I couldn’t ask for a better home for my friend, she has been at Sycamore Lodge for over a year now and loves it so much that she has decided to stay.
The girls who work there are lovely and friendly and easy to talk to, she gets options off a menu for each meal each day and on a Wednesday family and
friends are invited for a coffee and cake afternoon.
Thank you for making her feel at home.

Our relative is bedridden and does not talk much. She is looked after very well by the staff who spend time talking to her, which she really appreciates. They give foods that she likes and keep her content. They play her favourite music as well.
We really appreciate the attention of the staff, which
is the most important thing for her.

This home has been amazing with my nan; I couldn't ask for a more comfortable, compassionate home for my nan to be in. The staff are amazing with her, and she is very settled there. The atmosphere and meals are outstanding, and the staff always go above and beyond to make my nan settled and happy. I
would recommend this home to anyone. Thank you again for all you do.

My mother-in-law was cared for by Sycamore Lodge for two years. She suffered from dementia, and she was looked after with great compassion. The staff went over and above what was required of them in meeting her complex needs. I often found them just sitting and having a chat with her, which she really
enjoyed, and I was so touched by the way they looked after her. Meals were lovely and well-cooked, and she always enjoyed them. The surroundings were comfortable and well-maintained, and there was always such a lovely atmosphere with plenty of varied and enjoyable activities for them to do.
I would not hesitate to recommend this care home to anyone. As visitors, we were always well looked after as well. They made what was a very difficult time for our family, as comfortable as possible.

My mother has been a resident of Sycamore Lodge for a while now. She's very happy there and loves the staff who care for her. It has the feel of home-from-home, which I know my mother enjoys. Staff always seem helpful on visits, and the food always looks good.

Excellent care home. They are looking after my 90-year-old mother and always treat her as if she was one of their family. Really nice and friendly staff who know what they are doing. Worth more than five stars!

Mum has been in Sycamore Lodge for almost a year now. I find the staff helpful and caring. Mum is happy there. It has undergone a compleat overhaul in the last few months and is now a lighter, brighter place altogether.

I have the highest admiration for the dedication and care given to my mother for nearly five years.
She is totally dependent on the staff.
I am totally at ease with my mum being there and trust the staff.
I'm always informed about her well-being.
It's called a care home, and I can say that they
do care.

The recent improvements to the home have definitely improved the feel of the home; it's much more cheerful and welcoming. Staff are always cheerful and happy to help despite the challenges in caring for people with dementia, and meals always look lovely too.

Such a friendly atmosphere, always welcoming and always made to feel like one big family. They treat my friend extremely well, like a family member of their own. Always clean and doesn't smell like your typical care home.

Current Review Score: 8.2 (8.158)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.2 (8.158) out of 10 for Sycamore Lodge Residential Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.0 out of 5 from 3 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.2 out of 5 from 3 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 3.970 for Sycamore Lodge Residential Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (10 Excellents x 5) + (16 Goods x 4) + (5 Satisfactorys x 3) + (2 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 33 Ratings = 3.97

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.188 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Sycamore Lodge Residential Care Home is based on 3 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.25

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 16 registered maximum number of service users is 3.2. 3 Positive Reviews ÷ 3.2 = 0.938

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
