After looking at other care homes in Cardiff we realised how lucky mum was to be placed here originally.
The home is spacious, very clean, good food and the carers seem to care which means we can relax and know she is safe and being well looked after.

The Review Score of 8.8 (8.771) out of 10 for Woodcroft Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.
a) The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 6 Reviews in the last 24 months.
b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.1 out of 5 from 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.
The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:
a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.
The Average Rating of 4.671 for Woodcroft Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (55 Excellents x 5) + (7 Goods x 4) + (8 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 70 Ratings = 4.671
b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').
The 4.1 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Woodcroft Care Home is based on 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:
The 5 points available are broken down as follows:
i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 = 3.6
ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 60 registered maximum number of service users is 12. 6 Positive Reviews ÷ 12 = 0.5
When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Hi, I’m Caroline (Caz!), I’m a Senior Carer. I was born and lived on the Isle of Wight until 2016 when I moved to Wales.
I have worked for Hafod for 3 and a half years but have done a variety of care jobs for the past 18 years, including special educational needs, challenging behaviour and dementia care.
I have quite a few qualifications with the highest being 2 QCF Level 3’s in children and young people and health and social care. I also have a degree in Psychology.
I am passionate about making a difference to the residents I care for, their families and my colleagues.
Job Title: Deputy Manager
Joined: 2021
I have worked in care for most of the last two decades and have worked in different care settings and domiciliary care. I worked in another Hafod home (TYP) a few years ago and really enjoyed it but left after I completed my level 5 QCF to pursue a career in domiciliary care management. I then returned to Hafod two years ago when I was accepted for a position as Senior Carer at Gwynfa. Since then, I haven’t looked back. Originally, I had planned to stay at Gwynfa until I completed my degree this summer, however, was successful in securing an interim position as Deputy Manager in May.
I love my work and I really enjoy embracing the challenges that the position brings. Gwynfa is a small home, and it feels more like a family home than a place of work. Our residents have been fantastic, especially during COVID-19 and I really enjoy working with them to help them improve their quality of life. The team members work well together, and I admire the way that they help each other out, both in a professional and personal capacity. I have always felt supported by the manager both at TYP and Gwynfa and this has helped me grow professionally within Hafod.
