room where she brought her own favourite chair from home - she has her own ensuite and can choose whether to join the rest of the residents for meals or eat in her room. We have been so surprised at how well she has settled in and she loves the staff and has become noticeably happier, telling me 'they are always there' and 'they're all lovely'. I can't recommend the staff and the care at Field View enough.

My mother has been a resident at Fieldview for some time and has always received a very good standard of care. During these more recent challenging months the level of care given to her has not diminished at all. Staff have continued to be attentive to her condition and needs and have continued to keep

All the staff at Field View are brilliant. They keep us informed at all times regarding Mam who we know is very settled there and loves all the staff. Nothing is ever a problem no matter how big or small. Even through this trying time at present they have all done an excellent job and we can't thank

This was mum's 1st visit to Fieldview, but it will certainly not be her last. What an impression Fieldview has made mum, who most definitely does not like change or alteration to her routine has loved her time there and cannot praise everyone enough. She is so looking forward to seeing everyone again
on her next visit.
As mum's main carer, my anxiety level at leaving her in unfamiliar surroundings was off the scale, but I can honestly say that Fieldview has turned out to be a home from home. The warmth, care and attention provided to mum during her stay were akin to that of extended family, for which her daughter is very grateful.
Excellent service Fieldview.

My mother has been at Field View since the start of the first covid lockdown, having been moved from a hospital bed. Choices of care home were offered, but time was short, and the team tasked with moving patients into the community was good. They educated me about making choices, and I was pointed towards
a shortlist of the “better homes”, Field View being one of those.
Contrary to the national media’s hysteria about poor procedures in care homes, Field View placed my mother into a two week quarantine period. Since that initial period, protective procedures are clearly in place during every visit that I’ve made.
My visits are welcomed by staff - not for my benefit, but the happiness of my mother. The dedicated staff focus their efforts on the residents. I’m always met at the door with warmth, if I can’t visit there’s Skype and there’s regular contact from staff to me, by phone and email, about mother and any needs.
My summary in five words: care, dedication, love, focus and communication.

Our mam has been in Field View care home since November 2018. She has been well cared for throughout this time. As mam's Alzheimers has progressed, the home has done everything they can to meet mam's needs. The staff are like family to mam and also us. Always someone to talk to if needs be.

Very clean, welcoming and warm. Staff very friendly and really helpful. They were also really nice and comforting towards the patients (and understanding) which was nice to see.
A couple of the patients who seemed a bit confused were reassured by staff members who walked along with them. Nice environment.
