Craigielea is an 85 bed, purpose built, care facility that has been designed with the aim of creating an enjoyable, bright living space that supports residents in their day to day lives; and as such, has been divided into four distinct units, each specialising in the following types of care;

Adults over 65/ frail elderly adults
Young people with physical disabilities
Residents with varying degrees of dementia
Residents with Alzheimer's and complex mental health problems

The home is conveniently located within close proximity of Glasgow city centre and enjoys easy access to the M8 and Glasgow airport. There are a number of local amenities just a short drive away from the home, including Braehead shopping centre and the beautiful Robertson Park.

All of the bedrooms have bright and spacious single bed accommodation with en-suite facilities for privacy and convenience. There are numerous lounge and dining facilities available throughout the home for residents to enjoy home cooked meals, whilst also providing a relaxed environment for socialising with family and friends.

The home has a dedicated activities centre, in addition to its own minibus, which is frequently used for visits, excursions and trips to local places of interest.

An enjoyable, secure, and easily accessible garden area with a patio and gazebo has been specially designed to accommodate many outdoor events, including summer BBQ’s and fetes. It’s a fabulous place to be and when the sun is out, it’s even better!

The nursing care in Craigielea Care Home is less than satisfactory. Residents' needs are met to a minimum standard at best. The majority of carers are visibly disinterested and unwelcoming. I believe their personal phones are used to log work etc but I'm not sure this stretches to the videos staff scroll
through when on shift. The residents lack stimulation and are just stuck in the day room in front of the television.
Craigielea was my Grandads home for a year and a half and we are still waiting on someone offering condolences for his death. I don't think that's too much to ask when you adopted the role as his second family. Even when we visited to collect his belongings the only person who offered any words was the hairdresser.
The home has just had a much-needed refit so I hope for the residents' sake that this is a sign of improvements across the board. We reported our room needed done for 14 months so I'm glad changes are finally happening even though they have taken so long.

Lovely clean friendly environment. Staff are engaging and know every resident by name which is reassuring.
Lovely outside area to sit with Gran.
The engagement between residents provides reassurance that Gran has company during the day is comforting.

Having visited numerous care homes, I have never experienced such a heartfelt reception as I do when entering Craigielea care home. From the manager and admin staff to the dedicated carers and residents, you are greeted with the utmost warmth. It’s truly heartwarming to witness the residents receiving
the utmost care and consideration, making them feel genuinely appreciated. I wanted to extend my appreciation to all the staff members at Craigielea; you should take great pride in your exceptional work.

I have been visiting Adam’s for several years. In all that time no matter how stretched the staff, they always have a smile for me or hello. The ward manager is always on top form, nothing is too small for her not to know about. When asked she has given me good advice regarding the frequency and quality
of visiting. If I should slip in unseen by staff, it is reassuring to know how often staff put their heads around the door to ask if my friend needs anything or if they tell a joke. It is a home from home, we need more places like this. They use very few bank staff and staff seem to stay for years. Each resident is genuinely treated as an individual. I am nothing but impressed.

I visited after many months away, to what looked like a new phase had taken place. New manager, new staff and what a difference. Painted, clean and has a prestige look. The manager spoke to me and I now understand why the change, awareness of all issues and staff a great delivery.

It’s great to see so many activities now taking place.
I work mostly abroad and now actively look daily at the social page and find it very encouraging that there are so many activities and changes going on for the benefit of all parties.
All the residents look well cared for and so happy.
Keep
up the good work as previously there were no activities and the care home was becoming very tired looking.
The new changes and decor look amazing.

Since the new manager has been in post the improvements to both the care and also the environment have been amazing! The environmental improvements include a bistro/ cafe area which is accessible to everyone and provides a lovely place to sit and have a coffee/ meal together, plus redecoration of lounges
and corridor areas.
The enclosed garden has also been spruced up and provides areas for sun and shade plus for outdoor activities to take place.
Concerns are welcomed, listened to and dealt with promptly.
Increased use of the social media page means that we see residents taking part in and enjoying a range of activities.
Menus have been changed and now meet nutritional guidelines while offering real choices with home baking, fresh fruit etc available daily.
The new manager has also welcomed and enabled residents accessing an Alzheimer's charity community activities, adding to the diversity of activities on offer each day and also to providing external stimulation opportunities for residents.

My wife could not cope without the care of Craigielea. She was sadly taken from me due to her illness. I miss her big time but I cherish the times we had together. She will always be my wife, despite us being unable to be together. Love you always pet.

My mum has been in Craigielea for nearly 4 years now. She is now totally dependent on others to care for her needs. This has been very difficult for her and for us all. I cannot praise the service manager and her team highly enough for the level of care given to my mum and to us as a family. Over that
time there have been staff changes, but everyone has been very caring. I cannot thank them enough.

In most areas the home is good, staff are friendly. Rather slow in advising if the resident falls. I know there are staffing problems but having staff members that are there on a regular basis helps the resident settle in. Meals are adequate, fruit would be a good addition. I do not think the cost of
care is as it should be for this amount of money.

After hearing lots of positive things about this care home we were delighted when a space became available for our family member to come back to her hometown and transfer from what we were led to believe was an inferior home where she was fairly happy. From day one, we noticed that the management was
disinterested in making this a real home for our relative and the staff were unwilling to encourage our relative to go to communal areas within the home. Instead, she spent most of her time in her bedroom. Even after a meeting with the social worker and the deputy manager to discuss concerns, little was done to improve the situation. The home manager never came near to chat. We only wanted basic rights - friendly staff, care, stimulation, decent meals, and a reasonable standard of cleanliness. Craigielea failed considerably in every aspect.
Nobody cared, listened, or seemed interested, and thus our relative transferred back to her previous placement where she was cared for.

Over what has been a particularly challenging period, care staff, admin, support staff, laundry, kitchen and management have continued to deliver a high standard of person-centred care.
I would be unable to live my own life and look after my dependents if it was not for the amazing work done in West.
I cannot thank you enough. The care staff are always happy and caring and never falter. They know my mum better than me now! All cleaning, laundry and kitchen staff get to know residents' names which makes a huge difference. From the bottom of my heart, thank you.

My mother-in-law has been in the care home for over a year now, I am absolutely astonished at the progress and recovery she has made. I can only put this down to all the care and effort put in by the staff! She has gained weight, she participates in lots of activities and she loved getting pampered!
All the staff, from the girls in the office to the hairdresser, to the manager, have been great and keep our family updated with Mum's daily care, all her medical and emotional needs are being met with dignity! Thank you for everything you do for her and our family, you are all wonderful!

My mother-in-law has been in this care home for over one year. I can't say enough about the staff and the care she has received.

As a mother of a resident in Craiglea Care Home, it's a privilege to write this reference for them. My son was admitted into Craigilea in September 2021. On starting this new journey in his life for once I knew he was going to have an exceptionally good one from now on. The carers, nurses, cleaning
staff and reception staff are all amazing, they have brought my son on leaps and bounds, it's the most amazing place I've ever seen. The residents simply adore the staff. Each day brings new achievements, the rooms are immaculate. They have great activities programmes. The food is superb and everyone is happy.
I would like to convey my thanks to everyone who works within the Adam's Unit for everything they do, also the girls in reception for all their help and support and last, but not least, to the manager, you have such amazing, competent staff, full of integrity and empathy and I know you're as proud of them as I am.
On behalf of myself and my family, keep up the good work everyone, you are all amazing.

I have to say a big thank you to all the staff within this service. Mum went in over a year ago and the positive changes in her have been second to none. Mum's emotional health, well-being and social inclusion needs have all been met without question. Environmentally, her room is always clean and fresh,
which takes some doing as it's like her home and she likes all her own belongings around her, even at Christmas. Mum loves her baths, earrings, nails and hair being done and she always looks well. We, as a family, are very aware of the work, care, and thoughtfulness that the staff administer daily to make Mum so happy and we can't praise them enough. Mum is her own person and she is treated with the utmost respect and dignity, this has encouraged Mum to again be interested in everything and everyone so we feel very blessed. Mum has gained weight and has the light back in her eyes and laughs plenty. We know for a fact this is all down to this service and working together with the staff.

Gran moving into a care home was one of the hardest decisions we had to make as a family. But the move has had an enormous positive impact on Gran's quality of life. Over the past year, it has been clear to see the improvement in both her physical and mental health and she now enjoys and has an interest
in socialising and taking part in activities. This is something she withdrew from while at home. The staff provide her with a high standard of care, this is evident in how well she looks. Staff have gone above and beyond during Covid and have facilitated video calls to allow Gran to meet her new great-grandson when this was not possible to meet in person. A big thank you to everyone who looks after Gran.

My partner's nana went into Craigielea earlier this year and have had to move her to a different home only 3 months later due to the rubbish care. She can go a week or longer without staff washing her and cleaning her room. My partner's mum has to feed her almost every day as the staff doesn’t encourage
her or forget about her at meal times. This care home should be shut down or needs completely new staff, I feel bad for all the residents.
