Crofton Court Care Home is situated in Blyth, Northumberland. It is in the town centre, next to the community hospital. There is easy access to shops and cafés, the library and community centres. There are also very good public transport links. Blyth port is five minutes walk away.

It has a lovely, welcoming feel to it and is very peaceful, light and airy. Visitors often say that it’s not like a care home: it’s a home.

Person-centred care is at the heart of their working ethos. Staff interact with residents in a polite but friendly manner, they get to know the things they like and don’t like, as well as their little quirks. The staff are always cheery and good humoured, and that rubs off on the residents. It’s fair to say that they really are one big happy family.

They work hard to ensure the residents are given opportunities to be as physically and mentally active as they wish to be. They have excellent links with a local Tai Chi group who come in once a fortnight to give lessons. They also have fortnightly visits from a Just Jhoon group, who do Bollywood-style exercises sessions, which can be done standing or sitting. They are very popular.

They have a big focus on music, with regular visits from entertainers who play the type of music that their residents like, so they can get them singing and dancing. This is particularly good for those with dementia. They have excellent links with Mind Active and organise activities there, and their residents go to their social events in the town. Local primary school choirs often go to them, and residents sometimes visit their schools. A local artist does art classes with residents. The latest project is focusing on Old Blyth – again good for dementia residents. A local church holds regular services here, and a group comes in to read bible stories, usually followed up by a related film.

Overall, my recent visit after the recent lockdown restrictions lifted went really well. Well organised, not a problem with lateral flow test. The visiting room was spacious and very clean. The staff, as always, very pleasant and helpful. The new management team very helpful and pleasant and kept me
well informed during phone calls etc.

I would have liked to have something to eat earlier in the morning as 10 am for breakfast is too late. Unfortunately, I was isolated so had no connection with the other guests. I found the staff very attentive, willing to do anything they were able. This would have been a very happy place to be had

I am independent, I wash in the morning, change, make the bed. I only need a carer to change it once a week, help to get a bath once a week. Hair is a mess, hasn't been cut or blow dried since March 2020. I understand hard times with the Covid virus. I isolated 3 times. Took it all in my stride.

Home Manager is lovely really approachable and warm they have gone above and beyond to support my grandmother.
The home is lovely a few areas look tired and in need of updating but the standard of care is fantastic. Care staff are all lovely.
The home has a lovely warm feel to it and is homely yes
it doesn't look like a hotel for the elderly and it shouldn't as this is someone's home not a local bed and breakfast or holiday in.
Can't recommend enough.

Care manager very professional at Mum's assessment. The initial day of admission to home staff very friendly and welcoming, aware that staff are busy with residents and general duties. A short orientation of the home, mum's room etc. May need to consider doing an inventory of resident's property, cash,
clothing etc, as items may be misplaced. Staff need to check pre-post stay (done by myself). In general, my Mum enjoyed her stay and I was happy about her care.

Due to a total loss of mobility, our mother became a resident of Crofton Court in July 2008. She sadly passed away on the 13th of September 2018. During her time in the residential home, we have to comment that the care, compassion and kindness of all the staff was outstanding. The accommodation was
very comfortable and very well kept, as were all areas of the building, the meals were to a high standard and varied, and the personal attention she was given was excellent. Whilst able to, she enjoyed the organised activities and seasonal fayre days held during the year. We wish to express our sincere appreciation to every member of staff, both past and present, for their efforts and we would highly recommend Crofton Court to anyone seeking residential care.

Our dad was a resident in Crofton Court for 18 months. From our very first visit until dad sadly passed away on 1st September 2016, we as a family, could not fault the care and compassion that was shown not just to our dad but to our whole family by every single member of the staff team.
