Abermill care home, nestled in the heart of the village of Abertridwr, near Caerphilly, provides personalised residential and residential dementia care to older people.

Having been tastefully decorated in 2024, the home offers modern furnishings and rooms with a view, which offer beautiful scenery and views over the Aber stream. There's also a hair salon, library service, café and minibus for resident trips out.

Abermill care home boasts a selection of specially designed dining areas that provide the perfect space to share meals with fellow residents, or family and friends. On those sunny summer days, the patio area is the ideal spot for catching up with family and friends.

The catering team prides itself on ensuring that each meal is an enjoyable and heart-warming experience for every resident and visitor to the home.

The professional care team at Abermill take the time to learn about each resident’s individual hobbies and interests, to help those living in the home to lead an active and fulfilling life. Whenever I visit the staff are very welcoming. They are very aware of the client's individual needs my aunty has been a resident for 18 months and she is very happy and well looked after.

I love the home and the staff that take care of my nan. I feel very welcomed when I come to visit. I love the activities and entertainment they have. The refurbishment is lovely, I highly recommend this care home.

A warm and friendly home with wonderful staff. My nan's mental and physical health has improved drastically during her time here. She has made some great friends, thoroughly enjoys all of the activities and loves all the beautiful meals. I honestly haven't seen her this settled and happy in a long time.
We are all so grateful for everything and everyone at Abermill. Thank you.

My mother is always in clean clothes every day. Staff will try and get her to engage in all activities. The activities throughout December so far have been good. Good posters show what activities are happening every day. The Christmas party was very good.

Visited my brother on several occasions, found staff to be friendly, informative and polite. Brother appeared clean and well cared for and he seemed to have a good rapport with the staff. Have not seen his room as we have always sat in the dining room with him. Could not comment on the quality/variety
of food as never visited at mealtimes. Seems that there are a variety of activities planned for residents, including trips out and visits from entertainers. Staff engage with residents and seem very caring.

My general review is. The outstanding work and resident care of all the staff is 'Top Drawer'. Nothing is too much for them. I am fully happy and content in knowing my mother-in-law is being given the very best care available. Everything that the carers do, is geared for the well-being of all the residents.
I cannot praise these wonderful people enough. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Since Mum has been taken into care due to her being abused by her partner and having Alzheimer's disease, it was only meant to be temporary emergency care. I'm so pleased with how she has improved mentally and physically. She has settled into Abermill and has been living there for three years and over.
I can't find any fault at Ambermill and am very pleased with all care Mum receives. She's improved 100% from what she was like living with her partner, who suffered abuse for 30 years.

My grandad is a resident at Abermill Care Home, and I must say, I am so glad we chose this care home for him. He receives excellent care, and the staff have made him feel very welcome. Every time we visit my grandad, the staff are very attentive, thoughtful and kind, and they take time to really listen
to you my grandad, which is very important. We never feel as if his wishes are not being met.

Since moving into Abermill Care Home my mother has improved to the point she is back to her old self. She was very scared when told that she would be safer (in case she had a fall whilst living on my own) moving to a nursing home, months on and she absolutely love it in Abermill. She has made new friends
and has put on weight. Every time I visit she is so happy. Abermill allows her to live still with her independence but with the security of help if she should fall or us ill. She loves all the staff and can't rate Abermill, and the staff, highly enough.

Mam has been a resident at Abermill and it's said a home is where the heart is - well Abermill nursing home is a home from home. The wonderful staff who care for my mam are second to none. I visited mam at Abermill over the xmas period and to see mam and all her friends enjoying the festive fun was
an exceptional sight. The staff entertained and made mam and everyone's xmas a special time. Thank you from all our family. I can't recommend a better place, especially at xmas. Thank you all Abermill.

Excellent. The home is always clean and tidy, as is my mother who can no longer dress herself and the staff are always cheerful and friendly. My mother always speaks highly of the food and the staff are always doing something for the residents.

My nan has been here for the past year. My nan is settled in Abermill and is very happy and says this is her home. Staff are outstanding and go above and beyond to support my nan and are very welcoming when we visit. The care and support by staff as nothing is too much trouble. The home is always very

Christine

Christine Tipper

Job Title: Home Manager

What does ‘kindness’ mean to you?


“Kind care means getting to know people and understanding their emotions, making every effort to offer the best possible care, and getting Residents involved in the activities that make them happiest.”


Christine started working at Abermill in 2001, and later progressed to Home Manager level after excelling in her role as Deputy Manager at the home. She has gained experience in a number of different care services, including residential and memory care, and has achieved qualifications in health and social services, management and care.


Christine closely shares HC-One’s vision in aiming to provide the kindest care for every Resident. She extends this caring approach to her Colleagues and works closely with them to deliver care and support to Residents in a way that means they gain the most benefit, in a warm and welcoming home.


When asked what she enjoys the most about her role, Christine remarked: “I enjoy taking time to interact with Residents and their Relatives, which allows me to get to know each individual on a personal level.”


Christine credits her biggest achievement as completing a 3km sponsored walk, raising more than £400 for Alzheimer’s Society with the support from her Colleagues and Residents.


Outside of work, Christine enjoys spending quality time with her loved ones, including watching her niece and nephew play rugby.
