Food still inadequate, one fish finger for lunch today (9th September).
Men wandering the corridor still opening the door and sometimes coming in and frightening her.
She sees no one apart from when they bring food and drink, unless she buzzes but then she has opted to stay in her room.
She was
recently poorly and antibiotics didn't seem to be working and she felt no one was listening to her.
She worried that there was not a qualified nurse onsite so felt unsafe.
When I take her food, she seems to think people (who?) take it, I don't know if this is the case or not.
Staff seem lovely.

Deeply saddening to receive this review. Management is always available to discuss any concerns, be it either face to face or via email and staff are also very approachable. Firstly thank you for bringing in items that the individual liked as well as their food supplied by BYM, in regards to 1 fish finger, this would not have been served unless the individual had specified they'd only wanted 1, as they were always approached before each meal to ask what they wanted, incorporating what had been brought in special for them by visitors, which would have been stored in the fridge/kitchen as per food hygiene, and they would have received them as they would have their name on them. In regards man wandering into her room, this did happen and the man was reviewed and moved elsewhere. We are a residential home, however, staff are aware when individuals are ill and concerns are always acted on immediately all of which is all documented. District Nurses and GP input is also regular.

The staff at the care home are great but there's simply not enough employed to run the operation effectively. There are times when residents walk into other people's rooms, which is not good. Consequently, this has resulted in property going missing. I'm always made to feel welcomed when I visit my
mother and this is truly very much appreciated. It's such a shame that there's not enough staff employed, as the staff work really hard to try and cover the shortfalls. I would like to express my gratitude and thanks to all at the care home.

Thank you for your review, also for your kind comments regarding how hard the staff at Bryn Y Mor do work. It is unfortunate that Dementia can affect the way in which any individual with it reacts from day to day and also how they respond in their home environment. Bryn Y Mor endeavours to meet all our resident's individual needs. Some properties that are reported to have gone missing, are often found to have been moved or misplaced. The Manager has an open door policy and is happy to discuss any concerns as soon as practicably possible to deal with any situation that arises.

My sister is happy at the care home and eating a lot better and always clean. Only negative thing is she is not always wearing her own clothes in her wardrobe. The staff are always friendly and helpful. I think some of the residents should go sit in the sun and get fresh air.

My friend, who suffers from cognitive deficiency and gradual dementia, has been at Bryn y Mor for almost two years now. As I visit my friend regularly, I can wholeheartedly say that the management and the staff should be very proud of their consistent and very high standards. The staff have endless
patience, are very caring and respectful and have a sense of humour, keeping a happy atmosphere in the place - I could not fault them. The home is always clean and fresh and of course, is situated in a very beautiful part of the island with outstanding views. Having visited other homes initially, there was no contest - Bryn y Mor was our first choice and I'm so grateful that a room had become available at the time.

Lovely place with amazing views. Always clean and tidy, Mum seems settled here (Alzheimer's), beds are changed regularly, washing done daily. Very happy to have Mum closer to me now. Staff are always very pleasant and helpful, nothing is too much bother for them. My only minor issue is no landlines
to individual rooms, Mum has a mobile but is always fiddling with it and turning if off (the staff are good about turning it back on!)

My father has been a resident for approximately eighteen months and during that time, the staff and care they deliver have been excellent.
I call and see him when I can and he has always seemed happy there.

This is a lovely place with very good staff. Mum in law is 82 & has dementia, she is happy here & is well looked after, always clean & tidy, hair & nails done regularly. The staff banter with her which is what she likes, but I have also seen them with other residents & they are all treated well & with
respect. They have regular entertainment here & the odd day out, they have a trip to Pringles coming up in August. They keep us informed when Mum in law is not well & have the doctor out to visit if necessary. As a family we are happy with the care received & would highly recommend Bryn Y Mor.

Current Review Score: 9.2 (9.189)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.2 (9.189) out of 10 for Bryn y Mor is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.4 out of 5 from 10 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.8 out of 5 from 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.389 for Bryn y Mor is calculated as follows: ( (63 Excellents x 5) + (34 Goods x 4) + (13 Satisfactorys x 3) + (3 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 113 Ratings = 4.389

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.8 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Bryn y Mor is based on 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.8

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 27 registered maximum number of service users is 5.4, which has been reached with 8 Positive reviews. Points = 1

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
