My dad went into the home for palliative care at the end of his life. He was treated with the utmost respect and dignity. The ladies were brilliant with him and made his last weeks of life very comfortable. I was lucky to be allowed to see him whenever I wanted and for as long as I wanted, which was
a blessing to me. They treated me with respect and were always asking if I needed anything. I was lucky to be with my dad at the end and can't thank the ladies enough for looking after my dad and myself, because of them he had a good death and I will be eternally grateful to them. Thanks ladies.

Went to visit my mum for her Xmas party and what a fantastic day we all had! Everyone in Xmas jumpers, beautiful decorations, then a great sing-song and dancing and to top it all off, a visit from Santa. The activities co-ordinator deserves a medal! Well done.

Mother has settled in extremely well, the previous care home was closing down and had resided there for 7 years. General maintenance engineer helped immensely t prepare the room to make it home from home. After the initial getting to know you settling in period she now feels she has always lived there
and enjoys the banter with the staff. The only issue is the noise of the alarms still unsure what the sounds is and confused it with a phone ringing.

Was seen in private about my Mum's progress. Did not have many issues. The one I did have was taken on board and rectified. Staff and manager are approachable and always ready to listen or chat to. Next review will be March 2019. Have no problem recommending Wallace View to anyone who needs their facilities.

My aunt has been here for 7 months and her care has been fantastic. The staff are very friendly. There is a great food choice. Even though my aunt does not want to be part of the entertainment the variety is excellent. She has her hair done weekly and a pedicure and manicure regularly. My aunt is very
happy.

Firstly I must say that I have no experience of other care homes so have nothing to compare Wallace View against.
Overall I find the home very welcoming and all residents appear to be treated with great care and attention.
My main complaint would be the laundry facilities. This is an ongoing problem
re getting the right clothes back to the individual residents which I know management are trying to sort out.
Otherwise, I am happy for my wife to be resident there.

When it was decided that our aunt needed 24-hour care, my sister and I were concerned about finding her a suitable home that would accommodate her particular needs. We have been so pleased that we chose Wallace View. The staff are attentive, caring and focused on enabling our aunt to live as good a
life as she can. We heartily recommend Wallace View.

I feel more training etc needs to be done regarding blind people.
My Gran is in the home, she's blind and it's things like the cleaner putting the bin back in the wrong place, carers moving Gran's cream etc that's upsetting Gran.
She has everything where she knows it is and when it's not where she
leaves it, she gets upset.
Oral hygiene needs to be pushed to make sure it's done daily as Gran's hasn't been getting done.
She can go a day or two without her teeth getting cleaned.

Reply from Jackie Hallewell, Marketing at Wallace View

Thank you for your review. We are currently undertaking oral hygiene training with all of our staff, but appreciate you raising the matter. We are holding supervisions and meetings with all of our staff to ensure our residents needs come first. We currently have 1 resident who is visually impaired, but is independent with supervision. Please do not hesitate to come into the home and talk to the Manager about your concerns.

My mother moved into Wallace View in July 2018 and is very content and happy she often tells me how good the staff are to her. Her health has improved and she has gained weight, probably due to excellent meals. I find the staff extremely caring and patient.

Mum was very difficult to handle when she first went into care. However, the nurses and carers in at Wallace View worked with us and with a great level of care and attention they have managed to get her settled, content and happy. The high level of attentiveness and the fact that the staff really do
care hand have helped us to get to this point. We feel that we have made a great decision in having mum as a resident at Wallace View and can't thank the staff enough.

Great home - staff pushed to their limits, never have enough time to relax and talk with the residents. Always rushing to next post, buzzers never stop the whole time I visit, which is nearly everyday.
Carers so busy they always looked stressed, even with more staff.
I believe this to be a great
home.

Thank you so much for your wonderful review and we are so pleased that you have taken the time to let us know how great the staff at Wallace View are. We would like to reassure you, however, that we staff the home above dependency levels at present and the resident's dependency levels are checked monthly.

My Nana has been staying in Wallace View since December 2015. We really couldn't ask for anything else from the amazing staff there. My nana's named carer left the room one day when I was visiting, and nana proceeded to tell me "that girl is lovely, nothing is ever too much work for her and she would
do anything for anyone." It was very comforting to hear and myself and my mum are very happy with her heightened standard of living since moving in.

Current Review Score: 9.1 (9.112)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.1 (9.112) out of 10 for Wallace View is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 7 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.3 out of 5 from 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.829 for Wallace View is calculated as follows: ( (68 Excellents x 5) + (14 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 82 Ratings = 4.829

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.283 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Wallace View is based on 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.7

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 60 registered maximum number of service users is 12. 7 Positive Reviews ÷ 12 = 0.583

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
