Hutton Park is a private, freshly refurbished, luxurious care home based in the Scottish seaside resort of Largs, which encourages group living within a warm, welcoming and caring environment.

Excellent panoramic views are offered from the home over the Firth of Clyde – from the Argyll Peninsula to Ailsa Craig.

High-quality, person-centred residential care is provided to older people in the area, with the key tenets of dignity and respect being adhered to at all times.

Staff are highly vetted and chosen for their care skills and compassion, and then put through a rigorous training programme.

The residential chef provides a daily menu of dishes made from only the finest ingredients. All meals are also selected for their nutritional value, and special dietary requirements can be catered for on request.

Hutton Park has its own onsite hairdresser.

Chiropodist comes in every 7 weeks.

It is always difficult choosing a care home for a loved one, especially in these strange COVID times. I am so glad that Hutton Park was the one I chose for my mother earlier this year. It is a very well equipped and comfortable home and, more importantly, the staff are amazing. My mother had not been
a resident for long when she suffered a stroke, which severely impeded her movement and speech. However, all the staff constantly do everything they can to see that she is comfortable and well cared for. It truly is a home from home.

My mother has only been a resident in Hutton Park for a few weeks but we are delighted she is in such a lovely environment, we definitely made the right choice for her. Despite the current restrictions, the staff have made a huge effort to provide a variety of activities to keep the residents stimulated
and keep us updated regularly with lots of lovely photos. It gives us peace of mind knowing that Mum is being so well cared for.

Hutton Park Care home, in my opinion, is run extremely well. Caring for residents in a very highly professional manner, by both management and staff.
My relative who has been there for the past 10 years has been treated with the highest respect and dignity. She has been extremely happy and content.

My father has received an excellent standard of care especially during the current pandemic. The COVID control measures have been fastidiously enacted and observed. The communication from the management team has been regular and very informative. My father feels very safe and cared for by all staff
who go above and beyond. The management have made great improvements over the last year but particularly during the pandemic. My father’s personal and medical needs are met and any interventions required are met. Enabling covid secure outdoor visits have worked very well and the decisions to occasionally suspend or rearrange these visits are a welcome strong foresight and forward planning of the team. The home went into lockdown and stopped visits as the care home guidance was being issued and they continue to monitor and preempt what is occurring in wider society which must be commended. I and my mum are so grateful for my father’s care and support of our family.

My mother moved to Hutton Park in November 2019. Thanks to the warm welcome and care of all staff members she settled quickly. The Home is in a lovely location and my mother really appreciates the seaside views. I have been impressed with the general standard of management and good levels of communication,
particularly during the difficult COVID pandemic period. However, most outstanding has been the genuine level of care and attention my mother receives from staff on a daily basis. She is treated with a level of warmth and respect which makes me very glad we found Hutton Park at this time. The celebration of my mother’s 90th birthday in February this year was a high point. Along with two other residents who also had birthdays we had a great day, thanks to all involved.

My mother went straight from hospital where she had unfortunately been for 9 weeks in February to Hutton Park. Mum was a little traumatised by the hospital and had been a bit fearful of going to Hutton Park. There are not enough good words to say about the staff and management there. Mum has a fabulous
room overlooking the sea. When lockdown happened it was all very stressful and it was 4 months before I was able to see her again. I found a healthy, happy and lovely looking mother when I saw her again. She is so well cared for and I am so appreciative of everyone keeping her safe. I would have absolutely no reservations in recommending Hutton Park for any other loved one unable to live on their own.

My mother aged 101 moved into the care home in Feb. Settled well with excellent support from staff. The care home is well managed and all staff professional and attentive to her needs. Ongoing calls and video links set up to support communication with my mother during the very difficult virus period.
Very strict policies at this time seem to be working well. Mum appears happy and settled into her new home. No issues.

The staff are the biggest asset in this care home. They do a remarkable job and go above and beyond. I can see the new management team have really raised the bar in terms of processes and procedures and this is evident in the communication as well as day to day running of the home.

Russell

Russell McDonald

Job Title: Head Chef

Joined: 2015

Russell has been cooking in a professional kitchen for 25 yrs, he attended college in Paisley and Ayr, which was day release from various Hotels and restaurants.


Russell has been with us at Hutton Park for 5 years now, he made it into the top three in Scotland for Nutrition & Health Awards held at the Hilton in Glasgow. He loves learning about the resident's likes and dislikes and tailors his menu to suit.


Russell lives locally with his wife, he loves walking and he has recently taken up cycling.

Carla Silveira

Job Title: Senior Activities Co-Ordinator

Joined: 2014

My name is Carla Esperanza Silveira Calderín, I was born in Caracas, Venezuela, in 1965. I graduated as a lawyer in 1991.


In 2013, I resigned from my position and travelled to Scotland to marry my childhood sweetheart Francisco Mendez.


During my first year here, I worked as a volunteer. Firstly, with the British Heart Foundation and later with Ardgowan Hospice in Greenock. Then, on the 19th of November 2014, I was offered a permanent full-time job working at Hutton Park Care Home in Largs. I fell in love with my new job from day one.


Coordinating and creating the best activities for residents and seeing them happy laughing and enjoying what they do fills my life and makes me feel very happy. I feel happy knowing that every day, all these elderly residents and patients that I care for, receive all my love and dedication. Each drop of love that I put in my daily work contributes to giving a strong quality and care to the residents within Hutton Park and I want to keep developing in this area.
I finished my SVQ level 2 and level 3 about two years ago and also annually I update all the courses related to my new career. In 2017, I was nominated for the “Emerging Talent Award in Social Care” in Scotland and arrive among the first three candidates.


I have everything in this amazing country, where I feel honoured to live and collaborate.

I worked at Glasgow Airport for over 20yrs as a Duty Manager. I was made redundant in 2019 and was lucky enough to get this position at Hutton Park. I wish I had come to the care industry much sooner, I love it. Seeing the residents smiling faces every day I come into work is a joy and a privilege. Watching the care staff look after these fabulous residents, especially during COVID, makes me feel very humbled, what a fantastic job they doing, they are so committed in everything they do.
I am married 40yrs, I have three grown kids and two granddaughters, I love rugby and following Scotland to a different country every year during the six nations

I attended South Kent College to study Child Care & Elderly Social Care. Whilst doing this I took a position in the care sector for six months and ended up staying 24yrs as I loved it so much. I gained my NVQ 2-3-4 which I am so proud of. I took on a new challenge and went to work at my local Hospice which was so rewarding. After 9 yrs my husband and I decided to move to Scotland where I have worked in the care industry ever since. It gives me so much satisfaction helping to make the residents years more comfortable. In total I have hade 34 happy years working in the care sector.


I have 2 grown children and two wonderful grandchildren.
