My father has very complicated needs, he is paralysed, suffers from aphasia/dysphasia, can be emotionally demanding or aggressive.
He has never been as happy as he is now in Wyvis House, it is a credit to the team that his needs are being met beyond all expectations.
He looks happy and healthy and
he regards all of the team with great fondness and affection
I'm amazed that anyone could achieve the results that Wyvis House has and have every confidence that in my absence my father is treated as a member of a loving family.
I also have to express my gratitude to carehome.co.uk for finding Wyvis House and putting me in touch with them at a very stressful time when I felt like I was drowning in all of the work required to get my dad into residential care, I'm sincerely grateful. Thank you.

A year ago, my parents moved into Wyvis House. Both had dementia, mobility and heart issues and were no longer safe at home. The staff did everything possible to help them feel at home, including making one room a living room and one a joint bedroom. We even brought in their own furniture!
Although
initially unsure about the move, my parents were soon delighted with the friendly staff, quality of care and excellent food! The nursing and care staff were endlessly patient and compassionate, despite some difficult behaviour at times. They are also very kind to me as a carer and keep me very well informed. Sadly, due to serious health issues, Mum died in hospital 6 months ago. I was astounded at the extra attention showered on Dad in the following tough months by nurses, carers, kitchen and maintenance staff! I know that with lesser care he would not have pulled through. Now, he is getting stronger and smiling again! We both appreciate knowing he has the best 24/7 nursing and social care.

Mum is a resident at Wyvis House Care Home where she has been for 8 months now and has settled well. The staff are all amazing and have the residents best interests at heart. Mum finds it difficult to accept help but the staff have continually worked with her to gain her confidence. The staff are always
polite and courteous when we visit and they keep us informed of matters relating to Mum. Overall, I don't think we could've found a better home for Mum to be in.

My aunt has been a resident at Wyvis House for almost six years. I have been pleased with the care she has received. I feel the staff have had a very difficult job to do during the Covid pandemic, keeping their residents safe and doing activities when they can under very trying circumstances. I have
been informed of any changes to visiting patterns. I really appreciate the personal attention they have given to my aunt when I cannot be there.

My mum has been a resident in Wyvis House for 2 years now and has been extremely well looked after. This is very reassuring for me as I live 300 miles away and have been unable to visit due to Covid and family circumstances. However, my brother and I speak to her regularly on WhatsApp and can see how
well she is doing despite her dementia. I am kept well informed of her needs and the staff should be praised for keeping the home Covid free.

My father stayed at Wyvis house in 2019 due to a severe deterioration in his condition relating to Parkinson's disease and the onset of Alzheimer's. My father was extremely well looked after, and his wife and the rest of our family were very happy with the care he received from the staff. Unfortunately
in June 2021, my mother was hospitalised for a couple of months and also now requires 24-hour care. The issue of where to go was thankfully resolved very easily when she heard Wyvis House had a care room available, in fact, they held the room for my mother whilst the hospital was slow to release her, and Wyvis House knew that they were her preferred care home preference.
My mother has been delighted with the care she has received since moving into Wyvis House. The staff are always very helpful and go above and beyond to ensure my mother is made comfortable whilst in their care.

My father receives first-class care. He thinks that the staff are really nice people and he raves about the food.
My father was in very poor health both physically and mentally when he entered Wyvis House. As he says, and I quote, I have been rejuvenated.

Wonderful to see my father in law involved in several activities which will enhance his well being and are shared with the family on the Storii app. As we live a long way away from him this communication is priceless as are the video calls we receive with himself and his lovely carer. We are so reassured
that he receives the very best of care and are very grateful for it.

My mother who lives with dementia has been a resident of Wyvis House since the autumn of 2019. From the very first day mam was settled, very happy and content. The staff are so friendly, kind, helpful and compassionate and always treat mam with the utmost respect. When visiting, staff always welcome
you warmly and when asked will update you how my mother is getting on. The activities co-ordinators do a fantastic job of arranging entertainment which my mother enjoys especially music. I’m kept well informed by the nursing staff of how mam is. I highly recommend Wyvis House and cannot thank staff enough for the loving care they give to mam.

The care my dad has received from all the staff has been superb. I am not in the UK so it could be a huge worry for me to not be on hand but I am 100% confident that my dad is safe and extremely well looked after. All the staff are friendly, kind and welcoming. Nothing is too much trouble. Thank you
from the bottom of my heart.

My mother has been a resident for almost 3 years now and is very well looked after in Wyvis House. The staff are caring, friendly, and conscientious, the food is excellent, and the staff work hard to keep the residents occupied and happy with activities and entertainment. I have no hesitation in recommending
this care home to any prospective resident.

My mum has been a resident at Wyvis House Care Home since October 2020. She has dementia, when her husband/carer got ill she had to move in to receive the care required.
All staff at the centre have been accommodating, keeping me informed of Mum's welfare and arranging video chats through the Covid
pandemic.
Mum has been well looked after and cared for, the staff really do care for the residents and put their welfare above all else.

My mother lived in Wyvis House for two years, as she was failing physically. She was as sharp as a tack mentally and so, when she told me repeatedly that the staff at Wyvis were its greatest strength, I knew this to be so. She thought very highly of everyone there: the owners, the management, the care-workers,
the admin staff, the domestic staff, the laundresses, the hairdresser, the handymen, the activity coordinators and the catering staff. She actively participated in the residents' meetings, where she never shied away from making constructive suggestions and following these up if she thought they hadn't been actioned. She was fortunate to have had many loyal visitors while she was a resident and appreciated the voluntary visitors who also popped in to see her. All her visitors were treated with friendliness and respect. My mother passed away in May 2020 aged 97, having won her last game of Scrabble two weeks previously. She was always treated with the utmost compassion there.

My wife was a resident at Wyvis for two years. She was very well treated and the staff were extremely kind and considerate. They kept in touch with me and were always kind to my wife, who died in February 2021 from natural causes.

Current Review Score: 8.6 (8.550)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.6 (8.550) out of 10 for Wyvis House Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 3 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.6 out of 5 from 3 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

The Average Rating of 5.000 for Wyvis House Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (33 Excellents x 5) ) ÷ 33 Ratings = 5

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 3.55 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Wyvis House Care Home is based on 3 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.25

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 50 registered maximum number of service users is 10. 3 Positive Reviews ÷ 10 = 0.3

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
