Danesbrook House is a home away from home, offering a homely, clean and warm modern interior that is staffed by a team of friendly care professionals, which are all registered with Social Care Wales.

Danesbrook House carers fully understand residents personal requirements, and deliver person centred care, to help the residents enjoy personal freedoms, comfort and relaxation, while taking pride in high standards designed to achieve long-term health benefits.

The home and staff takes the security, health and nutrition of its residents very seriously, stands up for dignity, respect and privacy and is up-to-date with the challenges of looking after adults diagnosed with dementia.

In 2019, the home extended the dining room and main lounge areas, making them bright and airy, with two sets of double doors opening into the garden. This extension work also added two extra bedrooms, one of which has French doors leading to a small court yard and the other opening out directly into the garden. Seven other ground floor rooms are also overlooking the garden.

For the summer of 2022 the garden was transformed into a multi-purpose area that has a lawn surrounded by a tropical mixture of plants in raised beds, with built in sun seating and a lovely shaded area under the pergola. The garden also boasts a contemporary water feature and is framed with a levelled resin floor which makes it easily accessible by the residents and their families when visiting.

The home is light and very airy. This is important as my mother is registered sensory sight-impaired. All residents are able to sit at the table together for meals. There are three lounges as well as a separate dining room so plenty of space to be together or alone.
My mother is a day resident and
is always greeted by the words ' let's have a cup of tea and you can tell me about it'. Staff are very attentive and always have time. Plenty of activities too. It is the place, and I have visited many, that eventually I would be happy for my mother to stay.

The staff and management are very helpful and carry out their duties in a caring and professional manner in what is sometimes difficult circumstances. The home is always very clean and tidy and there are various activities and entertainment provided.

My mother was extremely anxious and unwell when she went to live in Danesbrook House. The staff there have played a huge part in transforming her to a well, content, smiling, calm and generally, considering her illness, very happy person. They have taken the time to get to know her well and tailor her
care to her wishes and temperament. Her family could not ask for better care.

Mum moved into Danesbrook House late 2016. From day one, she settled right in. Even with her dementia, she loved every minute with the other residents.
The staff became her family and she loved hearing all about their families, holidays and things they got up to on their days off.
The staff not only
looked after Mum, they also gave love and support to the family and we will never be able to thank them enough. I would recommend well. Yes, we have all put our names down for the future.

Danesbrook House is very efficiently run. The carers are kind and competent and treat the residents with respect and appropriately for their needs. There is a homely feel to the premises and the residents can bring their own furniture and personal possessions with them which helps to orient them when
they first arrive. There is a close contact with the Hospital Mental Health Unit which facilitated a swift change of medication when this was required. As the daughter of a resident I was able to visit day or night at my own convenience and was always made to feel welcome and when my mother suddenly deteriorated and needed end of life care she was allowed to remain in her room with district nurse care and family present. This made what was of course a distressing time bearable and even uplifting given the fact that my siblings and I were able to spend the last few days of my mothers life at her side and helping to care for her. The staff couldn't have been kinder.

I am very happy to warmly recommend Danesbrook House where my nonagenarian aunt spent the last four years of her life in a warm, comfortable, friendly and secure environment.


Danesbrook House is always spotlessly clean and my aunt, who had lost the physical ability to perform her own ablutions and

to dress herself, was always very clean and presentable.


The meals at Danesbrook are nutritious, generous in portions and always extremely well prepared and presented. Refreshments and beverages are available throughout the day. Nobody at Danesbrook - including visitors - will be hungry or thirsty.


In performing their, at times very demanding, duties the staff succeed in combining a high level of professionalism with a friendly informality. My aunt was always treated with dignity, respect and patience.


There is a wide range of activities available throughout the day. My aunt particularly enjoyed painting and the staff went well beyond the call of duty in assisting her in this activity.

My aunt lived at Danesbrook House for the last 7 years of her life. Whenever I visited I always found the staff to be helpful, happy and enjoying their job. My aunt often said to me that she was so happy in choosing Danesbrook House. In my opinion, one of the reasons is that there are only 23 residents
and therefore they are all 'part of the family'. The staff at Danesbrook House do not leave within a year or so. Many have been there for over 10 years - some for a lot longer and that I think is a great advert for the way the home is run by the management. If you are considering a residential home within the Cardiff area then do please take the time to visit Danesbrook House and see for yourself the attentive and caring way the residents are made to feel.

I have no hesitation in recommending Danesbrook. My mother was a resident for seven years and was very happy there, and was made to feel special and always felt safe and secure. Management and staff are very caring and couldn't do enough for my mother. She was always treated with respect and dignity.
The home is spotlessly clean with residents rooms cleaned daily; the meals are good and nutritious and my mother always looked forward to mealtimes. She thoroughly enjoyed the activities (quizzes, bingo etc) and loved the music/singing sessions. We, as a family appreciate all that Danesbrook did for our mother.

I provide an assortment of entertainment for our residents including daily exercise sessions, sing-a-longs, crafts, quizzes and much much more.


We also have outdoor entertainers come into the home ranging from singers to games afternoons.


I really feel part of this team and thoroughly enjoy working with my peers.
