Both parents were residents until Mum passed away in Jan. She was treated with so much care and dignity until she passed away. Dad still resident and so well cared for and staff always welcoming to family members when visiting. Cannot fault Willowbank and staff in any way.

Fabulous care home. The staff went far and above to welcome not just my stepfather but myself and my children. Could not recommend enough. Nothing was too much of an effort whether kitchen staff, care staff or cleaning staff. The manager was welcoming as was the rest of the staff, who I will hold dearly
in my heart. Special mention to one particular member of staff who is the sweetest of girls and to another for entertainment skills. Sorry not to see the staff now but will make a point of remaining in contact.

Mum became a resident at Balhousie Willowbank Care Home in December 2021. She was diagnosed with Vascular Dementia two years earlier and it was becoming unsafe for her to remain in her own home. We live quite a distance away (160miles).
The Carers made Mum and ourselves feel very welcome from the beginning.
Every one of them acknowledged Mum and us by name. Even though they were wearing masks you could see they were smiling. Makes a difference! Mum's room was huge and airy. There was an ensuite shower room/toilet. Every time we visited, Mum was dressed well. The clothes were clean and laundered nicely. Mum loved the meals, especially the soups. When we visited there were always snacks in her room. Balhousie Willowbank Care Home staff ensured her hair and her podiatry requirements were catered for. The care given was excellent, I never felt concerned about the care Mum was receiving. We knew she was safe. The Activities Co-Ordinator is excellent and the residents were always entertained. Staff were always contactable.
Thank you!

My mum has been looked after by the lovely folks at Willowbank Carnoustie for the last 3 years without fault. I could not ask for a better level of care from such a caring and professional team. Nothing is too much for them. I work abroad, so cannot visit as often as I want. I can always rely on the
care and compassion of everyone there. Always sure she is in safe caring hands. Even with her conditions the team engage and look after her so well. Never a worry and I know she is safe and sound. Taken out to many activities and looked after so well.

Balhousie Willowbank Care Home have been incredibly supportive since my aunt was admitted at the start of the year. They've done everything possible to make the transition smooth, not only for her but also for us, her family. The team of carers ensure she is content and cared for 24-hours a day which
is a weight off our minds, knowing she'll be okay. The communication has been excellent and knowing I can call and ask anything has been fantastic. The activities and birthday parties are not only keeping my aunt entertained but are also keeping her mind active and I've noticed a massive difference in her cognitive emotion since she has arrived. A wonderful home staffed by a wonderful team.

Willowbank has done nothing but treat my Nana with great care and a friendly approach. They always made sure she was happy and content to be there. She enjoyed all the entertainment provided and the food when I would come to visit she would always say how nice of a place it was. The manager was always
making sure to stay in touch and make my Nana feel as comfortable as possible. Would recommend it to anyone!

I have been very pleased with the quality of care that my mother has received from the staff in general. Mum has always felt that she is being shown kindness by all. The admin staff have always been very speedy in informing me of any problems that have arisen re Mum's health. Willowbank staff have been
very helpful to all the family over visitation during the ongoing covid 19 pandemic period. Having kept a weather eye on the news it has become very clear that Balhousie Care Home, in general, have been extremely careful in their handling of the various homes; this has given us all a large measure of assurance. In short, I believe the entire staff at Willowbank have done extremely well by their residents over this very difficult period.

I am unable to fill in the option table below with any accuracy (I have chosen 'excellent' by default) because I don't know the home well enough, but just a few days ago, I got in touch to enquire after my aunt who lives in Willowbank.
I know it is a very difficult time in care homes at the moment,
and the staff have so many other duties and concerns to attend to, that I just expected a routine word or two saying that my aunt was doing well and there was nothing to worry about.
Well in fact I was delighted that the carer actually got my aunt on the telephone, and I was able to have a conversation with her, which was truly a delight and raised everybody's spirits!
It was so good of the carer to go this extra mile. Well done Willowbank.

Mum has been a resident in Balhousie Willowbank Care Home for almost four years. During that time, although her health is deteriorating, her care has been excellent. The staff are always very attentive, caring and helpful. Her bedroom is very comfortable and the cooked meals are well presented. The
daily activities add a bit of fun to her day. Having an outside space in the summer is a great bonus.

Current Review Score: 8.7 (8.729)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.7 (8.729) out of 10 for Willowbank Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 4 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.9 out of 5 from 4 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.854 for Willowbank Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (41 Excellents x 5) + (7 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 48 Ratings = 4.854

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 3.875 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Willowbank Care Home is based on 4 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.375

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 40 registered maximum number of service users is 8. 4 Positive Reviews ÷ 8 = 0.5

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
