The staff have looked after my dad until he died in August 2017. When it came to my mum having dementia and we could no longer look after her at home, I knew the only place I would put mum was Valley Lodge. They have looked after her for the last 16 months until she passed away in April 2019. I cannot
recommend this care home enough, the first thing that hits you is the smell - there isn’t one! I have been in quite a few and this is the only place that doesn’t have the ‘care home smell’.
The staff are kind, attentive, caring, they treat all the residents with respect and dignity. Thanks to everyone you are doing a great job.

First impressions were good, but my dad deteriorated very quickly. Although he was talking in riddles, he managed to ask to get him out of there and lost so much weight. There didn't seem enough staff to manage residents, he was always wet through and needed changing, was scared and very subdued, not
the strong fireman we once knew. He got urine infections and generally wasn't happy. We were told he was a danger to himself and other residents! My dad was the most gentle man. We saw one activity in the time he was there, the meal at lunch was small, just a sandwich for dinner with a small dessert, not enough for a grown man, we started taking food in for him to fill him up. He was also sent to hospital with no carer. The hospital did call the home to ask why an old man with dementia was sent there. He was then kept at the hospital elderly care facility for months after this, that was when I went and emptied his room at Valley Lodge and moved him to another home. Overall not good.

The care home provided excellent care, love and attention to my Aunty during her 12 month stay. They attended to her every need, showing patience and compassion alongside a much needed sense of humour. At no time did I have any concerns surrounding her care.

I can't praise the staff at Valley Lodge highly enough. My mother had been a resident in the home until very recently and I found all the staff to be extremely caring and compassionate. All the staff actively promote a family atmosphere which makes visiting the home such a lovely experience. All
the rooms are nicely decorated and spotlessly clean. Mum was able to stay at Valley Lodge during her last days of life and I will always be grateful to the staff for the way she was treated with compassion and dignity during that time.

This is a wonderful home with a fantastic team, and we are all committed to creating a happy, friendly atmosphere for all residents, giving them a new home with the support they need at this stage of their lives. We have a full activities programme so that residents can pursue their interests and enjoy an active lifestyle.
