St. Mary’s Care Home is a privately owned 86-bed purpose-built care home, located in a quiet setting off a residential road in Streatham, South London. The Home provides specialist nursing, residential and dementia care.

All bedrooms are tastefully and comfortably furnished with television, telephone points and 24-hour nurse call system – many are en-suite, some with showers. Residents are encouraged to personalise the bedroom.

Food is cooked freshly on site by the in-house chefs and meals are served either in the spacious dining room, within each wing, or the residents’ own room as preferred.

The home boasts a reminiscence room, a hairdressing salon, a sensory room, 2 private gardens and its own cinema and a residents' pub.

St Mary's runs a varied activities programme for the residents, managed by two coordinators, using the courtyard and garden when the weather is good.

Established in 1931, initially to care for nuns from the adjacent church of the English Martyrs, some of the walls of which form part of the much-extended home, St Mary’s has a beautiful private chapel for services and private prayers.

In January 2022 the Care Quality Commission (CQC) gave St Mary’s a 'good' inspection rating across all five categories and overall.

Home is very welcoming, generally kept clean and staff friendly. The person in charge of the activities is phenomenal, caring and always present.
Unfortunately, the change of care staff is disappointing, as makes continuous care difficult, especially for those with dementia, like my mother.
Food standard
is satisfactory and could always be improved.
