Alt-Na-Craig House care home is in Inverclyde and gives residents a relaxed and comfortable home in a grand Victorian mansion. The home is designed to promote small group living by providing accommodation for 53 residents.

Although equipped with every modern comfort Alt Na Craig House retains an air of unhurried tranquillity with a welcoming atmosphere and a sense of family that ensures that residents feel relaxed and at home.

To make guests feel truly at ease requires dedicated staff. The home has a team of staff who have an intuitive understanding of Alt Na Craig' s tradition of care, compassion and hospitality.

While staying at the home residents will enjoy stunning views of the Firth of Clyde and countryside beyond. From the moment they walk through the door they will find a very warm welcome.

The aim is to welcome everyone into the home, both family and friends and Alt Na Craig House will try to make the transition into the home as welcoming as possible and hop that residents find it a happy and enjoyable place to stay.

The care home's lounge bar has proved to be a huge success in encouraging people to relax and socialise. This is a wonderful setting for in-house entertainment, birthday parties and recreational activities.

My dad stayed and Alt-Na-Craig House for 4 years. I cannot fault the care my dad was given. He loved the carers as they always had time to chat to him. If there were ever any issues they were dealt with promptly and efficiently. My dad was always shown privacy, dignity, and respect his whole time at
Alt-Na-Craig House. Thank you to all the team.

Our mother was a resident in Alt-Na-Craig for 16 years. She was extremely happy and well cared for. She had a lovely room with a beautiful view. The place was well run and professionally excellent. But the most important thing to us was the staff. They treated mum with such care and consideration. They
are friendly and kind to both residents and family and friends. We are all extremely grateful to them all.

My mum has been in Alt-Na-Craig for 3 years and we have never had any problems. The staff have always been very kind and helpful. Throughout lockdown, the staff used a video link to let my mum see me. The only problem I have experienced is with Mum's food, she has problems swallowing and all the food
tastes the same. Apart from that, I am happy with the way things are with my mum's care.

My mother-in-law has been a resident at Alt-Na-Craig House for almost 2 years now. I wanted to complete this review to show our appreciation for the wonderful care she receives. The staff are kind, dedicated and hard-working. My mother-in-law was ill in January with a chest infection and thanks to the
staff has made a full recovery. We simply cannot thank them enough.

The home going into lockdown in early 2020 was a huge worry because my mother had been used to regular visits and phone calls, and I knew that the sudden withdrawal of that physical contact was going to be hard for her to take. With the Home Manager’s consent, I swiftly moved to have mum furnished with
an iPhone in her room, and with a view from her bedroom to the garden, I knew that with support from the staff, I could stand in the garden every day and speak to mum on the phone. She would be able to see me whilst chatting, and moreover, I would be able to see her and be able to note any decline. The Manager and her team have been so accommodating, and despite heavy workloads and without complaint, have facilitated those incoming calls daily. I cannot speak highly enough of the personnel team at Alt-Na-Craig House, and I believe that their assistance, patience, and understanding, have allowed my elderly mum to get through the last year feeling supported both physically and mentally.

Having no experience of dealing with care homes I was anxious and upset at my dad being there, but the staff have done a great job of making my dad happy and safe. He can be quite a challenge with having dementia and poor mobility. I am happy knowing he is safe and happy there. He recently told me he
likes it there.

It was a very stressful time for the family when it was clear that mum would no longer be able to be cared for from home. However, since the day my mum was admitted to Alt-Na-Craig she has been treated with the kindness and knowledge that we could never give her at home. The care she receives there
far exceeds our expectation. She is treated as a much-loved member of a family ie. the residents of the home. She is treated with love and all her needs are not just met but anticipated. We have no concerns regarding her care whatsoever.

Sharon is the manager at Alt-Na-Craig House, having previously worked as the Deputy Manager. She has worked within the care home for over 16 years as a Staff Nurse and Clinical Lead before taking on the management roles. Sharon has a wealth of experience within the care home sector.

Cat McIntosh

Job Title: Staff Nurse

Cat has worked in Alt Na Craig for a number of years with a break in between. She has recently returned with a wealth of the private sector experience with her. Cat is very knowledgeable in the care home sector, resident care needs and is extremely passionate about persona centred care for each of the resident that she supports.

Tom has provided his culinary experience to the residents of Alt Na Craig for a number of years. He is very passionate about nutrition in the elderly and prides himself in keeping up to date with residents likes, dislikes and preferences.
