My Daughter and I went to visit my Mum and we were treated so well and staff couldn't do enough to help us. My first indication of Larkfield View Care Centre being well established was the cleanliness, no aroma's which I have noticed in other Care homes.
My mum's room and bathroom were spotless and
appears that Mum is taken great care of.

She was originally in another care home, but she never really settled in there. It may be down to the Larkfield View having a designated floor for people with dementia, the staff know how to deal with dementia patients and different situations. If there has been any small issue, it's been looked into
and resolved very quick. We are always informed of any changes going on at the home. One of the latest phone calls was to inform us that they are thinking of splitting the unit, so most of the bedbound residents are at one side of the building and the non-bedbound are on the other side, this is to prevent walkers going into the bedbound's rooms which we think is a great idea. It's good to see they are always thinking of how to improve things at the home. We have got to know the staff over the years and all are very helpful and will do anything they can to help. We both feel my mum is in very good hands in Larkfield View.

A truly genuinely caring home.
Our experience has been outstanding in all respects, and the staff are wonderful.
I have a little insight into care homes in this area having worked in HSCP in Greenock, but I can honestly state our experience in Larkfield View has surpassed all our expectations.
Wonderful.

My 95 year old mother had a few falls at home and after spending some time in hospital, I was told she wasn't fit to return home and would need extra care. After visiting various care homes and careful consideration, I decided that Larkfield View Care Centre looked the best for my mother's needs. Mum
settled in right away. I can't praise the staff enough for the exceptional care and attention shown to my mum 24/7 and I am always made very welcome when I visit daily. I couldn't be more appreciative of everything the home is doing for her. Mum is much happier and healthier than she has been in quite some time and it gives me peace of mind knowing she is safe and very well looked after.

The staff in Larkfield View Care Centre are amazing. The care and attention they give to my mum is extraordinary. My family are at peace to know our mum is safe and well looked after. The activities and entertainment are fantastic. I have only ever given positive feedback to friends, relations and co-workers
on how this care home provides outstanding care. Thank you, thank you for looking after my mum.

My mother has lived all her life in Largs. Mum had a brain tumour that was removed but sadly mum was never the same. Mum spent 1 year at another rehabilitation care home and was well looked after. Later and after 3 years of care at home, which was a disaster, mum moved on New Year's Eve 2021 into Larkfield
Care Centre. After a slow start, my mum settled in very well and has since formed friendships within the Care Centre. I live in Australia and being able to see the pictures and videos of the Larkfield Residents enjoying themselves is a wonderful thing. I was home in September 2022 for my mum's birthday and visited my mum in Larkfield a dozen times. It was so lovely to see my mum happy again and in a secure place. Larkfield staff were just amazing. There are always things going on to entertain the residents.

My wife, daughter and I are so grateful to the staff in Larkfield for all their wonderful efforts and care that they continue to show my mum.

The staff are very friendly, nothing is ever a problem for them. Mum is very happy and has settled very well since moving in here and I see a huge difference in mum, the staff look after her so well. The surroundings are bright with some beautiful artwork on the walls. There are loads of activities
that mum can join in with sometimes she needs support during these activities which is always available.

When my aunty came from Fife in March, she was very subdued and had a few falls in her own home. Within a couple of weeks, she was talking and had a new lease of life. Cannot thank all the staff for their help, enough. When I visit, she is never in her room, always in the lounge with her friend and
she's always saying that the staff are wonderful (her words not mine), so makes me happy.

I am so pleased with how welcome the staff and residents have made my mum feel. They go over and above to support her and she is thriving, healthier and happier than she has been for a while. The staff can't do enough for her and us as a family. Thank you so much for helping her and us to settle. I
thought she may go downhill but the opposite is true.

My father has only recently moved into Larkfield View. I am impressed by the level of care he has received. There is a pleasant atmosphere in the home and the staff seem happy at their work. The staff are approachable and knowledgeable about my dad's needs. This has made it easier for my dad to settle
in. Thank you.

My dad has settled down really well, for the most part, this is down to the staff! Everyone I have met has been cheery and happy to help, which is a huge relief and this gives the family some peace of mind. His room has everything he needs and we are able to make it feel like home. Good freedom to roam
and encourage to mix and join in the activities provided. Thank you.

My experience was met with an understanding of what my dad had went through in a previous home. His needs and care place, which were discussed with one of the managers, have been met and beyond what I ever expected. My dad is settled most of the time, and staff on all levels of care understand his anxiety
at night. Entertainment to the kitchen to domestic staff is also fantastic. Dealing with my own issues due to the previous home was taken into consideration. Best thing I have ever done.

My husband has been a resident of Larkfield View Care Centre for the last three months after his discharge from hospital. Due to his lack of mobility, and severe health issues, he was unable to return home where I have cared for him for the previous five years. His nursing care in the home has been
exceptional, and very professional and due to the kindness and active interaction with all staff members he has settled into his new surrounding extremely well. His every need and request is quickly acted on and he has built up a very good rapport with the staff. I am kept very much up to date on his condition and I am consulted on all his nursing and the doctor's care. I have also been made to feel very welcome when I visit daily. Recently he was able to tell a visiting care commission representative personally what good care he was receiving and how "At Home" he feels in his new surroundings. He is very much enjoying the variety of food that is served and both of us cannot praise Larkfield View Care Centre enough.

My experience in visiting care home is that staff are all very nice and helpful. They make you welcome, also if you need them for any reason, they come right away. My mum is in bed all the time, I feel she could be put in a wheelchair at least twice a week to join in with activities or singers that
are brought in. Just my opinion, at the same time, I understand staff are busy. As for food, I don't see it.

Warm, friendly atmosphere on entry to te care home. My husband's room was comfortably cosy with everything to had and he chose to remain in it, however, I did see the wonderful interactive care the staff gave to him in difficult circumstances and the telephone feed back was a godsend when unable to
visit. I've so much praise for the wonderful work you do. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Dad was a man with strong values and principles, staff did a great job of keeping them intact which would have pleased him greatly. His care was excellent, not just from the clinical nursing side of assessing his needs, but also the caring side as the person. I will be forever grateful to the staff
member who helped Dad write a letter to Mum the day before he passed, it brought her so much comfort. Thank you. The staff team are excellent and pull together to get the best result for the individual involved. I have seen this first hand during Dad's care, they do so much more than their job description, 100% more. Thank you for looking after Dad and I would recommend this service very highly.

Although given the covid circumstances I did not get to see my grandpa as often as I would have in normal times. Each time I did see him I could tell he was well cared for. His room was very clean and homely and he always was as comfortable as possible. The staff were always very friendly and accomodating
and in my grandpas last weeks, they clearly went over and above their job role. From what I could see on visits the staff relationships were very good and they showed a great deal of compassion and empathy. It really helped me and my family in hard times to know the one thing we did not need to worry about was his care and comfort.

My husband is very well cared for at the home. He is settled and happy due to the staff there. I receive updates during the pandemic which is good and FaceTime. It can be very difficult at times to contact the unit by phone, but everything else is good.

Current Review Score: 9.1 (9.139)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.1 (9.139) out of 10 for Larkfield View Care Centre is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 8 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.2 out of 5 from 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.895 for Larkfield View Care Centre is calculated as follows: ( (86 Excellents x 5) + (8 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 95 Ratings = 4.895

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.244 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Larkfield View Care Centre is based on 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.8

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 90 registered maximum number of service users is 18. 8 Positive Reviews ÷ 18 = 0.444

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
