Very kind and caring. Everything you want in a nursing home. Excellent facilities but most important a real feeling of love from the staff who care for the residents.

All of the staff were incredible. They were kind, patient and compassionate. They were made sure my grandfather was comfortable and happy and took time to listen to him. They were also brilliant with us when we lost him.

Reply from Kate Gibson, Head of Care at Cullum Welch Court

It was a pleasure and privilege to support your grandfather and family at such an important time. Our best wishes to your family at this difficult time.

The stay my husband and I had for 2 weeks was excellent. Staff were very helpful, also management was excellent. If needed I would certainly come in here for a complete rest, that is what we had.

My wife and I have spent three weeks in a double room in the care home, whilst our wet room in the flat was under repair. We have received nothing but kindness and consideration and the service was excellent. I have Parkinson's and when I had a fall, the back-up was first class. The food was very good
and the presentation of a high standard. All in all, a most happy three weeks.

I recommend Cullum Welch Court unreservedly for anyone wishing to find a care home or nursing home for themselves or a relative. The facilities are excellent and very well maintained, the staff and management are kind, thoughtful, conscientious and highly skilled.
Staff turnover is low as a consequence.
My mother lived there for the last ten months of her life and I genuinely cannot think of anywhere that she would rather have been. It is a model institution.

Following two major operations, I was admitted to Cullum Welch for recuperation. For ten days on arriving I was personally met by the nursing sister and shown in a very well appointed comfortable room. I immediately felt at home and relaxed. Day and night nursing staff and carers were always available,
rooms were daily cleaned. Food was presented, with excellent choices. Nothing was left to cause anxiety or concern. The ambience of Cullum Welch was such that recovery was speedy and complete. I strongly recommend Cullum Welch as a place for long or short term stays which provides homely yet professional care of the highest standard and where all are treated as individuals with the highest respect.

I had an enjoyable stay during convalescence from hip surgery. I found the staff delightful and without exception, always cheerful and prepared to help. The grounds were a pleasure to walk around and Blackheath being so close was a bonus. My only complaint would be the food; for someone recovering from
an operation, healthier food including fresh fruit and wholemeal bread would have been welcome. Overall though an enjoyable stay. Thank you.

Reply from Kate Gibson, Head of Care at Cullum Welch Court

Thank you for your kind comments Keith - I'm sorry you were not shown the fresh fruit in the lounge for residents to help themselves and other breads which are available. We hope you continue to recover well!

Kind regards

My wife and myself found the staff helpful, caring and friendly. The accommodation was comfortable. The food was of a good standard and the menus suitably varied. As a husband, I appreciated being able to eat most meals in my wife's room - I was booked into a guest room in Wells Court and enjoyed the
breakfasts in the breakfast room.

Reply from Kate Gibson, Head of Care at Cullum Welch Court

We were very happy that we could support you both at this time. Kind regards from all at Morden.

This is more like a 10 star hotel. There are no faults in care to find. The food is outstanding. You could never lose any weight with all that choice. Even special requests.
They have everyday activities - so no time to get bored.
The grounds are lovely. All staff members very attentive. I really
highly recommend. I would never go somewhere else for respite.

This is a super care home in every way and my only complaint is the noise.
I am rather sensitive to extraneous noises but with loud TV's, buzzers, doors clashing, loud voices, etc. - it is upsetting.
However, I am grateful to be here.

My mother was in Cullum Welch Court for one month only. During that time she received excellent care and attention from the staff at what was a difficult time for us as a family. She spent her last month in a loving, caring environment and we are very grateful to her carers for looking after her.

My father moved into Cullum Welch Court when he finally realised that he was unable to fend for himself in the rambling family home. The transition from a large five bedroom house, to a single room with en-suite bathroom, essentially moving from independence to dependency, could have been a problem
but far from it, all went smoothly and he soon settled in, helped in no small measure by the kindness and consideration of all staff, who always treated him with the utmost respect. The knowledge that he could, in theory, come and go as he pleased and that friends and family could visit whenever they liked, was I’m sure a great comfort and helped maintain his own individual dignity. Although pretty much a loner, who didn’t mix, he soon counted those who looked after him as his friends. It goes without saying that the standard of care was excellent and, even though in gradual decline over the period of his stay, I never had the slightest concerns for his well-being, be it physical or mental.

We cannot speak more highly of the superb care our mother was given by the staff at Cullum Welch Court nursing home. Mum was allowed to end her last weeks in absolute comfort. The rooms were beautiful and gorgeous common areas and gardens. The food was top notch with a large and varied menu. Mum was
treated with love, support and dignity. Thank you so much. Mum went in peace and was happy.

All the staff, admin, nurses, caterers and cleaners could not have been more caring and considerate. These were tough times for my wife and family but everyone seemed to make the time to spend a moment with you. My wife could not have had kinder and more professional cheery care. I was kept informed
of any problems and difficulties and although my wife was only there a short time before she passed away, it was as if she had lived there for years. The family came and went as if it were our home (which in effect it was). I know everyone made her last days as comfortable as possible and by constant discussion with me about her condition, I was able to be with her when she died. A truly wonderful team that I will always remember with great fondness.

In the very sad circumstances we found ourselves in, the compassion and professional skill in caring for my husband was outstanding.
As a family, we experienced a level of excellence in kindness and support which we had not experienced before.
I would have no hesitation in giving this care home the
highest recommendation.

My husband was a resident for three and a half years and during that time I had no concerns about his care. He enjoyed a good lifestyle, was well cared for and was able to take part in general activities of Morden College. He went to weekly concerts, music group evening entertainments and lunch out
at the site cafe.
He was well cared for and nothing was a problem.

I was offered a room in Cullum Welch Court for short-term respite care. I was initially reluctant to accept the offer but after two individual stays how glad I was to have accepted the offer.

The welcome I received was reflective of the treatment I received during my stays. The staff unobtrusively

looked in regularly and always offered their assistance and help. This was done with a smile which was without doubt genuine making you feel cared for.

There was also a constant provision of tea (often with biscuits) and the standard of the catering was comprehensive and of high quality with a wide selection of choice.

The quality of care was highlighted on my return to my college flat where I realised just how relaxed I felt - a perfect conclusion to a very worrying period.

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.779)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.779) out of 10 for Cullum Welch Court is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 9 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.879 for Cullum Welch Court is calculated as follows: ( (95 Excellents x 5) + (11 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 107 Ratings = 4.879

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.9 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Cullum Welch Court is based on 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.9

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 28 registered maximum number of service users is 5.6, which has been reached with 9 Positive reviews. Points = 1

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
