Blenham House has 60 beautiful single bedrooms with spacious ensuite shower facilities, arranged over three floors. There are two lifts which access each of the three floors. The freshly decorated bedrooms have telephone and Internet access, a wall mounted TV and a nurse call system, for prompt assistance. Each floor has its own comfortable open plan lounge with wide screen TV, and dining area with a fully-fitted pantry and also an extra-quiet lounge. The conservatory on the ground floor has a door out into the garden – always a popular place to sit with a cup of tea, or for gardening activities when weather permits.

Events and activities are hugely enjoyed at Blenham House and the dedicated team, full calendar and the availability of their own minibus ensures that the level of participation is high.

An excellent Chef and kitchen team offer nutritionally-balanced, freshly prepared meals. The menu changes on a four-weekly cycle and they try to accommodate different tastes and diets as far as possible. Residents choose where to eat. Some people like the privacy of their own room, whilst others enjoy eating together in the dining room.

I don't quite know where to start to explain how wonderful this care home is. My mother has just recently passed away after being in Blenham House for three years. Every single member of staff, from cleaning, housekeeping, care assistant and nursing staff, was just wonderful. Their care to my mum and
to my family couldn't have been more attentive and caring. There is a lovely atmosphere in Blenham. It wasn't uncommon for us to come out of the lift to see carers dancing, singing and laughing with the residents. The place is spotlessly clean and bright.
Many of the care staff have been there for quite some time and they clearly love being involved in the residents' lives.
Don't hesitate to place your loved one in their exceptional care.

My review is relating to my mum's year long stay at Blenham House. She had genuine care here, that included her emotional needs and needs of the family. I am forever grateful. There are so many activities and time made available. Residents are treated as individuals and with respect and dignity.

Our dad received amazing care at Blenham House. All the staff were kind and courteous towards him and every family member that visited. Dad had Alzheimer's but was well aware of the level of care he was receiving, and was delighted to be there. He was cleanly shaven with his teeth brushed and in fresh
clothes every day. This may seem like a standard level of care you would expect your elderly relative to receive anywhere, but I know from experience that it's not to the same standard at every hospital or care home. All at Blenham House provide this at the base level of their excellent care, often going far above and beyond. The meals provided at Blenham House are nutritious and appealing, with the chef happy to receive suggestions to ensure residents can enjoy their favourites. The manager and all her staff can feel proud of their wonderful facility that provides such a beautiful experience for vulnerable residents at the end stage of their lives, and such care and compassion shown to the family.

My dad lived at Blenham House Care Home until he died, of advanced Alzheimer's, and during that time was looked after with incredible loving kindness by the entire team. Everyone from the kitchen and housekeeping, to nurses and carers, as well as management and admin staff were true friends to him and
made our whole family feel welcome and included in every aspect of his life there. Their relationship with the local GP practice is excellent. I can highly recommend Blenham House to families who are looking for genuine care for a loved one in an unpretentious, upbeat environment where your concerns are taken seriously and nothing is too much bother.

Each time I visit my mum I have found all the staff to be extremely friendly and helpful. My mum has been living there since January 2023 and she is very happy and well looked after by all of your staff.
My mum is receiving excellent care at Blenham House Care Home and her overall health has improved
immensely since being admitted there.
I can not fault Blenham House at all. All of my family members are extremely grateful for the excellent care our mum is receiving.
I live in Tampa, Florida and travel over to Edinburgh as often as I can to see my mum. I call my mum most days and she is always happy and content. This is a huge relief for me, being so far away to hear my mum happy.

The care for my father-in-law has been exemplary, with the management team being particularly responsive. All members of staff are very kind and caring with them all remembering the names of residents and regular visitors. The care is professional and knowledgeable and the wishes of residents/relatives
are listened to. Visitors are always welcomed.

Blenham House Care Home has a truly warm, welcoming aura. Some long-serving staff, which augers well and they are never too busy to discuss care etc. My brother has complex mental and physical needs and staff and he are in a good place now. I am getting on a bit now and have been his carer/advocate
forever and I can now truly say I do not worry about him or feel guilty that he is in a nursing home. Other residents seem contented and smiling and will engage with you sometimes if they can. The meals are excellent, menus are varied and familiar to residents which I think is important. ie. mince and tatties.

I really cannot commend Blenham House highly enough. My mother moved into Blenham in March 22, and the care she received was exemplary. The care that was also extended to me and my family as my mother approached the end of her life was first-class. I would not hesitate to recommend Blenham House to
anyone looking for care for a family member.

I cannot recommend Blenham House Care Home highly enough. The respectful care and kindness shown by all the staff is amazing. They really get to know the actual people in their care. There are many activities and outings for residents and plenty of pleasant social areas. The rooms are clean and comfortable.

All the family are so pleased with the care mum is receiving at Blenham House, all the staff are very friendly and although mum has only been there a couple of months, they have got to know her well. This includes manager, kitchen, domestic and admin staff. Always something going on eg singing, bus
trip etc. Blenham House itself is so light and airy with numerous lounges to use when visiting. Very well run. We were anxious as to how mum would settle as can be bit difficult at times due to her dementia but staff have been great. Nothing too much trouble.

Current Review Score: 8.9 (8.878)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.9 (8.878) out of 10 for Blenham House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 6 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.1 out of 5 from 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.778 for Blenham House is calculated as follows: ( (57 Excellents x 5) + (14 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 72 Ratings = 4.778

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.1 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Blenham House is based on 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 = 3.6

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 60 registered maximum number of service users is 12. 6 Positive Reviews ÷ 12 = 0.5

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

I came to Blenham House in 2007 when it was newly opened. It has been a challenge and somewhat of a labour of love to have helped shape it into what we have today – something that would have been impossible without the dedication and hard work of our great staff. I hope (and know) that our Residents and their families feel that this is their home. We try very hard to respect the choices of individuals – which leads to quite a diverse little community here. I know I am doing my job well when I can see lots of smiling faces – both Residents and Staff!
