I visit here many times and on all occasions, I'm always impressed with the staff's attention and treatment of the residents. The home is very pleasant and residents rooms that I have seen always look homely and personal.
I would recommend this to anyone who is looking for this type of care.

My family are really happy with the service that is provided to my granny. Previously my great aunt and aunt were both residents here.

Staff are always pleasant and helpful, they treat the residents with dignity and respect, whilst still having the time to talk and have fun with them.
My dad's health has been maintained even though his dementia has progressed due to the level of care given.

Staff are friendly and I enjoy talking to them. The home is very nice and clean. I don't take part in most activities. I will go on bus trips.

My first reaction on entering the care home was the friendly and obliging staff, from all working areas. Lovely fresh surroundings. Residents that I come across looked happy and always seemed to have an activity happening or about to happen. The only downfall for my sister was her age. She was a lot
younger than fellow residents, she stayed in her room, but was happy with her television and magazines. The staff were always popping in to check on her.

Overall, very satisfied with the facility.

My Father in Law was given notice by a home due to his behaviour as they could not deal with his dementia. Now he is well cared for, clean and well hydrated. The staff sit in the lounge and engage with the residents. The food is excellent and he is a lot less agitated. I have witnessed carers helping
an agitated resident who bites - they diffuse the situation by taking her for a walk.

My sister in law has been in Larkfield View Care Home since November 2013 and was welcomed, settled and shown every consideration since then.
The staff are very kindly and friendly to their patients and treat them with the respect they deserve.
She has settled down well and seems happy and content
with her treatment.

Never wanted to expected my mother to be in a care home. Six months ago the decision was taken out of our hands. If she was in any other care home, I would not be content. Larkfield View is the best care home I have ever been in.

Mum has all the space to go for walks, a beautiful bedroom, dining

room and sitting rooms. I have no concerns when I'm not there as the staff are very attentive and friendly towards her. The activities and entertainment they provide are fantastic as is the food. I couldn't fault it's cleanliness either as it is always spotless. Well done to all the staff, they have made my life less stressful as I know mum is well cared for. Excellent, keep up the good work.

My 89 year old mother was admitted to Larkfield View for respite and assessment of Alzheimer's condition. She spent 4 and a half weeks there and was initially unsure what was happening with her, as she thought she'd go back home. She needed long term care and had previously said when her memory was
Ok, that she'd like to go to another care home if this situation ever occurred. I wanted to respect my mum's wishes and she got transferred to that home. Unfortunately, after nearly 4 months there, she didn't settle and kept asking to go back to Larkfield View. She was so lonely in the other home. The manager suggested mum come for lunch. She went and she was like a different person. She remembered the staff and didn't only stay for lunch but dinner too. It's a very sociable home and the staff and management can't do enough for mum. We are both delighted with Larkfield View.

My mother has lived in Larkfield care home about 2 years. Today the residents went to Cardwell garden centre for lunch, this and other outings happen frequently. In my opinion this is an excellent care home, from care, food and hygiene. The manager is superb she is not just a terrific manager but gets
involved with the residents, just mucks in. My mother loves her room, the staff are very approachable, having peace of mind knowing your parent is safe and happy you can not buy.

My husband has been a resident in Larkfield View for just over six years. During that time we have witnessed and experienced many changes within the home both in his medical condition and in the environment he lives in. We are more than happy to acknowledge all the hard work and effort that has been
made by all members of staff without exception to reach the new grade 5.
The care and attention my husband receives on a daily basis allows our family to rest easy that he is receiving excellent care. The manager has worked tirelessly to bring a brilliant team around her. Working with residents who dementia plus other health issues cannot be an easy task but the staff deal with each resident on their personal needs and not just as a number. Well done everyone keep up the great work.

My mum has been a resident in Larkfield View for nearly nine years and I have seen turnover of staff during this time. The Manager has worked tirelessly to improve the experiences for all residents and has brought the staff on board with herself and William at the helm. The recent Care Inspectorate
report awarded 5 Very Good levels and was well deserved. The focus is very much individual person centred and I have found that, although my mum cannot communicate verbally, the staff know her needs very well and try their best to improve her quality of life. If I have a concern about any aspect of my mum's care I have always found staff very approachable and keen to work out a solution with me. Larkfield View community is continually evolving and because of the commitment of staff at all levels to improving experiences for the residents in their care, consultation with family and residents, and skilful leadership I am looking forward to future developments.

Both my Mum and Aunt are very well looked after and the home is alway clean and fresh. My mother particularly likes the security of there being people to help her overnight. Both have an en-suite shower room and both have all their medical needs looked after. The staff are very patient with them against
what must be a very demanding job. The staff at the home are excellent at letting me know if either of my relatives have any wee problems.

My mother-in-law has been a resident here for 2 years, she has dementia. She enjoys the activities and takes part in them each afternoon. In the summer time she enjoys sitting in the garden. Any concerns regarding her health are discussed during our visits. My mother-in-law looks forward to meal times
and enjoy the food that is freshly cooked daily on site. It also has a hairdressing salon and she has a shampoo and set each week. Staff and carers are very good and go out of their way to be helpful.

Current Review Score: 9.1 (9.139)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.1 (9.139) out of 10 for Larkfield View Care Centre is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 8 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.2 out of 5 from 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.895 for Larkfield View Care Centre is calculated as follows: ( (86 Excellents x 5) + (8 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 95 Ratings = 4.895

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.244 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Larkfield View Care Centre is based on 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.8

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 90 registered maximum number of service users is 18. 8 Positive Reviews ÷ 18 = 0.444

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
