Welcome to Field View.

Located in Blackhall Colliery, a former mining village on the North Sea coast of County Durham close to Peterlee and Horden, Field View is located on Hesleden Road between Castle Eden and Hartlepool. Nestled behind Yohden Care Complex and surrounded by fields and grassed areas the home is a tranquil environment for residents who are looking for general or EMI dementia residential care.

There is ample car parking at the home for visitors and the closest bus stop from the home is located at the Hardwick Hotel on Middle Street which is a 0.5 mile stroll to the home which is visited by the 23, 24 Sapphire, 55 and 206 IndiGo bus.

The home is a single storey, purpose-built building, which has a secure, central courtyard containing outdoor seating and raised flower beds for green fingered residents who enjoy gardening and an accessible green house at the front of the home ideal for growing the home's own fruit and vegetables.

Inside the home, you will find a coffee shop where hot drinks are available complimentary, a modern lounge with Radio, TV and DVD player, comfortable dining room serving breakfast, lunch and dinner, pub room, activities room and hair salon where residents can come and enjoy being pampered weekly. All bedrooms are en-suite with furniture provided with communal shower rooms and spa bath amenities.

They have a dedicated activities coordinator on site and residents enjoy activities in and out of the home as well as 1 to 1 time.

They have a 5-star award in Food Hygiene (July 2023) and were proud to be a winner of the MMCG Christmas Cake competition in 2019. They believe food is a huge aspect their care at Field View and residents enjoy a cooked breakfast, choice of lunch and dinner meals, supper and hospitality trolley with drinks and cakes throughout the day.

We've been visiting our old friend for a couple of years. I found this 'home' very clean. Happy atmosphere. The staff are very helpful. A caring environment for visitors and residents. This would be the care home I would want to be in if I had to come into a 'home'.

I come to this home for daycare every week. I always look forward to coming here. I am treated with dignity and respect at all times, I always feel very welcome when I come here. I am included in everything that the home has to offer. I enjoy activities and I am always invited to special events. If
I ever needed to live in a care home permanently this is the home I would choose. It is home from home and one big happy family.

I have visited this home on a weekly basis and should I need a care home, this would be my first choice. The staff are friendly they motivate the residents and the atmosphere is very homely. It is a secure and safe environment.

Very pleased with care setting and the staff within are the same. My mam is very settled in this setting and is kept busy with various activities that are going on.

My gran has been in Field View for nearly a year and we have been impressed by the kindness and warmth the staff have shown.


They have a good range of activities in place and lots of social events taking place. More recently my gran has been unwell and the staff have been amazing showing great care

I can't speak highly enough if this care home. My father is really happy here. He is physically disabled but of sound mind. He is quite a demanding mand and the staff are very patient with him. He is a keen gardener and the manager has had him raised flower and vegetable beds. He really enjoys growing
his own veg then giving it to the cook to use.


The home is beautiful and clean and my father is very happy with the food and care.

My family and I have visited several care homes. Field View impressed us the most, from the manager to the staff. Mam has been staying at Field View for several weeks and is settling well.
She gets involved in the activities. I feel happy knowing she is safe and well looked after.

Michelle came to Field View as Deputy Manager from our sister home at Yohden Care Complex where Michelle worked in 2018 as Senior Care Assistant and worked her way up to a Care Practitioner and took over running the lodge as unit manager.
