Luncarty House is located in Luncarty, Perth and is an old Victorian style property which was originally the family home of the Stevensons who owned both Stanley and Luncarty Mills. The mills provided work for the local people both in Luncarty and Stanley and the home remains very much part of this local community.

In the early 1980s the house was developed as a residential home, which stands today. The building maintains a lot of the original character features such as original fireplaces, wood panelling in the dining room and main staircase. The lounges still have the look and feel of the original drawing and morning rooms.

Luncarty Care Home is registered for 32 residents of which 8 are cared for within the specialist Dementia Unit in the home. Accommodation is provided in mainly single rooms, some of which have en-suite facilities. There are three rooms available for shared occupancy.

Luncarty has extensive grounds with several flower beds, a rockery and a hedge of rhododendrons which provide an abundance of colour throughout spring and summer. The driveway to the home is lined with several very old and mature trees which provide a backdrop to the extensive lawns.

Luncarty retains its Victorian grandeur, while the care within is provided in a homely family way, by professional staff.

My mum has been in the home for a few years now. She is very happy. 2020 was a difficult year but the lovely staff made it a lot easier by keeping us informed on what was happening in the home and keeping mum and us protected. She understands what is happening in everyday life, how difficult it is.
My brothers and I are happy with the home and the staff.

I have found the staff at Luncarty House extremely friendly and helpful and my mother has settled in well. She found the initial quarantine period difficult, however, she is now enjoying being able to speak to the other residents in the home.

My mum moved into Luncarty House last year as she was falling and lost confidence in being mobile. The care team have been fantastic at getting her back on her feet and now she is her confident happy self again, able to move around. The team have handled the current health situation with true professionalism
and rallied to create a happy environment for my mum and the other residents, remaining cheerful and enthusiastic in challenging times. I cannot thank this very dedicated team enough for all they are doing.

Always friendly and very helpful with any queries I may have. They let residents have a long lie if they wish or if they are tired. Have different things for them to do. Also, get taken out for walks when weather fine. Disappointed to overhear one carer complaining about getting the residents up late,
should remember it's their home.

My Father was admitted to the care home in June 2016. He is a very outgoing and positive person and therefore settled in very quickly. All the staff helped in this process with care, respect and friendliness. This has continued over the last two years. He continually tells people how lucky he is to
be here and what excellent care he receives.

Current Review Score: 8.7 (8.653)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.7 (8.653) out of 10 for Luncarty Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.0 out of 5 from 9 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.7 out of 5 from 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 3.953 for Luncarty Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (64 Excellents x 5) + (15 Goods x 4) + (5 Satisfactorys x 3) + (2 Poors x 2) + (20 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 106 Ratings = 3.953

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.7 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Luncarty Care Home is based on 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.7

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 32 registered maximum number of service users is 6.4, which has been reached with 7 Positive reviews. Points = 1

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
