Welcome to Field View.

Located in Blackhall Colliery, a former mining village on the North Sea coast of County Durham close to Peterlee and Horden, Field View is located on Hesleden Road between Castle Eden and Hartlepool. Nestled behind Yohden Care Complex and surrounded by fields and grassed areas the home is a tranquil environment for residents who are looking for general or EMI dementia residential care.

There is ample car parking at the home for visitors and the closest bus stop from the home is located at the Hardwick Hotel on Middle Street which is a 0.5 mile stroll to the home which is visited by the 23, 24 Sapphire, 55 and 206 IndiGo bus.

The home is a single storey, purpose-built building, which has a secure, central courtyard containing outdoor seating and raised flower beds for green fingered residents who enjoy gardening and an accessible green house at the front of the home ideal for growing the home's own fruit and vegetables.

Inside the home, you will find a coffee shop where hot drinks are available complimentary, a modern lounge with Radio, TV and DVD player, comfortable dining room serving breakfast, lunch and dinner, pub room, activities room and hair salon where residents can come and enjoy being pampered weekly. All bedrooms are en-suite with furniture provided with communal shower rooms and spa bath amenities.

They have a dedicated activities coordinator on site and residents enjoy activities in and out of the home as well as 1 to 1 time.

They have a 5-star award in Food Hygiene (July 2023) and were proud to be a winner of the MMCG Christmas Cake competition in 2019. They believe food is a huge aspect their care at Field View and residents enjoy a cooked breakfast, choice of lunch and dinner meals, supper and hospitality trolley with drinks and cakes throughout the day.

Excellent care at all times. Mum always looked after well. GP's and district nurses contacted as needed. Good food choices and plenty of choices of entertainment. Home always clean and tidy.

Cannot praise this home enough. There is always a smiling face when ever you visit and you know your loved one is getting the best of care. They will do anything they can to help you and you feel totally at home. My nanny could not be happier. Here I would recommend it to anyone so lucky to have found
somewhere so nice.

This was an initial review for and on behalf of my husband. I was extremely satisfied that a care plan was put in place to which I agreed and had input. Manager was and is very caring, always approachable.

I recently went on holiday for a month, even though I am very happy with the quality of care, and dad is happy and settled, I was still anxious about leaving him for so long. Before going on holiday all staff were very reassuring to me. While away I kept in touch with the administrator by email. She
printed off my emails in large font, for dad. She took them to him, read them out to him and even put the emails and postcards into a folder so dad wouldn't lose them. She kept in touch with me while I was away and gave me updates about dad. All staff of Field View care about the small things, personal things and my view is if you look after the little things the big things will take care of themselves.

There is a lovely happy atmosphere every time I visit. The staff are always cheerful and ready to help whatever might be needed. I would certainly recommend this home to as many people I could. Most of all the important thing is that my Aunty has settled and I very happy here.

I have visited a fair number of care homes locally and Field View Blackhall is by far the best you can get. It ticks all the right boxes for me and my mam. I would be interested to know if there is any home 'built' to surpass Field View.

Michelle came to Field View as Deputy Manager from our sister home at Yohden Care Complex where Michelle worked in 2018 as Senior Care Assistant and worked her way up to a Care Practitioner and took over running the lodge as unit manager.
