Mum moved into St David’s in March 2020 just before lockdown. It has been very difficult for the family as we have only been able to visit when lockdown restrictions lifted. However, we know she is in very good hands, as she tells us that she is well looked after by the staff who are kind and caring,
and she always sounds cheerful when we speak to her on the phone. She has settled really well and loves her room, and she also says she has plenty of people around her. The management and staff never complain at the number of times I have contacted them about one thing or another, due to not being able to go into the home and visit just yet. However, visiting arrangements are underway again now. It is very difficult to rate St David's fairly as I have only visited the garden room for visits with my mum. The standards/facilities/care and support/cleanliness/safety aspect are all excellent within that particular room, and I assume the rest of the place would be the same.

Management and caring staff go out of their way to help my father. When I visit or talk on the phone, he is always cheerful, thank you.
We were concerned when putting him in a care home as you hear all different stories, but we know now that this is a good one.

My grandma has been a resident at St David's for over a year now after having a couple of falls at home. St David's has a very family feel to it, and staff go above and beyond to provide a level of personalised service you won't find in other homes. The standard of service has been fantastic as well
as other aspects such as the food, cleanliness and activities offered to residents. She has settled in really well and has made some great friends amongst the residents and also the staff. I can't thank the team enough for making her feel so welcome and at home at St David's and I'd recommend the home to anyone.

Mum moved into this home just days before COVID19 lockdown. Despite a big life change in environment and levels of mild confusion, the support provided by the Care Team and management has been of a high standard, in terms of care support, medical review, and social acclimatisation. Mum was anxious about
the move into specialised residential care, and the staff have been able to make the experience warm and inviting, which in turn has been made less stressful for relatives and friends.

My brother and I had to make that decision to place our father in a residential home following the death of our mother and after dad had had several falls whilst at his bungalow. Not a decision we took lightly. Having viewed 15 different homes we decided on at St David’s in Rhyl.
A decision we didn’t
regret. Our father passed in February of 2020 having spent 12 months at St David’s. He wasn’t the easiest of residents but the team did all they could to make him happy comfortable and cared for.
Nothing was too much trouble and the management teams' last communication was excellent.
The care team work extremely hard caring for each resident.
Whilst it’s never easy to make a decision like this, we have no regrets and would use the service again if we had the need.

The management and staff display a full commitment to my mother’s care. Her care is always dignified, and my mother loves the food and the kindness she is shown.
In recent times, due to the coronavirus risks, the staff have ensured that I have been fully informed, and are always available to talk
to and to relay messages to my mother. Lately, my mother has been less well, and the staff have shown enormous care and compassion to me and my family.

Excellent service.
Understand people’s individuality and provide excellent care based on that individual. Listen, really care about the service they are providing and have the resident at heart at all times. Always helpful, always understanding and works hard to provide an excellent service. Everywhere
is always spotlessly clean and tidy. Fabulous care home.

My mother is 95-years young and has Alzheimer's. She came for daycare a couple of days a week for about a year and has been a resident for almost two years now; Mum settled very well. Her general health and wellbeing have improved. Staff are lovely and very caring. Mum loves the company, the activities,
days out and the visiting hairdresser. I am very pleased with her care.

My mother has been a resident for just over two years since becoming unable to live independently at her former home. She is now 93 years old and confined to a wheelchair. She has no other medical conditions and does not suffer from dementia. What she needs is day to day residential care in a safe and
stimulating environment. She receives all of this at St David's and the whole package is of a very high standard. That assessment applies to the accommodation, the facilities, the food, the social activities and, most importantly, the staff. She has settled in far better than we could have hoped for and this, I believe, is primarily due to the commitment and quality of the staff.
I would definitely, and without hesitation, recommend St David's to anybody looking to place a family member into a caring environment.
All of the above has become even more apparent over the past few months as we entered the COVID-19 situation.

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.756)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.756) out of 10 for St David's Residential Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 9 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.8 out of 5 from 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.991 for St David's Residential Home is calculated as follows: ( (106 Excellents x 5) + (1 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 107 Ratings = 4.991

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.765 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for St David's Residential Home is based on 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.9

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 52 registered maximum number of service users is 10.4. 9 Positive Reviews ÷ 10.4 = 0.865

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
