Job Title: Home Manager
Joined: 2002
I have worked at Gwynfa for twenty years. I started as a support worker and worked my way up. I enjoy my role, although I have found it very challenging, particularly over the last two years with the pandemic. I enjoy the way that every day is a new day and different from the last. I enjoy being with our residents and helping them live as independently as possible and improving their quality of life. I feel supported in my role from the RI and from other Managers. Hafod is a good company to work for as it embraces the aspirations of its colleagues / team members.
Job Title: Care Assistant and Relief Senior
Joined: 2018
My name is Abbie and I have worked at Hafod for almost 4 years. I started off as a domestic cleaner and then moved onto care. I am now working as a part time senior alongside being a carer. I heard about this job through a friend and that’s how I got the job.
I work in Gwynfa which is a mental health residential home and I absolutely love working here. Being a part of the Hafod team is the best choice I’ve made as there are many perks and lots of support offered, also many opportunities to move forward in my career.
Everyone I work with at Gwynfa are lovely and I’ve made some amazing work friends. My manager Helen always goes above and beyond to help and support team members / colleagues as much as she can. Overall, this is the best job that I have had and I plan on staying here for as long as they will have me!
Job Title: Senior Care Assistant
Joined: 1993
I used to work on scaffolding and l always felt achy after a full day, so asked a friend who worked in Hafod. I applied and got an interview date; the rest is history. I have worked for Hafod now for approximately 29 years and have never looked back. I began as a support worker and then to my present job as a senior in a residential home.
I have many colleagues and all of them are such a godsend, My Manager is Helen, and she is a rock, also a very nice person to work under. My deputy manager is a great person, if I need anything, such as training or support I need only ask.
I work supporting and offer care to many different residents and there is not one day that's the same, I think that's why I enjoy the work, each day has its own set of tasks and this is what I find so satisfying.
There is a lot of diversity within my work, and it is gratifying. it is this what makes this job so important to me.
I would recommend anybody who is looking for a change in their work to apply, you will never look back
Job Title: Chef
Joined: 2008
In 2008, Gwynfa were upgrading their catering operation. I arrived as an agency chef to cover a cook they had recently employed who had left. After proving myself, I was offered the job. The rest is history.
I am a Chef as my qualifications, experience and skill set dictates. I organise and plan menus, order and take delivery of stock within a set budget. I prepare, cook, and serve nutritious meals, taking into account residents’ personal preferences. I clean and maintain and follow all HACCAP regulations, working to a very high standard.
I find my role rewarding and satisfying, my work is regularly appreciated by both our residents and management. Sometimes challenging and relentless, I mostly work alone and occasionally there are not enough hours in the day.
Job Title: Senior Care Assistant
Joined: 2009
I had been previously worked as a general office administrator for a small company. When this company went under, I was left unemployed. Whilst searching for employment, I came across an advert in the local newspaper, for a care assistant at St Isan’s. I thought that I would give it a go and apply. (I was a bit fed up with office work and fancied something different).
At my interview, I was asked if I would mind, if I was offered a position in a care home for residents with mental health problems. Initially, I was a bit apprehensive, not knowing what to expect. I accepted the position regardless, thinking that I would give it a go.
I have been with the company now for twelve and a half years. I love my job and have worked my way up to senior care. I have completed my levels two, three and five QCF. I have decided to stay in my position as senior care assistant, even though there have been opportunities for me to progress further, because I love the job that I am doing.
Hafod are a good company to work for. They respect their workforce and the work that they do.
Job Title: Carer
Joined: 2019
Hello there! My name is Tracy, and I have been a part of the Gwynfa Care Home team for three years now. Starting as a domestic, I was quickly captivated by the wonderful residents and staff members here, and I knew I wanted to be more involved.
That's why I made the transition to becoming a carer. It has been an incredible journey, and I have gained so much valuable experience and knowledge along the way. I have been able to connect with our residents on a deeper level, and I am honoured to be a part of their daily lives.
But my involvement doesn't stop there. I am also the cook here at Gwynfa Care Home! Cooking has always been a passion of mine, and I am thrilled to be able to share my love for delicious food with our residents. It's incredibly rewarding to see them enjoy the meals I create, and it's just another way that I can contribute to their overall well-being.
Working at Gwynfa Care Home has been an incredible experience for me, and I am so grateful to be a part of this amazing team. I am dedicated to providing the highest level of care and support to our residents, and I look forward to many more years of making a positive impact here.
Job Title: Domestic
Joined: 2021
My name is Emma and I have worked at Gwynfa as a domestic for just over a year, which I enjoy. Before I applied for this role, I previously worked in retail before becoming a full-time mum. After the lockdown ended, I wanted to get back into work again. I have always been interested in working in a caring environment so when I saw the job advertised, I applied immediately. Gwynfa is a lovely place to work and we are all like family.
