Homely atmosphere, with excellent levels of care and cleanliness. A homely feeling always made to feel welcome.
Could be more activities but a new activity coordinator has been appointed and is including many of the residents who are unable to go out with relatives and walk along the river near the
home, which they appear to enjoy.

This is a small home not the most luxurious but homely with individual rooms with en-suite facilities, residents are encouraged to have personal items of furniture, pictures, photographs. My wife has been I residence for five years staff are friendly and very caring both qualified and assistants and
has very little staff turnover. The home is beside a river and woodland park on the edge of town and has 42 residents. It accommodates an excellent range of conditions from physical to quite severe dementia in a homely setting.

Have found on occasion that something requested by myself relating to my mother has not been addressed and have to bring it to their attention again at some later date. Overall staff are very good. Some communal areas I feel could do with freshening up e.g. paintwork and blinds sometimes look in disarray
which gives a bad impression when driving into the grounds of the home!!

Current Review Score: 9.2 (9.232)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.2 (9.232) out of 10 for Avonbridge Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 6 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.3 out of 5 from 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.900 for Avonbridge Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (63 Excellents x 5) + (7 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 70 Ratings = 4.9

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.332 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Avonbridge Care Home is based on 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 = 3.6

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 41 registered maximum number of service users is 8.2. 6 Positive Reviews ÷ 8.2 = 0.732

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: Care Home Manager

We offer first-class nursing care for the elderly on a permanent or respite basis, delivered by highly trained professionals in lovely comfortable surroundings.

Our philosophy is simple; we want everyone to enjoy life to the fullest. We never forget that all our residents are individuals and we treat them with dignity, privacy and respect while offering freedom of choice and as much independence as possible.

Friends and family are welcome at any time. Hot drinks and snacks are always available to all. Our cook prepares three nutritious meals a day and the menu changes regularly to reflect seasonal produce. Special diets are catered for.

Residents have the freedom to choose what to do and when. There is plenty going on and our activities coordinator puts together a full programme which is adapted to suit the needs and wishes of our residents. Activities include quizzes, sing-alongs, reminiscence therapy, indoor games, arts and crafts, baking and wherever possible, trips out and about.

I’d love to show you around the home. So if you should like a tour, or wish to discuss any aspect of elderly care with me, please telephone the home to make an appointment.
