My dad, who has dementia, is currently in Larkfield View Care Centre. He has been there for almost a year now and I cannot fault the standard of care he has received.
The staff are all amazing and the manager knows every one of the residents. It’s been unfortunate that since my dad has been in I’ve
not seen him that much due to the Covid restrictions. The staff do everything they can to allow loved ones to visit and every time I’ve seen him he looks well cared for. I also receive a weekly update by phone.
The home also has a Facebook page where they post photos and videos of what the residents and staff have been up to. It’s lovely to see photos of my dad looking well if I can’t see him. They are always busy with activities and parties.
I’m so glad I picked Larkfield View.

We are contented with the care provided, we have never ever been disappointed with anything, the staff go over and beyond for our loved one.
Support for the family has been second to none, during this pandemic, any questions I have asked have been answered straight away.

When my nana had to go into permanent care we were extremely worried and upset for many different reasons. Larkfield View and the care and treatment and attention she gets there has completely and utterly put all of us at ease. I can't believe how on the ball they are with peoples needs including keeping
the residents occupied but also keeping the families updated and having an input in different things.
I want to move in and become a resident myself, right now!

I would like to say a huge thank you to the staff of Garval Unit who cared for my mum from 8th December 2020. Although we could not visit due to covid. My brother managed one visit and found Mum very comfortable. We were kept in touch by staff regularly of everything that was happening right up until
she passed away on 10th January
We cannot thank you all enough for her care and support given to us.

Larkfield View is extremely well managed. The staff work as a team - management, office, catering, cleaning, housekeeping and the amazing nursing and care staff who go above and beyond to meet the needs of all the residents. The environment is extremely nurturing and caring and there is always a warm
and welcoming atmosphere when you visit the home. The team have pulled out all the stops over the past year during this horrific pandemic. They have been extremely supportive and honest with relatives and have kept lines of communication open throughout. They have entertained and stimulated our loved ones with their own amazing talents. They have organised so many activities, taken on the role of entertainers themselves dressed up for theme days and have marked special occasions in style. I cannot thank them enough for the wonderful work they do. A true team effort!

My brother-in-law has settled well into the home and the staff work hard to give them variety and keep them busy, especially during this pandemic. My only criticism is the difficulty in getting hold of the Garval Unit by phone to check on how my brother-in-law is. My sister-in-law has spent full afternoons/evenings
trying to get through which can be upsetting/frustrating especially with everything going on currently. She does receive updates at times and Facetime but is not always aware if they are happening for sure or when. My brother-in-law seems settled and is participating much more in activities due to the hard work of the staff, he is very well looked after and my sister-in-law is alerted re any issues. I have had to mark security low as my brother-in-law did manage to get out last year. Thank you.

The love and care my mother has received during her stay at Larkfield View has been outstanding. The staff go above and beyond to ensure the residents are treated like members of their own families. During these difficult times, they somehow have managed to keep our spirits up and reassured us. I can’t
thank them enough. They are angels.

My mum was a resident here for 18months until her death in April 2020. I was so glad she was here, the staff were warm and welcoming and so kind to all their residents, an absolute credit to their profession and I can't thank them enough for the love and care shown to my mum and us.

The overall care experience in the home is excellent. Nothing is ever too much for the staff. It has a totally "at home" feel to the home. I would actually liken Larkfield View to a 5-star hotel in regards to the care and attention my father receives. I was initially worried when my father had to go
into a care home and I can honestly say he has settled in so well and absolutely loves the staff.

I would recommend Larkfield View to anyone. The staff are friendly and go the extra mile. My Gran has made lots of friends and is encouraged to take part in different activities. She says the food is great too when she was at home she wasn't eating very much at all.

My father has been a resident for one year ten months and I have been very satisfied with his care so far.
However, in January, my father's health deteriorated to the extent that we thought he might pass away. During this difficult time, the care home staff were most supportive, kind, generous and
made what was an awful time for us much easier to deal with.

My family have had relatives in Larkfield View for over 8 years now on all 3 floors.
We have absolute confidence in the staff and the daily care my Gran receives.
We each all visit at different times on a daily basis and love the care and affection that is shown to my Gran.
We would recommend to
all people who are considering their loved ones being housed here.

As anyone will tell you, placing a loved one in care is one of the hardest things in life to have to face. The situation my Father is in forced our hand and we reluctantly agreed that he be put into the care of the Larkfield View Care home in Greenock back in August 2018.
We visited the home prior
to his admission to see what it was like and were immediately impressed with the surroundings. The facility was much more modern than we had dared to expect and was fresh, clean, bright and looked very comfortable.
We were also impressed with the attitude of the staff from the manager at the top of management through all of the care staff likely to be looking after my Father.
Since my Father took up residence, the staff have been wonderful and have a real talent for caring for him and his fellow residents. I often visit at random times on varied days and always find him comfortable, happy, well dressed and groomed. He can’t hold much of a conversation but tells me he is happy there and is being well looked after and it is all down to the hard work and happy disposition of his care team, which really needs to be recognized somehow by those in authority.
We know how difficult it was to care for him at home and even with multiple visits from mobile care and our involvement, it wasn’t enough and he is now receiving the very best of care thanks to the manager and her team!

My husband enjoys living in Larkfield View. The staff are very good with him. He loves the music they have, likes a wee dance with the carters. His personal care is extremely good and very clean. The only problem I would say is the loss of clothing as the names come off.

My aunt has just celebrated her 100th birthday. The staff gave her, her friends and relatives, the most amazing day. I would never have believed such wonderful care and love would be shown in a care home.
Visitors and patients alike are shown much kindness and a lovely welcome when entering the home.
My
aunt is bedridden but always very cosy and comfortable.

Current Review Score: 9.1 (9.139)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.1 (9.139) out of 10 for Larkfield View Care Centre is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 8 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.2 out of 5 from 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.895 for Larkfield View Care Centre is calculated as follows: ( (86 Excellents x 5) + (8 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 95 Ratings = 4.895

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.244 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Larkfield View Care Centre is based on 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.8

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 90 registered maximum number of service users is 18. 8 Positive Reviews ÷ 18 = 0.444

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
