The home always looks clean and tidy. The staff always appear to be helpful and friendly. They appear to be understanding with the patients.

My mother has been residing at Woodland Lodge Residential Home, Gumfreston, for over three years. I have found it to be a very homely and welcoming place. She is well looked after by all the staff and kept clean at all times. I cannot speak highly enough of everyone in the home, how excellently my mother
is cared for. If there are any concerns arising with her, I am contacted immediately. This for me is very reassuring as I can relax and carry on with my normal working day without any worries. For this I am really grateful to all at Woodland Lodge. The only criticism I can make is that the building and contents look tired. However, I understand that there are plans ahead to carry out improvements.

Spent time visiting care homes in the local area and the moment my husband and I walked into Woodland Lodge, we both and smiled and agreed this is the one. At no time have we had to change our opinion, we are simply so pleased with our choice. The staff, facilities and care is outstanding and can only
be equalled, not surpassed, in our opinion. We would and have no problem in promoting Woodland to anyone and do so now to close family and friends. A big thank you from us.

Staff and management are very kind and helpful. I know can phone at any time and they will do there utmost to help. The food is varied and includes many healthy options. The only problem, as with many care homes, is there is not enough staff and the carers there are often, rushed off their feet.

Thank you for the review, your comments will be acknowledged in the forthcoming quality assurance review 2020-2021. It is very positive to see a relative speak highly of the staff at Woodland Lodge. It has been a challenging time for all since being placed into lockdown, and this unprecedented event has prevented the home from accepting visitors, and entertainment, which has been challenging to the residents, family, and staff. Whilst it is acknowledged that staff are very busy, this is because they are meeting the needs of residents consistently, with particular attention to infection control and keeping people safe, as well as addressing the wellbeing of individual residents. Woodland Lodge acknowledges the commitment and dedication of the whole staff team in maintaining, as noted in the review, ‘a very kind and helpful response to relatives’.

I cannot recomment this care home highly enough. They cared for my late Mother for approximately 8 months until her death from terminal cancer. Their kindmess and consideration to residents is second to none. This extends from the manager and her deputy to the front line staff . My Mother's independence
and individuality was respected and nurtured at all times. Everything that could possibly be done to make her comfortable and feel that this was her home was done. In her final weeks which were difficult for everyone, she was treated with utmost kindness and thought. Equally as family, we were always treated warmly and with greta respect. I cannot speak highly enough about the quality of care provided by Woodland Lodge.

Current Review Score: 8.2 (8.151)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.2 (8.151) out of 10 for Woodland Lodge Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.5 out of 5 from 2 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.7 out of 5 from 2 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.500 for Woodland Lodge Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (12 Excellents x 5) + (12 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 24 Ratings = 4.5

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 3.651 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Woodland Lodge Care Home is based on 2 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 = 3.125

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 19 registered maximum number of service users is 3.8. 2 Positive Reviews ÷ 3.8 = 0.526

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
