My mother required care for complicated physical, psychiatric and dementia problems. Barrogil House agreed to take mum in, to see if she would settle and hopefully find a home where she would find peace of mind and body. Sadly mum continued to have increasing difficulties and did not improve despite
the heroic, continuous and supportive care of staff and management. Everything that could have been done was done for mum. No other team could have done more.

On behalf of my family, I would like to extend our grateful and sincere gratitude to all the management and staff at Barrogil House for the compassion and care you showed to our sister during the short time she resided.
Your professional standards were exhibited from the very first day my sister arrived,
and the staff at all levels had very good interaction and communication with the family. You catered for my sisters every need and helped her gently through her difficult times. I know my sister appreciated your care as she would speak about how she found the staff friendly and that she was happy with the way you treated her.
My family would like to say thank you for the respectful and dignified way you treated our sister right up to her final hour.
Thank you.

My mother in law was cared for by Barrogil House from January 2022 until her passing in November 2024.
We have been very happy with the person centred care provided. All staff showed a positive desire to make mum feel as at home as possible and her interests were considered when staff engaged with
her and with us.
We are particularly grateful for the compassion and gentle care given to mum and to us as a family when it became apparent that mum was dying. The team at Barrogil were professional and sensitive to all our needs.
Thank you Team Barrogil.

My mother-in-law had been a resident in Barrogil House from July 2021 until she sadly, passed away in October 2024. During these three years, she was cared for to the highest standard by a wonderful staff team led by an excellent management team. The communication from the team was top-class, always
notifying the family of any concerns or incidents, we always felt we were kept firmly in the loop.
Staff always treated my mother-in-law with full respect and tried wherever possible to adapt their activities to suit her specific needs. The care that was given to her after a period of hospitalisation was nothing short of remarkable. One nurse simply wasn't going to accept the poor prognosis from the hospital and tried everything in her skills to help... in the first three days after discharge, more progress was made getting her to eat/drink than the entire time in hospital. This determination must be commended.
Overall, we will be forever grateful for the care and love shown during these three years.

My father was a resident at Barrogil House for the last few months of his life. Over the last seven years he had had carers in his own home, been resident for periods in hospitals, and in two other nursing homes, but Barrogil was by far the best nursing home he had been to.
My only regret is that we
never found Barrogil sooner. It is in a lovely, peaceful location with countryside views, and the accommodation is to a high standard and is kept scrupulously clean. But it is the professionalism and caring attitude of all the staff that really impressed me.
All the staff - nurses, carers, housekeeping, and management - treated my dad with great respect and dignity. And were very supportive of our family.
I witnessed many many acts of kindness from the staff towards various different residents during my daily visits.
I know from personal experience that it is very difficult to find a good nursing home for your loved one. But I would recommend Barrogil as being one of the best.

My dad has Alzheimer's Disease and had to eventually go into full-time care in July of 2022. We were so lucky to find him a place in Barrogil House! He has been there for almost six months, and I could not be more impressed with the facility. The staff are all very friendly and know every resident by
name and treat them so well. There is an upbeat, light atmosphere all the time, and it's never dull. They have an entertainment coordinator and often have singers and entertainers come in to keep spirits high. The rooms are very spacious, all with an ensuite shower and toilet. Cleanliness is to a high standard, and my dad is always clean and fresh when I visit. I try to visit every few days and always know he will be well taken care of when I'm not there. Meals always look tasty, and there is always a constant tea and snack service if needed. Having had a very bad experience with the emergency care home my dad went into first, Barrogil House was a breath of fresh air. Highly recommended. A+.

I just want to say how impressed and in awe of Barrogil House Care Home I am. My mum has now been a resident for over a year and I have seen her mental health improve due to the care, social interaction and safe environment and nothing is a problem. The manager and covid lead are doing an amazing job
and communication is excellent. My mother's care has been outstanding and would highly recommend any family to consider this care home.

Outstanding care home on all levels. As a retired CEO organisations reflect the values of their leaders. This home has an outstanding focus and value-driven leader. This is reflected in the staff and therefore the professional and caring way that residents are nurtured and looked after. During these
challenging times, the home has coped and flourished. My aunt was 100 years old recently it was a pleasure for the family, my aunt and the staff to celebrate such a great day together.

Current Review Score: 9.2 (9.181)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.2 (9.181) out of 10 for Barrogil House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 6 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.4 out of 5 from 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.831 for Barrogil House is calculated as follows: ( (59 Excellents x 5) + (12 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 71 Ratings = 4.831

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.35 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Barrogil House is based on 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 = 3.6

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 40 registered maximum number of service users is 8. 6 Positive Reviews ÷ 8 = 0.75

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
