The Kensington offers residential, nursing, dementia, respite, post-operative and palliative care.

This large, elegantly converted Victorian terraced house is situated in an attractive residential area just north of Holland Park Avenue. The building retains many original architectural features and the layout has a relaxed, homely atmosphere. The home is surrounded by beautiful grounds.

All bedrooms are en-suite and are fully air-conditioned, and several ground floor bedrooms have garden access and private patios. A hostess service is also offered to give residents a truly personal service.

The home has beautiful gardens, in a very peaceful and tranquil environment that would make it hard to realise the home is in the heart of London.

At The Kensington, staff take great care to focus on the person. It’s important for residents to feel at home, a friendly environment has been created with an individually appropriate balance of care and independence.

At mealtimes, residents can choose to eat in one of many dining rooms, including the conservatory-style dining room, or in the comfort of the bedroom if preferred. Soon after a resident arrives at The Kensington, staff discuss personal preferences and dietary needs with them.

There’s a real sense of community at The Kensington. Staff work to discover what residents enjoy doing and the home's social calendar is organised around those interests. So whether the loved one already has a hobby or would like to take up a new one, there are lots of exciting activities to get involved in.

My husband has now been in The Kensington care home for fifteen months. The staff know him and look after him very well and are very caring and loving with him and also, with me. We are very happy with the home and the fact that it is near for me to visit. I come every day to see my husband, which is
very reassuring for us both.

I regularly visit one friend but have two other friends who are residents - one left yesterday. I have known the home for many years and have visited friends there on many occasions. My aunt died there in July 1991! I am very impressed by the atmosphere in the home and the care of the residents and
visitors.

The care staff, particularly those working during the day, are very good indeed. Caring, considerate and respectful at all times. My mother needs much assistance and those members of the staff who have known my mother for some years now give her very good support and help in every way.

Very impressed with the care my Dad has had in the last couple of months. The staff are gentle and friendly and go out of their way to make sure he is as happy and comfortable as possible, checking in to see if there is a particular food he would like, moving him to a garden room once it became available
and many other kindnesses. Being able to go into the garden with him is a real pleasure and we always feel welcome when we visit.

Wonderful, caring staff, excellent dining facilities, meticulously clean environment and very comfortable. Couldn’t recommend the Kensington highly enough. Always a huge pleasure to visit. The gardens are very well looked after and the restaurant is fantastic.

My friend has Alzheimer's disease and poor mobility, though not in a wheelchair. Her room is small but comfortable and opens onto the lovely garden. I find that the staff are all extremely kind and helpful and they know the residents as individuals. Unfortunately, my friend does not read or watch TV
and really only enjoys classical music and walking outdoors. She would like more people to converse with, as she is lonely. I realise this cannot be provided and would be the same wherever she lived.

About care, if I ring for help or hot milk at 3 am, it is brought immediately. About comfort, that could not be increased. About my room, it was perfect for me because, as a writer, I could convert a corner of my room into an office. Also, as a writer, I was left in peace by a 'do not interrupt' notice
pinned to my door. The quiet, lush garden was outside another glass door. All security measures were cleverly disguised. The staff must have all been to charm school and the watchful presence of the Director was felt by me at all times. The Kensington Care Home is not cheap, but for me, it is worth every penny.

Today I was allowed in to see my mother for the first time in months. The lateral flow test was quick and easy, and it was lovely to see Mum again with no glass walls and to hold hands. As ever, that staff could not have been more helpful and friendly - and Mum was over the moon! Many thanks.

During the lockdown, the staff kept us informed about Mum's health and welfare and arranged video calls. Today was my first visits, and it was evident that Mum has received excellent care and support. Her room has photos and letters close at hand for her. The staff obviously 'know' Mum as a person and

My mother-in-law has now been at the Kensington since before the COVID pandemic and has been treated with such care and compassion during her time.
Covid-19 has bought anxiety and challenges to everyone, yet the Kensington has gone above and beyond in everything they do for residents, and us as family.
The manager was awarded the BEM in the 2020 Queens Honours list, which is a true indication of his and the entire team’s dedication to their work.
