My dear wee Mum was a resident of Bankhouse care home for three years and sadly passed away in her sleep last night.
From receiving the call from the nurse on call till actually going down then back today my family and I were treated with the utmost sincerity and kindness.
When my dad passed away
my folks had been married for 66 years and I was worried how my mum would cope on her own. After a short illness, we chose to place her Bankhouse which had been one of the best decisions I’ve ever made, from the lovely comfortable surroundings to the fantastic food my mum really enjoyed the last three years of her life feeling safe and contented and loved in the care home.
All staff from carers, nurses, cooks, cleaners, hairdressers, handymen and management were all absolutely fantastic and provided a level of service that went above and beyond and again from my family to all at the care home I have to say a huge thank you for making my mums last years such happy ones!

Reply from Janis McFarlane, Regional Director at Bankhouse

I am very happy with the care my mother is receiving in the home. The staff are extremely helpful and caring. My mother has settled in nicely and has a lovely room where we were able to bring some of her bits and pieces from home. I have only scored good in a few boxes as it's early days since my mother
came in.

Well, where do I start about this wonderful place Bank House? Mum moved in here in January and how hard it was to accept the doctor’s instructions that Mum needed to get 24-hour care. We could not have found a better place - the staff are all amazing unfortunately I am not allowed to mention names but
that’s ok because they are all amazing angels. They are so professional in looking after Mum and all other residents within the home. Nothing seems to be an issue no matter how little or large the problem they take it in their stride to sort. The room Mum has is amazing and after we put our own touches to it, Mum thinks she is at home and so happy and contented with her lovely surroundings. Each day there is a choice of meals and Mum hasn’t complained about a meal ever. She constantly comments on how good things are. Catering staff are all nice as well and forever making sure there is something each day that Mum likes. Thanks so much for all they do for Mum.

As we move on into 2020, I must write to convey my complete satisfaction with the management and staff at MHA Bank House in Lesmahagow. They have looked after and supported both my wife (and myself) with exceptional care. I have also seen the ongoing improvements to the individual living rooms as well
as the communal and working areas taking place with very little disruption. The management and staff have always anticipated or responded willingly to the needs of my wife and requests from myself without the need for reminders. For these wonderful benefits, I and my family will always be thankful.

I am very happy with the care and support my mother receives from all staff.
When staff are faced with any challenges from my mother they are dealt with in a professional and caring manner.
No matter the time of day family visit, a warm welcome is given by all staff and the environment of the nursing
home is always presented in a clean and hygienic fashion.

Bank House looked after my mum from December 2017 until she died on 9th July 2019. They did a great job of this. The staff at all levels from management, administration, carers, nursing staff, cleaning and catering staff were very good at making my mum feel at home and looking after all her needs. They
put the 'care' in care home. They really did care for her on a personal level as well as a professional one.

My mother-in-law became a resident of Bank House in December 2018. Immediately my husband and I were struck by the care and attention shown by staff to ensure that her accommodation was adapted to her desire and needs. Standard of personal care and nursing is exceptional, as is the quality of meal and
surroundings. Grounds and gardens are very well maintained. All staff are very friendly and approachable and are keen to involve residents and their family members in ensuring personal requests and comforts are met.

My mother has been at Bank House for eight months now following a major stroke. As a family, it has taken us some time to trust her care to others. However, we are confident she is being well cared for at Bank House. She can do very little for herself and can barely communicate but the staff are kind
and friendly, treating her with dignity and seem to understand what little she can say or indicate. She is well fed and both carers and nurses are swift to spot any health concerns. There are plenty of carers/nurses on hand per shift. Throughout the week, different activities are held in the lounge, which the residents are encouraged to participate in.
I would have no hesitation in recommending Bank House to anyone.

I reside in California and travel home to Scotland to visit my father at least 4 times a year. Every visit I make to Bank House provides me with such warmth and peace. It means so much that my father's carers and nurses are so kind and attentive. Bank House feels like a family community and its lovely
to see familiar faces every time I visit which is a huge A+ that staff turnover is not an issue. The place is always clean, with no unpleasant odours! Keep up the good work Bank House.

Since moving into the home my mum has settled in so well. The staff are fantastic with her and it puts her at ease on a daily basis. I have recommended Bank House to friends of mine and I wouldn't want my mum anywhere else. It's like one big family in Bank House.

Current Review Score: 8.1 (8.102)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.1 (8.102) out of 10 for Bankhouse is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 1 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.1 out of 5 from 1 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 5.000 for Bankhouse is calculated as follows: ( (12 Excellents x 5) ) ÷ 12 Ratings = 5

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 3.102 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Bankhouse is based on 1 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 = 3

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 49 registered maximum number of service users is 9.8. 1 Positive Reviews ÷ 9.8 = 0.102

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
